Just because something is legal, does not mean it is right for a Christian. Many Christians have accepted Satan's lie that if it is legal, it is right for Christians.

2. Jeremiah 18:7-12 The instant I speak concerning a
nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to
pull down, and to destroy it, (8) if that nation against
whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent
of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. (9) And
the instant I speak concerning a nation and
concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it, (10) if
it does evil in My sight so that it does not obey My
voice, then I will relent concerning the good with
which I said I would benefit it. (11) "Now therefore,
speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of
Jerusalem, saying, 'Thus says the LORD: "Behold, I
am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against
you. Return now every one from his evil way, and
make your ways and your doings good." ' " (12) And
they said, "That is hopeless! So we will walk
according to our own plans, and we will every one
obey the dictates of his evil heart."

3. LEGAL BUT WRONG
A.What do these dates have in common? June 26, 2015,
January 22, 1973, January 1, 1970. Legalization of same
sex marriage, Legalization of abortion, No Fault Divorce
B.The legalization of same sex marriage should be a
reminder to us as Christians, that just because something
becomes legal does not make it right.
C.Yet many “Christians” accept sinful activities when they
become legal or acceptable to the majority of society.
1.Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is
the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction,
and there are many who go in by it. (14) Because
narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads
to life, and there are few who find it.
2.Malachi 2:17 You have wearied the LORD with your
words; Yet you say, "In what way have we wearied
Him?" In that you say, "Everyone who does evil Is good
in the sight of the LORD, And He delights in them," Or,
"Where is the God of justice?"

4. I. LEGAL BUT BIBLICALLY WRONG
A. Prohibition ended 1933 - Prov 20:1 Wine is a mocker,
Strong drink is a brawler, And whoever is led astray by
it is not wise.
B. Marijuana is being legalized in states across the
country beginning with Colorado and Washington in
2012 - Ephesians 5:18 And do not be drunk with wine,
in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
C. Alcoholism is a disease 1987 - Galatians 5:19-21 Now
the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,
fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, (20) idolatry,
sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of
wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, (21)
envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of
which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in
time past, that those who practice such things will not
inherit the kingdom of God.

E. Adultery becomes acceptable - 1987 Gary Hart withdraws
from presidential race because of an adulterous
relationship – Bill Clinton committed adultery in 1998 and
left office with the highest end-of-office approval rating of
any U.S. president since World War II. - Adultery has
become acceptable and even expected in our society
today. - Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are
evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness,
lewdness, (20) idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions,
jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions,
dissensions, heresies, (21) envy, murders, drunkenness,
revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just

F. No Fault Divorce made legal – January 1, 1970 - Matthew
19:8-9 He said to them, "Moses, because of the hardness
of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but
from the beginning it was not so. (9) And I say to you,
whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality,
and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever
marries her who is divorced commits adultery."
G. Same Sex Marriage made legal – June 26, 2015 - Matthew
19:4-5 And He answered and said to them, "Have you not
read that He who made them at the beginning 'made
them male and female,' (5) and said, 'For this reason a
man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to
his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'?
H. Abortion made legal – January 22, 1973 - Jeremiah 1:4-5
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: (5)
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you
were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the
nations."

7. I. LEGAL BUT BIBLICALLY WRONG
I. Lying is acceptable in political campaign ads. 1933 -
Federal Communications Act - (U.S. Code: Title 47, Sec.
315. – Candidates for public office) (a) … If any licensee
shall permit any person who is a legally qualified
candidate for any public office to use a broadcasting
station, he shall afford equal opportunities to all other
such candidates for that office in the use of such
broadcasting station: Provided, That such licensee shall
have no power of censorship over the material broadcast
under the provisions of this section. (Upheld by courts as
late as 2014) - Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly,
unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral,
sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in
the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is
the second death.“
J. Sex before marriage has become acceptable and even
expected in our society. Almost all T.V. shows and
movies present it as a normal activity.

8. II. PRINCIPLES TO CONSIDER
A.“YOU CAN’T LEGISLATE MORALITY”
1."It may be true that morality cannot be
legislated, but behavior can be regulated. It
may be true that the law cannot make a man
love me, religion and education will have to do
that. But it can keep him from lynching me and
I think that is very important, also," Martin

2.We legislate moral actions all the time. Murder,
theft, perjury, DUI,
3.Society seems to be adhering to the old saying,
“If you can’t fight them, join them.” If an action
being illegal doesn’t deter it then make it legal.

9. II. PRINCIPLES TO CONSIDER
B.“THE END JUSTIFY THE MEANS” -
Romans 3:5-8 But if our unrighteousness
demonstrates the righteousness of God,
what shall we say? Is God unjust who
inflicts wrath? (I speak as a man.)
6 Certainly not! For then how will God
judge the world? 7 For if the truth of God
has increased through my lie to His glory,
why am I also still judged as a sinner?
8 And why not say, "Let us do evil that
good may come"?--as we are slanderously
reported and as some affirm that we say.
Their condemnation is just.

10. II. PRINCIPLES TO CONSIDER
C. REVERSAL OF VIRTUES - Isaiah 5:20-25 Woe to those
who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for
light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet,
and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe to those who are wise in
their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight! 22 Woe to
men mighty at drinking wine, Woe to men valiant for
mixing intoxicating drink, 23 Who justify the wicked for a
bribe, And take away justice from the righteous man!
24 Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble, And the
flame consumes the chaff, So their root will be as
rottenness, And their blossom will ascend like dust;
Because they have rejected the law of the LORD of hosts,
And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
25 Therefore the anger of the LORD is aroused against
His people; He has stretched out His hand against them
And stricken them, And the hills trembled. Their
carcasses were as refuse in the midst of the streets. For
all this His anger is not turned away, But His hand is
stretched out still.

