2. Before presenting the rough cut…
• As a group, we feel we have not organized the clips as well as
we should have, by this I mean that there are unnecessary clips
and video in the trailer that don’t make sense and make the
trailer too long, in which it needs to be shorter to feel like a
teaser trailer.
• The sound in the video is no where near the stage that we want
it to be as we lack sound effects, have poor timing, and don’t
have a song that matches the genre of our trailer.
• We need to add titles and some transitions and effects that will
really help to immerse the viewer into the trailer and make the
trailer a lot better. Overall we are happy with the progress but
feel there is a lot of work to be done from our rough cut copy.
3. The Rough Cut Process:
• We presented our film to four different groups in our class
along with forms to fill out that covered several areas such
as conventions and USP’s being met, the teasers main
strengths, possible improvements and recommendations.
4. Question 1: Is it clear that it is a teaser trailer and the teaser
conventions are met? And does the USP idea for the trailer
come across?
• Group 1: “Yes the USP does come across but it could be
clearer, possibly add some titles to make the storyline clearer
and more apparent.”
• Group 2: “Yes and yes, but it could be clearer in areas.”
• Group 3: “Yes and yes, however, sound needs to be improved
to a more intense song and the storyline could be clearer, lastly,
it could be a bit shorter.”
• Group 4: “It followed conventions very well but the USP isn’t
clear.”
5. Question 2: In your view, what are the teasers main
strength?
• Group 1: “There was a good pace in the trailer that had
varieties of shots and good framing in areas.”
• Group 2: “A strong part of the trailer was the voice over on the
phone, sound at the end, the man flashing in and out, the
home video is effective and editing when it flashes.”
• Group 3: “Good camera angles, sound works well with the
pace, different ranges of shots especially the last shot.”
• Group 4: “Shots and angles, costumes/props, jump cuts in the
park, phone call voiceover, hone videos and effects.
6. Question 3: How do you think the teaser could be improved?
• Group 1: “Some of the clips might not be necessary so they
could be removed to shorten the teaser, adding some titles and
ordering shots better would improve it a lot.”
• Group 2: “Cuts at the beginning make it very stop start and
slow which is confusing as we did not understand why, more
sound is needed at the beginning.”
• Group 3: “Add an ident, the storyline is confusing at the start
and the contrast of lighting should be changed in some shots.”
• Group 4: “The shot where IVY is tied up should be made
darker and the shot of the park could be darker, add an ident
and add the titles and a release date.”

11. Analysis of results?
• Gaining feedback from different groups was a very effective way
into finding out how to improve our teaser trailer. For example,
we now know that we have quite a few changes to make to the
teaser especially in areas such as editing the clips to ensure that
the plot and USP of the teaser is a lot clearer to the audience
than it was in this rough cut. Another example is improving the
sound in the teaser so that it immerses the audience into the
theme of the teaser such as adding theme songs and sound
effects that will enhance the teaser and make a big
improvement. Furthermore, we are going to edit the clips such
as making certain ones darker, others shortened, etc. We also
now know that we need to add titles and an ident to our teaser to
really help it feel well made and professional. These will help a
lot to improve the teaser and it is a very easy and effective to
retrieve feedback, we will now go through and improve all of
these areas to try and make the trailer as effective as possible.
