Beta cells are responsible
for producing the insuline
necesary for glucose entry
into the cell.
In patients with
diabetes, beta cells
don't produce
functional insuline and
this problem can
cause many
alterations in the
organism.

Researchers describe
how in many new borns
the glucose levels were
low, but the number of
beta cells were
elevated. it was
producing much
insulin, making that the
seric levels of glucose
were low.
Beta cells in this new
borns had a supression
of p57, a cell cycle
inhibitor, for that they
could reproduce
rapidly.
Beta cells from donnors
were subjected to gene
therapy were was
supressed the p57.

RESULTS:
After the transplant of the
modified cells; the study
showed that this cells had a
rapid replication and
responded efectively with
glucose.
Modified cells were
transplantated into a
diabetic mice.

I think that Its very important
continue with this studies
because in humans the
modified beta cells
replication could improve
the quality of life of many
people with diabetes.

modify their DNA
in the replication
period.
Researchers of BMC
studied the way that the
cell can generate DNA
breaks when their stay in a
resting state.

coli cells and they found
that this cell can modify
their genetic material
generating DNA breaks
when they are not
replicating their genetic
information
Changes could be
benefficious or could
generate alterations such
cancer, mutations and
antibiotic resistance.

are more
suceptible to
suffer breaks.

I think that the significance of
these studies is that in the
future will be able to avoid
some of the mutations and
antibiotic resistance that
affected thepeople now.

That studies allows us to
expand the expectations
of life of diabetic patients
because from healthy
donors and modification
of the beta cells, people
could restore their
pancreatic function.

17. MEDICAL UTILITY
In the future scientists
could detect the exact
mechanism of the DNA
breaks to avoid any
type of mutation or
disease that affect
people and correct that
before the birth.
