Taking into account those employed part time for economic reasons and discouraged workers was
16.3%. (Bureau of Labor Statistics, US Government, 2009) In Spain, the unemployment rate stood
at 18.7% (37% for youths) in May 2009 – the highest in the eurozone. (CBCNews.ca, 2009) In July
2009, the unemployment rate was reduced from 9.5% to 9.4%. Even fewer jobs were lost in August,
216,000, recorded as the lowest number of jobless since September 2008, but the unemployment
rate rose to 9.7% in October 2009, it is said that some employers who cut jobs due to the recession
are beginning to hire them back. The rise of advanced economies in China, India, and Brazil
increased the total amount of word job market significantly. With the rapid development of
communication and education in these countries, there are more workers allowed to compete with
workers in traditionally strong countries, such as the United States. This has a negative effect on
wages and contributed to unemployment. (Telegraph, 2009) In addition, Britain has equal situation
in terms of job market.

The Impacts of Outsourcing Jobs on US Labor Market
America has always been the leader in science and innovation. It has the best universities and
research labs. Many successful entrepreneurs have been raised from this nation. Thus, it has to take
benefit from these significant comparative advantages to generate new pools of jobs for its people.
As I mentioned in the introduction, we should let history to be our guide to plan for future. Toward
the end of the last century Japan was getting ahead of U.S. in most aspects of technology and
industry including in automotive and home appliance industries. Most economists at that time
predicted that in near future Japan's economy would pass America's economy, but this did not
happen. Thanks to Americans innovation and ingenuity, the Internet was born in U.S.A which
became the prevalent technology of the future and revived the U.S economy. Today, America is in
need of such innovations. The world is in shortage of energy and the oil and natural gas resources
are running out. Therefore, the price of energy will definitely increase. I believe that the capability
of storing and using alternative and renewable energies in day to day life can be the next big
discovery that is very likely to revitalize the economy and to create a new generation of jobs. Thus,
emphasizing on research on alternative energies can be a feasible strategy to maintain a healthy
workforce in the mist of outsourcing.
In addition, America should prepare its new generation for the jobs and innovations of the 21th

Relationship Between Job Accessibility And Labor Market...
Answer: We added recent studies in our literature review. Several current studies also have
attempted to explore the relationship between job accessibility and labor market outcomes. Stoll and
Covington (2012) identified that racial segregation especially between Blacks and Whites are the
primary determinant in spatial mismatch. Barton and Gibbons (2015) found that the concentration of
different forms of transit is associated with changes in neighborhood median household income.
However, Hu (2015) argued that inner–city poor job seekers do not face spatial mismatch because
their job accessibility is greater than that of job–seekers in suburban areas. As mentioned above,
they did not directly address endogeneity between accessibility and labor market outcomes. 3. Page

Market Research : Evaluating And Determining The Market...
Market Research:
Market– pricing is the other method used in combination with job classification to determine pay.
This method outweighs job classification and focuses on having a market– based structure. Valuing
jobs based on the external competitive worth it the primary focus to evaluating and determining pay
of jobs in the compensation structure. With this method, jobs are placed into a grade structure based
on the competitive pay of the job. JU jobs are matched to similar jobs in the relevant market and
valued by comparing them with comparable jobs. To initiate this process, it is important to start with
determining the market rates for benchmark jobs. Benchmark jobs are fundamental to establishing
the pay grades and structure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A specific formula is used to determine the weighted mean and should be used when evaluating
salary data.
Compensation Plan:
Job grades have been created after conducting both job classification and market data on many
benchmark jobs at JU. The benchmark jobs used conform more than 50% of JU jobs and range from
different departments, job families, and pay levels. After all the market data is collected, the
compensation team group's positions that have similar market salary ranges together into the same
pay grade. Then, market banding is used to determine the grades used for the pay structure. The
mid– point of the pay structure that has been determined will be in the 50th percentile. Upper
management, based on the university's philosophy has decided to meet the market at the 50th
percentile for all positions except for faculty and key management roles. For these positions, it has
been decided that the university will lead the market at the 75th percentile. Executive and adjunct
pay will not be part of this compensation structure and will be treated separately. To determine the
grades, positions with similar market salary data are grouped together into the same pay grade.
The same pay structure will be used for both except and non– except employees however, non–
except employees will have hourly wages. To calculate the hourly wage

World Equivocal Analysis
Equivocal can be defined as, "of doubtful nature or character and of uncertain significance; not
determined" (Https://dictionary.references.com...). I, Jacob Brickner, question everything. I wonder
what people are thinking about all the time, and I question what the future will look like. At times I
find myself casually wondering into trains of thought, those of which carry me from our reality. In
the least, you could say I find the world equivocal, questioning everything, literally everything.
Philosophy and psychology call to me with such ambition, it makes me question why? Perhaps it's
the people close to me, or even those who aren't so close. Either way, the need to help others and

Eco 372 Week 3 Job Market Trends
Amongst reading the material presented in this chapter about the job market trends, I was able to
determine that the job market is extremely dynamic and has a great rate of change depending on the
company's needs. These adjustments also affect salaries, if there is a high demand for a position
where there is a shortage in qualified candidates the salaries and benefits will be higher. As new
technologies grow, the need for employees in these areas do as well, people need to maintain their
skills up to date and seek professional growth to be able to keep up with the requirements and
challenges of this fast pacing changing job market. However, some of these changes in the job
market are being caused by the rapid change in the workforce. Companies are having to adapt some
of their philosophy and the way they view employees, because so much has changed in the way the
workforce behaves. Let's examine the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the compensation for some of the positions are lower than I expected, but as I achieve a higher level

