1. LessonPlan in Science 9
October 1,2018
I. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students should be able:
1. To define what is an organic compound.
2. To appreciate the important use of some organic compounds.
3. To perform a group task specifically brainstorming on the use of each compound introduced.
II. Subject Matter:
A. Topic: Use of Organic Compounds
B. Reference: Learner’s Material pp.131-132
C. Instructional Materials: pictures, manila paper, pentel pen
III. Procedures
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Preliminary Activities
Good morning class!
Is everybody present?
That’s great! Arrange now your chairs and
kindly pick up all scattered things near you.
We’re done with the reporting on chemical
bonding. All of you have showed remarkable
participation in your respective groups. I do
hope this time; you will be doing the same
thing for you to cope up with our next lesson.
Good morning Ma’am Alcantara.
Yes, Ma’am!
(Students arrange their chairs and picked up
scattered things.)
Yes Ma’am.
B. Review
Let’s have a brief recap of your previous
lesson.
Yes, Marianne?
Excellent! So what forms chemical bonds
then?
Yes, Ladie Lyn?
Very Good. You’re absolutely right.
Now let’s proceed with our new lesson.
Ma’am our past lesson is all about the
formation of chemical bonds which also
forms compounds.
Ma’am non-metallic elements but there are
also cases where a metal and a non-metal can
also form one.
2. C. Presentation
I have brought here pictures of some organic
compounds.
Can you identify these pictures?
Okay so everybody, name them all.
Alright very good! It seems that you’re all
familiar with these compounds. Do you have
all of these at home?
That’s good.
Now I want you to stay together in your same
assigned groups. Use these pictures to
visualize their common use at home and even
in the environment. You can follow the table
on your book pp. 132. Once you’re done,
you’re going to do brainstorming.
Did you get me?
Alright, begin. You have 15 minutes to do it.
Yes, Ma’am.
Gasoline, ethyl alcohol, acetone, LPG,
Kerosene, and Acetic acid.
(Someone says yes; others say some).
Yes, Ma’am.
D. Discussion
Okay, the time is over. Finalize now your
answers and in two minutes, start to
brainstorm your written outputs.
You have all given your best to perform the
task and I say it’s an excellent performance
coming from you.
Have you now appreciated how important are
these compounds?
E. Generalization
Do you have queries in mind regarding our
topic today?
If you no longer have questions, will someone
make a short conclusion of our topic?
Yes, Lhyka?
You’re absolutely right Lhyka.
(All groups have exchanged ideas and have
shared their advance thinking regarding the
use of the given compounds).
Yes, Ma’am.
None, Ma’am.
Ma’am, organic compounds are very much
useful to us, humans. And is also important to
plants and animals for survival.
3. IV. Evaluation
Bring out your assessment notebook, do the
pre-assessment on carbon compounds pp.128-
130.
You only have few minutes left, so we will
just check it tomorrow.
Yes, Ma’am.
Ma’am are we going to check it today?
Okay Ma’am.
V. Assignment
Have an advance reading on the properties of
common organic compounds. Make an outline
for your advance knowledge of our next topic
tomorrow.
