2. For the final phase of the course, you will be reviewed and given tasks on everything you
have learned in an instructional design format. Which means will be given the chance to use
what you have learned in a real life situation. This is a great chance for you to apply your
knowledge, and it's a proven method for retaining what you have learned.
Up coming tasks will consist of:
1. Scenario based tasks, otherwise known as roleplay.
2. A balanced mix of; pair, solo and group work.
3. Discussions/debates/problem solving to see how well you know the content of the
previous units.
4. A group poject to produce something for your final work.
3. Overview
6.1 Enviromental science
Scenario based task roleplay working in pairs
Evaluate how certain actions and conditions affect the enviroment
Using key science vocabulary learned to interact and solve issues
6.2 Energy science
Dealing with a problem on your own
Solve the problem by persuading people why a certain energy type is the best
Using information, keywords, trends and model answers as facts to support your campaign
6.3. Eco system science
Working as group to create the perfect Eco system
Evaluate how certain actions and conditions affect the enviroment
Using key science vocabulary learned to interact and solve issues
4. 6.1; Enviromental science; scenario based roleplay
For this task you will work in pairs and
you will take on roles and act out
characters according to a predetermind
situation.
Person A: takes the role of a local coucil enviromental planner
Person B: takes the role of a developer who wants to change the coal plant into a nuclear one.
Have a discussion on the current enviromental situation and
what would change. Debate any issues this may cause.
Plan in advance and make sure you have an undertsanding
of all the enviromental keywords you have learned from the
unit. As this is what you will be assessed on. Please make either
a voice recording or video recording (via skype video call etc)
and upload it to your teacher. It should be at least 5 mins long.
5. 6.2; Energy lesson task; Persuading people why you are
correct in your desicion to produce wind power
For this task you will be working alone.
On the left is a fictional email based on real life events. You
are an energy giant and you want to build 5 wind turbines on
a nearby field. The local council are considering your proposal
but you have recieved complaints from some locals residents
about the plan.
Write a response that will be read out by a company
spokesman that will go public. Try and persuade the residents
why it's benefits will outweight the disadvantages.
Remember this is an assesment of what you learned in lesson
3 - energy. Use all the information you have aquired such as
scientific terms, trends, and model answers to support your
work for the task.
Please post your answers in the forum for the unit.
6. 6.3 Eco system science; create the perfect Eco system
For this task you will work in a group to
design and create the perfect Eco system.
What animals/plants/instects will it contain?
Be aware of the food chain.
Use all the correct vocabulary learned in
lesson 4 (Eco systems)
There are a variety of ways you can create and present this. As a group decide
on how you want to approach this task.
Projects past groups have created are: A powerpoint presentation; A wordpress
website; a mini online course focusing on Eco systems in detail; An Ebook. It's
entirely upto you!
Please choose a spokesperson among your group who will email the teacher
pitching your idea. The project should consis of 3 hours work per person. I.e: a
group of 3 people should produce work which relfects 9 hours of work.
I look forward to seeing your creations!