The United States Of America
The modern society is work driven that people need to work hard to realize the general community
development goals and personal goals. Thus, work has become an integral part of the day to day
living of an average American. One needs to always have something to do in mind and strive to
grow on the job to experience greater financial success and skill development. Whether or not a
person has multiple work opportunities or succeeds in their work life is influenced by multiple
factors, some of which are within the control of the individual in question. The United States of
America has a unique work culture that is predominantly shaped by the way that the society is
stratified and the assertions that people build towards their work life. However, one thing that
remains certain is the way that culture affects the direction that a person takes in employment, on
top of the individual ability to overcome social obstacles in order to secure employment that is
favorable to an individual in terms of skill and preference. Suffice to say, the milestones attained in
one's work life is contingent to the institutional and cultural support availed by their external
environment, personal psychological strength and belief also plays a part.
Growing up as a member of a minority group in American does mean that a person needs to embody
a positive attitude works. One needs to be sure that someday, he will have to step out and secure
employment that will help attain self–sustenance and at times

The Necessity of College Degrees in Today's Job Market Essay
You're 50 years old, sitting at the bar with your best friend of over 30 years, talking about the good
ole days, reminiscing about your first love and how you looked forward to that first day of work at
the job you thought you would have for the rest of your life. Suddenly you find out that your best
friend just lost his job of thirty five years to a "snot nose kid" who just graduated college with a
bachelor degree in engineering. Not even a generation ago, most parents thought that college was a
waste of time and money. People thought that the best way to get ahead in life was to leave school,
get a job somewhere and start a family. Unfortunately, for people in the workplace today, this is no
longer the case. More colleges and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most employers are looking for people with knowledge in specific backgrounds, and most of the
time, knowing how to flip a hamburger or push a button on a machine is not going to get you into
the high paying job that you are looking for. In this day and age kids don't go to college because
they want to; they are going because they have to. Even though some may show up not knowing
what they want to major in; through the advice of student counselors, job seminars and even other
students and mentors, most students will know what they want to specialize in relatively quickly. As
long as these people actually took the time to find out what the students actual interests and goals
are; there should be no reason the student should ever resent the decision they made to stay and
further their education. On the other hand, going to college does not mean that you are going to
simply grab your diploma and walk into your dream job. Some people do get lucky enough to be
able to do that, but for the other 99.99% of us out there, there is a long and extensive process, of
entry level jobs, that we have to crawl through in order to advance up the corporate ladder; to where
we would finally like to end up. In a lot of cases people have to take jobs in fields that they don't

Emotions and Job Satisfaction
As known, job satisfaction and emotions play a major role in any organization because they
influence the behaviors. Over and above, they impact the performance, which is the most critical
factor in the growth of that organization. Job satisfaction is known as the feelings of employees
about their jobs. Apparently, whole Foods Market emphasizes on positive emotional reflections,
work environment, the quality of supervision, and the work itself in order to achieve job
satisfaction.
In the first place, John Mackey, the CEO of Whole Foods Market, wants to provide a unique
workplace environment. One of his main aims is "to help create an organization which manifests
love, joy, and happiness." As far as love, joy, and happiness are concerned as emotions, the
organization understands emotions and manages relationships in an effective way; therefore, the
CEO of Whole Foods Market has implemented the meaning of Emotional Intelligence.
The CEO also stated "Just as we are dedicated to providing excellent products and services to our
customers, we are also dedicated to creating a positive, productive, and enjoyable work
environment." Moreover, Walter Robb, the co–CEO, said about employees "We believe that their
happiness and health is essential" These indicate that Whole Foods Market aims to provide a better
work environment to get job satisfaction and job performance.

Pros And Cons Of Returning To The Job Market

More Americans Returning to the Job Market "The U.S. labor market may contain more people than
previously thought who don't have jobs and haven't been looking, which means they aren't counted
in the official unemployment statistics" (Timiraos). This miscalculation report of data means that
more people are returning to the labor force faster than the Congressional Budget Office has
anticipated. In other words, more Americans who left the workforce for a set period of time, will
reappear in the forthcoming years as demand for labor increases in the economy. The amassed
amount of labor force has resulted in the CBO lowering its estimated rate of unemployment to

When an economy is healthy, there generally are low unemployment rates and wage increases, as
businesses demand labor to meet the growing economy. As mentioned above, more Americans are
returning to the workforce, as there is a demand for labor in the economy. In a struggling economy,
it brings about lower profits for companies, resulting in lower stock prices. On the other hand, the
GDP can have the direct opposite effects. If the GDP growth rate increases to fast, it may cause the
Federal Reserve to raise interest rates to diminish inflation, thus making goods and services more
expensive. Also, if the GDP slows down too much, it can lead to a recession, and once again effect
businesses by decreasing their revenues, hiring rate, and consumer spending. Indisputably, a lower
unemployment rate can boost the economy in different ways. A lower unemployment rate results in
more jobs created and an increase in goods and services produced. For this reason, lower
unemployment rates directly correspond with furthering the GDP and the