11. III. WE MUST OBEY GOD NOT MEN
A. Acts 4:19-20 But Peter and John answered and said to
them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to
you more than to God, you judge. (20) For we cannot but
speak the things which we have seen and heard."
B. Acts 5:29 But Peter and the other apostles answered
and said: "We ought to obey God rather than men.
1 Samuel 15:24 Then Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned,
for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD
and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed
their voice.
C. Mark 7:6-7 He answered and said to them, "Well did
Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: 'This
people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far
from Me. (7) And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as
doctrines the commandments of men.'

12. IV. WE MUST DISTINGUISH
BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL.
A.HATE GOOD AND LOVE EVIL? - Micah 3:1-12 And I said:
"Hear now, O heads of Jacob, And you rulers of the house
of Israel: Is it not for you to know justice? 2 You who hate
good and love evil; Who strip the skin from My people,
And the flesh from their bones; 3 Who also eat the flesh of
My people, Flay their skin from them, Break their bones,
And chop them in pieces Like meat for the pot, Like flesh
in the caldron." 4 Then they will cry to the LORD, But He
will not hear them; He will even hide His face from them at
that time, Because they have been evil in their deeds.
5 Thus says the LORD concerning the prophets Who
make my people stray; Who chant "Peace" While they
chew with their teeth, But who prepare war against him
Who puts nothing into their mouths: 6 "Therefore you
shall have night without vision, And you shall have
darkness without divination; The sun shall go down on
the prophets, And the day shall be dark for them. >>>

13. IV. WE MUST DISTINGUISH
BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL.
7 So the seers shall be ashamed, And the diviners
abashed; Indeed they shall all cover their lips; For there is
no answer from God." 8 But truly I am full of power by the
Spirit of the LORD, And of justice and might, To declare to
Jacob his transgression And to Israel his sin. 9 Now hear
this, You heads of the house of Jacob And rulers of the
house of Israel, Who abhor justice And pervert all equity,
10 Who build up Zion with bloodshed And Jerusalem with
iniquity: 11 Her heads judge for a bribe, Her priests teach
for pay, And her prophets divine for money. Yet they lean
on the LORD, and say, "Is not the LORD among us? No
harm can come upon us." 12 Therefore because of you
Zion shall be plowed like a field, Jerusalem shall become
heaps of ruins, And the mountain of the temple Like the
bare hills of the forest.

14. IV. WE MUST DISTINGUISH
BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL.
B. 1 Kings 3:9 Therefore give to Your servant an
understanding heart to judge Your people, that I
may discern between good and evil. For who is
able to judge this great people of Yours?"
C. Hebrews 5:12-14 For though by this time you
ought to be teachers, you need someone to
teach you again the first principles of the oracles
of God; and you have come to need milk and not
solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of
milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness,
for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to
those who are of full age, that is, those who by
reason of use have their senses exercised to
discern both good and evil.

15. V. DEPART FROM EVIL AND DO GOOD.
A.1 Peter 3:10-11 For "He who would love
life And see good days, Let him refrain his
tongue from evil, And his lips from
speaking deceit. 11 Let him turn away from
evil and do good; Let him seek peace and
pursue it.
B.IT IS FOOLISH TO DO EVIL. - Jeremiah
4:22 "For My people are foolish, They
have not known Me. They are silly children,
And they have no understanding. They are
wise to do evil, But to do good they have
no knowledge."

gracious to the remnant of Joseph.
E. Psalm 34:14 Depart from evil and do
good; Seek peace and pursue it.

not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in
which all who are in the graves will hear His

done good, to the resurrection of life, and
those who have done evil, to the resurrection
of condemnation.
C. FAVOR OR TROUBLE IN THIS LIFE - Proverbs
11:27 He who earnestly seeks good finds
favor, But trouble will come to him who seeks
evil.

19. IT’S YOUR CHOICE
A.OUR CHOICE BLESSING OR CURSING. - Deuteronomy
30:15-20 "See, I have set before you today life and good,
death and evil, 16 in that I command you today to love the
LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His
commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you
may live and multiply; and the LORD your God will bless
you in the land which you go to possess. 17 But if your
heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn
away, and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I
announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you
shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross
over the Jordan to go in and possess. 19 I call heaven and
earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before
you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose
life, that both you and your descendants may live; 20 that
you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His
voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and
the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land
which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac,
and Jacob, to give them."

B. NOT REWARDING GOOD BRINGS EVIL. - Proverbs
17:13 Whoever rewards evil for good, Evil will not
depart from his house.
C. A lie doesn’t become truth, wrong doesn’t become
right and evil does not become good, just because
it is deemed legal by our society.
D. WE WILL BE JUDGED BY GOD’S BOOKS NOT U.S.
LAW BOOKS - Revelation 20:12-13 And I saw the
dead, small and great, standing before God, and
books were opened. And another book was
opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead
were judged according to their works, by the
things which were written in the books. (13) The
sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death
and Hades delivered up the dead who were in
them. And they were judged, each one according
to his works.

21. IT’S YOUR CHOICE
E. One of Satan’s favorite tools is to convince
us that God will not punish us for our sin. -
Genesis 3:2-5 And the woman said to the
serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of
the garden; (3) but of the fruit of the tree
which is in the midst of the garden, God has
said, 'You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch
it, lest you die.' " (4) Then the serpent said to

God knows that in the day you eat of it your
eyes will be opened, and you will be like God,
knowing good and evil.“
