Traditional commerce refers to the practice of selling products
and services within a single industry and in some cases, within a
specific geographical area. Traditional commerce relies on
operating business hours during a specific period of time and
requires housing inventory or occupying a retail store.
◦In contrast to e-commerce that relies on online sales, drop shipments
and 24 hour access for consumers, traditional commerce relies more
on local consumers interacting with sales executives, managers,
customer service personnel and accountants personally versus
through electronic mediums.
◦Businesses deemed as traditional commerce handle advertising,
inventory shipping and creation of products and services in-house
with a staff of employees in close proximity.
• Advantages
 Consumers can test the product before purchase.
 It helps a person feel better about the environment they are in. (That is if it is in a shop)
 The owner cannot lose money since there are no hackers and scammers in the real
world.
 People without internet can visit stores for items.
 Rip-off merchants can be caught easier than scammers

The term electronic commerce (ecommerce) refers to a business model that
allows companies and individuals to buy and sell goods and services over the
Internet. Ecommerce operates in four major market segments and can be
conducted over computers, tablets, smartphones, and other smart devices.
Nearly every imaginable product and service is available through ecommerce
transactions, including books, music, plane tickets, and financial services such
as stock investing and online banking. As such, it is considered a
very disruptive technology.
As noted above, ecommerce is the process of buying and selling
tangible products and services online. It involves more than one
party along with the exchange of data or currency to process a
transaction. It is part of the greater industry that is known as
electronic business (ebusiness), which involves all of the
processes required to run a company online.