The Structural Change Of The Inner City Job Market
The drastic reduction of stable manufacturing work in American cities remains one of the biggest, if
not the foremost, issue linked to poverty. The growth in blue–collar factory, transportation and
construction jobs that were traditionally held by men has dissipated for a variety of reasons, from
Globalization to the rise in Illegal Immigration. This structural change in the inner–city job market
is of particular interest because of the amalgamation of both Economics and Poverty/Segregation
issues. Without clearly defining and addressing this crucial structural issue, the war on poverty will
be extremely difficult to successfully address and overcome. It is difficult to overstate the extent to
which the reduction of traditional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The closure of big factories and the like ravished the Union industry, which had previously
negotiated rather lofty compensation deals with the corporations. Clerical jobs also garnered about
30% lower in wages, which added to the growing plight of poverty. Women traditionally staffed the
new clerical jobs and were aided with the rise in women's' rights. On the other hand, these men,
primarily African–American as will be discussed later, had almost no alternatives or any light at the
end of the tunnel, considering the many obstacles in their path adapting to the changing world. The
ethnic group affected most by this structural shift in job market is African Americans and played a
significant part in the continuation of their high poverty levels. The Great Migration in the late 19th
and early 20th centuries led to millions of Blacks moving North hoping for a better life and escaping
the cruel post–Civil war and Jim Crow environment in the South. As Massey writes, this led to the
formation of the black "Ghetto": highly concentrated black neighborhoods in many Northern cities.
Whilst today the Ghetto holds a negative connotation for some, it is important to note that Black
intellectuals like Booker T. Washington were actually in favor of creating such ghettos early on. In
their minds, the creation of independent, self–sustaining black neighborhoods would lead to
economic sustenance, a vibrant African–American culture a.k.a. "Harlem Renaissance",

Affirmative Action : The Education System And Job Market
Growing up, most people were told to try their hardest to succeed in life and achieve the goals they
set for themselves. Adults often told students to study often and work hard for high grades so they
could later be admitted to the college of their choice. However, once the program affirmative action
was instilled into universities around the nation, it set different qualifications for minority applicants
and assigned points based off race. With these new criteria instigated, people saw the program as
alluding to the notion that if you came from a particular race, the bar was no longer set at a high
standard and therefore no need to work as hard as before. Others saw it as a great step forward to
helping those who needed the extra assistance. Affirmative action began through President Lyndon
B. Johnson's Executive Order 11246, created with the hope of increasing diversity throughout the
education system and job market. Since it first began it has sparked debate over whether it truly
promotes equality and is as progressive as we would like to presume, or is just creating more
problems. The program has created a firm divide between those who see it as unfair and those who
believe it can still assist minorities. During a time where minorities were discriminated against,
affirmative action may have been the best option to overcome racial barriers. However, the nation
has made exceptional progress since Johnson's time as president. Now the program rather brings
more issues than

Transferability Skills Analysis
In determining employability, one must determine and consider a person's current occupational
profile, which includes their functional abilities, education, aptitudes, work experience and
transferable skills.
Just because two individuals have an identical impairment does not necessarily equate to them both
becoming work disabled. One may not be work disabled based upon her/her occupational profile.
Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists (VRS) are qualified to use work samples and standardized
testing tools, as well as to interpret physical/functional capacity information and the National
Occupational Classification Career Handbook as it pertains to the world of work. Testing materials
VRS are qualified to use (if required), usually include: general aptitude for learning, academic
abilities, vocational interest, work style and other aptitudinal profiles. The transferable skills
analysis is a very important process that can determine a person's adjusted occupational profile
based upon past performance and achievement. The evaluation process also includes determining

The Autonomous Vehicle Market Will Have On Jobs
A counterargument to the aforementioned view is the questionable impact that the autonomous
vehicle market will have on jobs. Many believe that when driverless vehicles are mass produced a
large number of people will be out of a job. There are many jobs that rely solely on transportation;
such jobs include taxi, truck, and pizza delivery drivers. Those jobs, and more, are reliant on the use
of a vehicle, and once a vehicle isn't reliant on a human those people will be out of a job. It was
estimated in 2012 more than 2.6 million jobs in America utilized a vehicle ("Hayes"). That would
equate to over 2.6 million people becoming unemployed which is equivalent to the number of jobs
lost during the recession in 2008. A majority of those workers are "classified as low–skilled
workers, with their main skill being the ability to drive" ("Hayes"). Because of their classification it
would be difficult for the unemployed to find new work. However, the creation of this new industry
would create many that could possibly offset the losses. New jobs would include "hi–tech
mechanics, software developers, and people to build new infrastructures" ("Sparkes"). People may
leave their current jobs in more low skilled positions to work for these companies opening up spots
for the low–skilled workers who lost their job. It is also thought that because of the high
technological basis for an autonomous car that they will need more maintenance and upkeep which
will create a whole new job market.

