1. MAIN GUIDELINES
Always start by a freehand sketch in a notebook DIN A4 paper
Take into account the activity of the company you chose and what
they want to communicate in order to develop your ideas
Work several versions and possibilities
You are going to design only the symbol. Set aside the text
Once you perfectly know how your logo is going to be, start working
the geometry in a DIN A4 Basik paper sheet. Work with your
technical drawing tools and a pencil. Do not use the marker
When you are done with the geometrical stage, follow the
instructions you can see in the next slides. I developed one symbol
myself. In order to do so, I picked the company Green Blight Resorts
2. GEOMETRICAL STAGE
YOUR NAME
Your drawing will be black and white. I drew in color to make things
easier to understand
I chose a regular pentagon. You can see that everything is worked upon
angle bisectors and a set of circles
The radius of the circles in the middle are whimsical
Once you finish, show the teacher what you did. If the teacher says
OK, go ahead with the next stage
3. GEOMETRICAL STAGE
YOUR NAME
Equilateral triangles grid
YOUR NAME
Squares grid
You can also work upon grids, either based on equilateral
triangles or squares. You have on the blog everything you
need to know about these grids
4. CREATIVE STAGE
YOUR NAME
Outline with your pencil the shape of your logo
Follow the geometrical structure you started with
Once you make up your mind about your symbol, delete the underlying
geometry
5. FINAL ART STAGE
YOUR NAME
Once you have cleared up your drawing you can enhance your logo in
many different ways
This could be your final version. It is ready to deliver
6. I put above several versions of the full logo. It is usual to do so, so that the
customer can pick the one he likes the most.
You only have to hand over the final version you saw in the previous slide
7. RATIONALE
In the final stage you must give reasons about your symbol in a separate
paper.
In this sample, I worked from a pentagon because it is the symbol of
human kind. Remember that the company works to make people happy.
The shapes remind of an Asiatic letter and the colors are soft in order to
convey a relaxing feeling.
The letters in the logo look like bamboo. Most of the architecture in the
hotels of the company are made up of this material.
I also played with the idea of a sunset in a beautiful beach
