This document provides two case studies for a nursing assignment on critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning. The first case involves a 35-year-old pregnant African American woman presenting with neck swelling, nervousness, tiredness, and issues with heat and sweating. The second case involves a 55-year-old Caucasian woman who had a stroke a week prior and is experiencing frustration, anxiety, fear, and slurred speech. For each case, students are asked to complete a chart assessing the person's subjective experience, objective findings, potential diagnoses, and relevant considerations regarding their development, socioeconomics, culture, and ethics. Additional information that may be needed for an actual diagnosis is also to be discussed.