Essay About Work
Work can cause many issues with oneself and society. There can be a inner struggle in someone if
they don't like their job. Society can cause the discussion of jobs to become a controversial topic. In
the poems "Lady In The Pink Mustang" by Louise Erdrich, "The Restaurant Business" by James
Tate, and "So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs From Americans" by Jimmy Santiago Baca, the authors
use divisions and conflicts to make readers see a bigger picture.
In the poem "The Lady in the Pink Mustang" by Louise Erdrich the speaker tells the story of a
women in a pink mustang whos job seems to be working as a prostitute. Erdrich wants the readers to
get a sense that the women does not care much for her job but continues to do it. It can be
understood that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
None of these poems have a hidden meaning and each author had a significant way of showing the
meaning. Erich and Baca follow the template of poetry. Whereas, Tate uses the template of poetry in
story form. In all of these works readers can find that the speakers have an argument. In "The Lady
In The Pink Mustang" the speaker explains in the end that she is not proud of her job but she has to
make a living somehow and until she runs out of money she will do what she has to. In "The
Restaurant Business" Tate parallels to Erdrich by having the restaurant owner pose the argument
that though he works for his own sadness, if he choices to leave the business he loses his seat of
having a title and even though he hates to work that's the only bit of happiness he has left. Lastly the

Job Search Inventory
Enrollment in program would begin with taking the Job Search Attitude Inventory. Every new
woman taking residence in the home would take the job search inventory to address her attitudes
about looking for employment. Results of the inventory would allow her to consider areas for
improvement in her work skills and empower her to take more time to be self–directed in looking
for work options. This short, straightforward method of assessment would identify women who are
willing and able to seek employment. Completion of the exam takes 20 minutes and provides a
useful measure of the attitude of job seekers. Self–esteem is a strong factor in motivational thoughts

Competition Vs Nursing Job Market
I also disagree with the statement that the author believes we have lost our competitive edge. Our
nursing schools and nursing job market are the prime example of being competitive. According the
article I read that US nursing schools turned away 52,115 qualified applicants from baccalaureate
and graduate nursing programs in 2010 due to insufficient number of faculty, clinical sites,
classroom space, clinical preceptors, and budget constraints. There is fierce competition just getting
the honor of a seat in nursing school. These seats often require academic prowess and experience to
acquire. The nursing job market is very competitive. No one wants to hire the new grad nurses due
to lack of experience. So those who can't find jobs just waste

Technology 's Effects On The Future Job Market

Technology's effects on the future job market
Technologic advancements has become a very controversial topic as lots of people are worried to
lose their jobs to robots in the future. There are also people that are optimistic about how these
technological advancements can help citizens in their daily lives. A growing trend in the world has
been the constant revelations in technology that has shaped the society we live in today. There have
been many people who complain about the problems that plague the world and very few are willing
to make a change in the world. Technology can be the solution or the problem for making the world
a better place.
Lots of individuals say that technology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are also statistics that back up the claim about why people are worried about robots stealing
humans jobs. In the graph shown on Linkedin are stats from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, it shows
a major increase in unemployment for nonfarm jobs from July 2013 to July 2015.
Another aspect of life in society that can be affected by technological advancement is how education
will change to teach students new skills that can help them succeed in the future. In 2012 Mr Thrun
founded an online–education startup called Udacity, and Mr Ng co–founded another. They had some
comments on how the educational system as well the job market will be affected by new technology.
Mr Thrun who's says he founded Udacity as an "antidote to the ongoing AI revolution" (Re–
educating Rita), which will require workers to acquire new skills throughout their careers. Similarly,
Mr Ng thinks that given the potential impact of their work on the labour market, AI researchers
"have an ethical responsibility to step up and address the problems we cause"; Coursera, he says, is
his contribution. Moreover, AI technology has great potential in education. A big topic to consider
as well is how technological advancement will affect production and the economy. A good example
on how technology can help productivity is the steel industry over the past decades. "The US steel
industry really stands out: over the period 1972–2002, it witnessed impressive productivity growth –

The Interrelationship Between The Overcoat And Gogol
The interrelationship between "The Overcoat," written by Nikolai Gogol, and "Gogol," written by
Jhumpa Lahiri, may not be apparent at first, but with the help of "My Two Lives," also written by
Jhumpa Lahiri, one can see that both "The Overcoat" and "Gogol" are connected by ties that hold
them together. Although Gogol and the speaker in "My Two Lives" share similar backgrounds and
can directly relate to each other, Akaky can also connect to Lahiri and Gogol because all they all
yearn for acceptance from those around them. One point of comparison is the practice of naming
connects Akaky, from "The Overcoat", and Gogol together by having similar practices. Another
similarity between all three works is that each main character questions their identity, eventually
overcoming their struggle of being seen as different.
Both Akaky Akakiyevich, and Gogol Ganguli live in cultures where their names have substantial
meaning. Although the way that a person is named differs from culture to culture, the naming
process has similar characteristics. Readers can infer from both "The Overcoat" and "Gogol" that
names in Russian and Bengali have significant meaning and helps shape who the person is when
they grow older. However, one thing that varies greatly between these two cultures is when they are
named and how many names they have. In Russian culture, the name is picked after the baby is
born, in which the mother or elders give the child a name and hope that he or she will live up to the

In the case of "Thomas Green: power, office politics, and a career in Crisis", it describes the
dilemma of Thomas Green who works in a company called Dynamic Display. Thomas was recruited
as an account executive, and then five months later, he was promoted as a Senior Market Specialist
directly by the President Shannon McDonald. Thomas's boss Frank Davis hadn't expected to choose
Green as the new senior market specialist, and he was very dissatisfied with Green's work style and
performance three months after the promotion. After being informed that Frank Davis had emailed
McDonald about his concerns about Green's performance, Green was getting really worried about

