1. Science Fair 2014
Introduction
The 2014 Science Fair will give you an opportunity to explore a scientific question
that you would like to answer.
You may choose a question from the list below or create a question of your own and
get it checked by your teacher.
You will then plan and conduct an experiment by following the scientific method.
The steps to the scientific method are as follows:
o Ask a Question
o Do Background Research
o Construct a Hypothesis
o Test Your Hypothesis by Doing an Experiment
o Analyze Your Data and Draw a Conclusion
o Communicate Your Results - to do this you need to create a display. There
are some examples on the next few pages.
Deadlines
The Science Fair will take place on WEDNESDAY 18TH JUNE.
Your display boards need to be complete and brought in to school by THURSDAY
12TH JUNE.
You will have some time in class to complete this project but the majority of work
will be completed at home as your HOMEWORK for term 3.
You will need to work with your group and arrange a regular time when you can

You can work in groups of up to three people BUT you must work in groups of
people within your science class.