And then he should write an email to McDonald about those analyses, as well as striving for her
understanding and asking for a chance of improvement.
Factors:
*Communication: Despite Green's relationship with Davis as a subordinate, they were less
connected with each other for their job progress and they didn't communicate well.
*Synergy: A common goal hadn't been set by Green and Davis. Green didn't agree with Davis's
opinion in forecasting sales projection that he had proposed for Green's region.
*Trust: The environment in Dynamic Displays lacked trust. On the one hand, Davis required his
subordinates to keep him informed of their progress and schedules. On the other hand, Green didn't
trust Davis's evaluation and he suspected Davis had an intention to get rid of him.
*Organization structure: The information flow structure of Dynamic Displays was not beneficial for
superiors gathering timely materials. Plus Green made numerous expressions about his concerns
about Davis to people outside the group and no feedback was stated. Therefore, it was obvious that
Dynamic Displays lacked regulation of information delivery and performance evaluation systems.
Alternative Solution:
Solution 1: Green accepts Davis's criticism, acknowledges his deficiency and asks Davis and
McDonald for a chance of improvement.
Solution 2: Green denies Davis's criticism, and writes an Email to McDonald about Davis's

Women 's Job Market And Qualifying For Senior Positions Essay
With more and more women participating in the job market and qualifying for senior positions,
gender diversity in senior and executive positions is of significance to the development of a
company (Johns,2013). Research studies show that companies with more females in top positions
perform better than those with fewer or no women. However, the phenomenon that women are
underrepresented exists globally, state Terjesen and Singh (2008). Although the status of the
women's workforce in senior occupations in the world in the last few decades has been improved in
many countries and regions(Kemp&Madsen&Davis,2015), women still remain outsiders in senior
positions in some counties. According to the data provided by Deloitte (2015), women in India
occupy fewer than 10% of seats on boards and fewer than 5% of board chairs while Norway has
legislated that 40% of the boardroom of public companies must be women, which has been achieved
within a few years. The initial progress of Norway for women impressed many western countries
and these countries tried to follow the same suit(Lang,2010). In political areas, the percent of
national parliament seats held by women of India is only 11.97% and is 7.33% lower than female
representation in governments around the world. However, Norwegian women's participation in
government takes up 39.64%. Many factors may have an impact on this case. This essay, therefore

Military Service At The Civilian Job Market Essay
Over 300,000 depart military service each year and enter the civilian job market (Faurer, Rogers–
Brodersen, & Bailie, 2014). Though the number of departing service members may seem sizeable,
for perspective, the percentage of the United States population currently serving in the military is a
mere 0.4%, or 1.3 million people (Defense Manpower Data Center, 2016). According to Faurer,
Rogers–Brodersen, and Bailie (2014), the downsizing of military operations in both Afghanistan and
Iraq hit the military services hard when congressional lawmakers swiftly started cutting budgets. As
a result, and what Neuberg (2003) described as the fundamentally deterministic nature of cause and
effect, the number of veterans entering the civilian job market increased.
Over the past 70 years, the United States averaged around $500 billion per year in defense spending
as measured in constant Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 dollars, and historically, 20% of that number goes
towards military personnel, while another 10–15% goes towards the associated training costs of
those personnel. Additionally, defense and military build–ups for the Department of Defense (DoD)
are historically common in times of unrest; peaking at $648 billion in FY 1952 for the Korean War;
$566 billion in FY 1968 for the Vietnam War; $599 billion in FY 1985 during the Cold War; and FY
$771 billion in 2008 for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Consequentially, after each war or prolonged conflict, defense spending historically

The Changing Market Of Job Market Essay
As I read the article by PwC, it states the importance of societal value has when recruiting for
potential employees for their company. The article states that, "In a survey of 1,409 chief executive
officers (CEOs), 69% said their organization's purpose is focused on societal value." This reveals
how significant and important societal values have on people. The statistics of this statement is
credible because it surveyed 1,409 CEOs which means that this reasoning is a evidence of the
changing market of job market. What these companies value from previous years to now is a lot
different. The fast pace market is influencing the job market tremendously. Newly innovated

Job Loss in the Solar Market Industry and Rice Market...
Part A Question 1 a) The government has imposed a price floor on the rice market. Two outcomes
are possible from this. If the price floor is beneath the market equilibrium value the market will
naturally move prices up to the equilibrium value. In this circumstance the price floor has no affect.
In this case the Thai government's market floor of 15,000 Baht per tonne is said to be above the
equilibrium price. This results in a binding constraint in the market; as the price tends towards the
equilibrium it stops at the price floor. This results in a surplus in quantity as the demand is lower
than the supply. 1)Price Floor Beneath Equilibrium 2)Price Floor Above Equilibrium b) Before the
price floor(above the equilibrium) was set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How total surplus is affected depends on the elasticity of the curves. If the demand curve is inelastic
then the price floor would have little effect and there would be a greater overall surplus, while if the
demand curve was elastic then the price floor would largely affect the consumer surplus and would
reduce the overall surplus. Another assumption maybe that all of the governments stock will be
resold at an equal or higher price. If this isn't the case then the government will be accruing debt and
to resolve this may increase taxes on earnings to pay off the debt resulting in a reduction of
wellbeing as the taxed money isn't being invested in projects that benefit the entire society. 2)a) If a

negative external affect as it reduces the amount of water available for other farmers to use. In
contrast if the farmer decides to decrease water consumption by using dry farming technique then it
would have a positive external affect as there would be more water available for all farmers
dependant on the aquifer. The reason there is likely to be an external affect is because all the farmers
that are dependent on the aquifer are drawing or consuming water for the same source so the
decision of an individual farmer affects all the farmers consuming water from the aquifer. b) The

The Pros And Cons Of Technology In The Workplace
According to Frontier Business, "Around one–third of companies (33%) have specific technology
budgets set aside for their marketing departments" (Frontier business). There are many ways
technology is used in the workplace the main being in their production lines. Although technology
causes some people to lose jobs, technology benefits the workplace because it is more efficient,
creates new jobs, cheaper to use technology.
While there is plenty of evidence to show that technology should be used in the workplace, there is,
of course, the opposing side. Some argue that technology should not be used in the workplace. Since
technology has been added to the workplace a significant number of people have lost their jobs.
According to, David Crane, in his article, writes, "Job losses will continue in manufacturing as more
advanced technologies, such as totally computerized assembly lines, take over production" (Crane).
If the workplace continues to add technology, then more people will lose their job; however not
everyone has lost their jobs, there has been less jobs removed than what people think. David Crane,
opposes, "The main impact of new technologies will not be on the number of total jobs but on the
changes in occupations and skill requirements in the workplace" (Crane). If you lose your jobs that
is most likely because you no longer have a skill they look for, then you will have to acquire that
new skill, or they can just hire those who already have that skill.
First reason why we should use technology in the workplace, technology benefits the workplace
because it is more efficient. In a newspaper article, Dayton Daily News, Bernard Condon, wrote,
"Year after year, the software that runs computers and an array of other machines and devices
becomes more sophisticated and capable of doing more efficiently tasks that humans once did"
(Condon). If technology continues to progress it will be able to do many different things that
increase production, then businesses will also improve the economy. Furthermore, in another
newspaper article, Toronto Star, David Crane, stated, "New technology leads to higher productivity
which can preserve existing jobs and add new ones. Higher productivity also allows companies to

Population And Immigration In Relation To The Job Market...
Population And Immigration In Relation To The Job Market
The most important factor controlling the size, variety and unemployment in the labor force is that
of population growth and decline.
Baby Boom Generation:
An interesting facet of the American job market has to do with a direct connection to W.W.II – the
"baby boom generation." (those born between 1947–57). A noticeable increase in enrollment in
public and elementary schools grew steadily from 1964 and peaked at 46 million in 1971 due to this
large group of children entering school. As they graduated or left school, the rate declined steadily
for 13 years, but the rate again grew in 1984 when the children of those baby boomers, the "baby
boomlets," came of school age. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides the frightening concept of a growth in new workers is an equally alarming increase of
experienced workers. It seems that retirement is being postponed longer and longer, and as this
occurs more competition is the effect. Baby boomers are finding that they will not be able to retire
because they cannot afford to. According to study done by the Rand Corp. a public–policy research
group based in Santa Monica, California, those retiring or soon planning on doing so have at the
best done an adequate job of saving – and this is only true if considering Medicare, Social Security,
and their private pensions continue to deliver at or near present levels. Rand also found that the total
assets of the median households nearing retirement was at about $ 99,350. This alone is hardly
enough to support a retired couple for three years given the current standard of living.
Linked to this is the decrease in younger workers that can count on receiving company–paid pension
benefits, since their employers are leaving their employees to take responsibility for their own
retirement. (Louis S Richman, "Why Baby Boomers Won't Be Able To Retire," Fortune September,
4 1995). So here you have a younger generation which is being denied job opportunities due to the
elder generation's resistance to retire because of the economy.
Another problem which arises from this situation is that

Motivation And Performance Involving Mechanical Skills

Many successful entrepreneurs have been raised from this nation. Thus, it has to take benefit from these significant comparative advantages to generate new pools of jobs for its people. As I mentioned in the introduction, we should let history to be our guide to plan for future. Toward the end of the last century Japan was getting ahead of U.S. in most aspects of technology and industry including in automotive and home appliance industries. Most economists at that time predicted that in near future Japan's economy would pass America's economy, but this did not happen. Thanks to Americans innovation and ingenuity, the Internet was born in U.S.A which became the prevalent technology of the future and revived the U.S economy. Today, America is in need of such innovations. The world is in shortage of energy and the oil and natural gas resources are running out. Therefore, the price of energy will definitely increase. I believe that the capability of storing and using alternative and renewable energies in day to day life can be the next big discovery that is very likely to revitalize the economy and to create a new generation of jobs. • 5. Relationship Between Job Accessibility And Labor Market... Answer: We added recent studies in our literature review. Several current studies also have attempted to explore the relationship between job accessibility and labor market outcomes. Stoll and Covington (2012) identified that racial segregation especially between Blacks and Whites are the primary determinant in spatial mismatch. Barton and Gibbons (2015) found that the concentration of different forms of transit is associated with changes in neighborhood median household income. However, Hu (2015) argued that inner–city poor job seekers do not face spatial mismatch because their job accessibility is greater than that of job–seekers in suburban areas. As mentioned above, they did not directly address endogeneity between accessibility and labor market outcomes. 3. Page 9, line 9: "data by census track" (needs to be TRACT) Answer: Corrected 4. Compensation Plan: Job grades have been created after conducting both job classification and market data on many benchmark jobs at JU. As new technologies grow, the need for employees in these areas do as well, people need to maintain their skills up to date and seek professional growth to be able to keep up with the requirements and challenges of this fast pacing changing job market. Thus, work has become an integral part of the day to day living of an average American. One needs to always have something to do in mind and strive to grow on the job to experience greater financial success and skill development. Whether or not a person has multiple work opportunities or succeeds in their work life is influenced by multiple factors, some of which are within the control of the individual in question. The United States of America has a unique work culture that is predominantly shaped by the way that the society is stratified and the assertions that people build towards their work life. However, one thing that remains certain is the way that culture affects the direction that a person takes in employment, on top of the individual ability to overcome social obstacles in order to secure employment that is favorable to an individual in terms of skill and preference. Suffice to say, the milestones attained in one's work life is contingent to the institutional and cultural support availed by their external environment, personal psychological strength and belief also plays a part. The Necessity of College Degrees in Today's Job Market Essay You're 50 years old, sitting at the bar with your best friend of over 30 years, talking about the good ole days, reminiscing about your first love and how you looked forward to that first day of work at the job you thought you would have for the rest of your life. Suddenly you find out that your best friend just lost his job of thirty five years to a "snot nose kid" who just graduated college with a bachelor degree in engineering. Not even a generation ago, most parents thought that college was a waste of time and money. Most employers are looking for people with knowledge in specific backgrounds, and most of the time, knowing how to flip a hamburger or push a button on a machine is not going to get you into the high paying job that you are looking for. Even though some may show up not knowing what they want to major in; through the advice of student counselors, job seminars and even other students and mentors, most students will know what they want to specialize in relatively quickly. As long as these people actually took the time to find out what the students actual interests and goals are; there should be no reason the student should ever resent the decision they made to stay and further their education. As mentioned above, more Americans are returning to the workforce, as there is a demand for labor in the economy. If the GDP growth rate increases to fast, it may cause the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates to diminish inflation, thus making goods and services more expensive. Also, if the GDP slows down too much, it can lead to a recession, and once again effect businesses by decreasing their revenues, hiring rate, and consumer spending. This structural change in the inner–city job market is of particular interest because of the amalgamation of both Economics and Poverty/Segregation issues. Adults often told students to study often and work hard for high grades so they could later be admitted to the college of their choice. However, once the program affirmative action was instilled into universities around the nation, it set different qualifications for minority applicants and assigned points based off race. With these new criteria instigated, people saw the program as alluding to the notion that if you came from a particular race, the bar was no longer set at a high standard and therefore no need to work as hard as before. Others saw it as a great step forward to helping those who needed the extra assistance. Affirmative action began through President Lyndon B. Johnson's Executive Order 11246, created with the hope of increasing diversity throughout the education system and job market. Since it first began it has sparked debate over whether it truly promotes equality and is as progressive as we would like to presume, or is just creating more problems. The program has created a firm divide between those who see it as unfair and those who believe it can still assist minorities. During a time where minorities were discriminated against, affirmative action may have been the best option to overcome racial barriers. Many believe that when driverless vehicles are mass produced a large number of people will be out of a job. There are many jobs that rely solely on transportation; such jobs include taxi, truck, and pizza delivery drivers. Those jobs, and more, are reliant on the use of a vehicle, and once a vehicle isn't reliant on a human those people will be out of a job. It was estimated in 2012 more than 2.6 million jobs in America utilized a vehicle ("Hayes"). That would equate to over 2.6 million people becoming unemployed which is equivalent to the number of jobs lost during the recession in 2008. A majority of those workers are "classified as low–skilled workers, with their main skill being the ability to drive" ("Hayes"). Because of their classification it would be difficult for the unemployed to find new work. However, the creation of this new industry would create many that could possibly offset the losses. New jobs would include "hi–tech mechanics, software developers, and people to build new infrastructures" ("Sparkes"). People may leave their current jobs in more low skilled positions to work for these companies opening up spots for the low–skilled workers who lost their job. Women 's Job Market And Qualifying For Senior Positions Essay With more and more women participating in the job market and qualifying for senior positions, gender diversity in senior and executive positions is of significance to the development of a company (Johns,2013). Although the status of the women's workforce in senior occupations in the world in the last few decades has been improved in many countries and regions(Kemp&Madsen&Davis,2015), women still remain outsiders in senior positions in some counties. • 31. Military Service At The Civilian Job Market Essay Over 300,000 depart military service each year and enter the civilian job market (Faurer, Rogers– Brodersen, & Bailie, 2014). Though the number of departing service members may seem sizeable, for perspective, the percentage of the United States population currently serving in the military is a mere 0.4%, or 1.3 million people (Defense Manpower Data Center, 2016). According to Faurer, Rogers–Brodersen, and Bailie (2014), the downsizing of military operations in both Afghanistan and Iraq hit the military services hard when congressional lawmakers swiftly started cutting budgets. As a result, and what Neuberg (2003) described as the fundamentally deterministic nature of cause and effect, the number of veterans entering the civilian job market increased. Over the past 70 years, the United States averaged around $500 billion per year in defense spending as measured in constant Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 dollars, and historically, 20% of that number goes towards military personnel, while another 10–15% goes towards the associated training costs of those personnel. Additionally, defense and military build–ups for the Department of Defense (DoD) are historically common in times of unrest; peaking at $648 billion in FY 1952 for the Korean War; $566 billion in FY 1968 for the Vietnam War; $599 billion in FY 1985 during the Cold War; and FY $771 billion in 2008 for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. • 34. Job Loss in the Solar Market Industry and Rice Market... Part A Question 1 a) The government has imposed a price floor on the rice market. Two outcomes are possible from this. If the price floor is beneath the market equilibrium value the market will naturally move prices up to the equilibrium value. In this circumstance the price floor has no affect. In this case the Thai government's market floor of 15,000 Baht per tonne is said to be above the equilibrium price. This results in a binding constraint in the market; as the price tends towards the equilibrium it stops at the price floor. This results in a surplus in quantity as the demand is lower than the supply. 1)Price Floor Beneath Equilibrium 2)Price Floor Above Equilibrium b) Before the price floor(above the equilibrium) was set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How total surplus is affected depends on the elasticity of the curves. If the demand curve is inelastic then the price floor would have little effect and there would be a greater overall surplus, while if the demand curve was elastic then the price floor would largely affect the consumer surplus and would reduce the overall surplus. Another assumption maybe that all of the governments stock will be resold at an equal or higher price. If this isn't the case then the government will be accruing debt and to resolve this may increase taxes on earnings to pay off the debt resulting in a reduction of wellbeing as the taxed money isn't being invested in projects that benefit the entire society. 2)a) If a farmer decides to continue or increase water consumption for his or her own farm it would have a negative external affect as it reduces the amount of water available for other farmers to use. In contrast if the farmer decides to decrease water consumption by using dry farming technique then it would have a positive external affect as there would be more water available for all farmers dependant on the aquifer. The reason there is likely to be an external affect is because all the farmers that are dependent on the aquifer are drawing or consuming water for the same source so the decision of an individual farmer affects all the farmers consuming water from the aquifer. b) The negative external effect described by the line,' there might ... • 38. The Pros And Cons Of Technology In The Workplace According to Frontier Business, "Around one–third of companies (33%) have specific technology budgets set aside for their marketing departments" (Frontier business). There are many ways technology is used in the workplace the main being in their production lines. Although technology causes some people to lose jobs, technology benefits the workplace because it is more efficient, creates new jobs, cheaper to use technology. While there is plenty of evidence to show that technology should be used in the workplace, there is, of course, the opposing side. Some argue that technology should not be used in the workplace. Since technology has been added to the workplace a significant number of people have lost their jobs. According to, David Crane, in his article, writes, "Job losses will continue in manufacturing as more advanced technologies, such as totally computerized assembly lines, take over production" (Crane). If the workplace continues to add technology, then more people will lose their job; however not everyone has lost their jobs, there has been less jobs removed than what people think. David Crane, opposes, "The main impact of new technologies will not be on the number of total jobs but on the changes in occupations and skill requirements in the workplace" (Crane). If you lose your jobs that is most likely because you no longer have a skill they look for, then you will have to acquire that new skill, or they can just hire those who already have that skill. First reason why we should use technology in the workplace, technology benefits the workplace because it is more efficient. In a newspaper article, Dayton Daily News, Bernard Condon, wrote, "Year after year, the software that runs computers and an array of other machines and devices becomes more sophisticated and capable of doing more efficiently tasks that humans once did" (Condon). If technology continues to progress it will be able to do many different things that increase production, then businesses will also improve the economy. Furthermore, in another newspaper article, Toronto Star, David Crane, stated, "New technology leads to higher productivity which can preserve existing jobs and add new ones. Baby Boom Generation: An interesting facet of the American job market has to do with a direct connection to W.W.II – the "baby boom generation." (those born between 1947–57). A noticeable increase in enrollment in public and elementary schools grew steadily from 1964 and peaked at 46 million in 1971 due to this large group of children entering school. It seems that retirement is being postponed longer and longer, and as this occurs more competition is the effect. Baby boomers are finding that they will not be able to retire because they cannot afford to. According to study done by the Rand Corp. a public–policy research group based in Santa Monica, California, those retiring or soon planning on doing so have at the best done an adequate job of saving – and this is only true if considering Medicare, Social Security, and their private pensions continue to deliver at or near present levels. Rand also found that the total assets of the median households nearing retirement was at about $ 99,350. This alone is hardly enough to support a retired couple for three years given the current standard of living. Linked to this is the decrease in younger workers that can count on receiving company–paid pension benefits, since their employers are leaving their employees to take responsibility for their own retirement. (Louis S Richman, "Why Baby Boomers Won't Be Able To Retire," Fortune September, 4 1995). Motivation And Performance Involving Mechanical Skills Motivation provides individuals the drive to behave and act in a certain way in order to influence their work environments (Robbins & Judge, 2014, pp. 35–36). When employees are able to influence their work environments, they can make a psychological identity with their organization that provides a sense of purpose, or meaningfulness, to their existence in their job performance and involvement (Robbins & Judge, 2014, pp. 35–36). Thus, providing employees with a higher level of job satisfaction. To promote higher levels of job satisfaction, involvement and performance, managers will utilize motivational strategies to encourage their employees to perform certain tasks (McCoy, 2012, p. 2). However, managers are recognizing that traditional incentives are no longer providing the results of behavioral physics in their organization (McCoy, 2012, p. 3). To address this dilemma, managers are looking at motivational strategies where the incentives psychologically empower their employees in their daily activities. Problem In Dan Pink's YouTube video, he discusses how incentivizing performance involving mechanical skills follows with the laws of behavioral physics, which is, if one rewards an individual for their performance, they receive more of the behavior (2010). Conversely, if they do not get rewarded, then they get less of the behavior (Pink, 2010). However, this is not the case for individuals performing rudimentary cognitive skills (Pink, 2010).
