Under One Roof Project was a compulsory activity for first year medical students in the Twinning Programme between Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Universitas Padjadjaran in Indonesia. The project involved visiting residents of Jalan Kolanel Ahmad Syam village and an orphanage to improve quality of life and foster relationships. Students participated in icebreakers, games, prayers, and visiting homes alongside village residents and orphans. The project aimed to develop leadership, teamwork, empathy, and understanding between the universities and the community. It concluded with participants feeling they had learned valuable lessons through actively participating in the activities.

2. Under One Roof Project
The weekend of 13th April this year will forever be etched in the minds of the 36
participants from Twinning Programme Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia – Universitas
Padjadjaran who went for a visit to Jalan Kolanel Ahmad Syam. This visit was organized by
first year Twinning Programme medical students. This program was held at Jalan Kolanel
Ahmad Syam, No.64, RT4/RW5 Cikeruh, Jatinangor, which is located about 3 kilometres
away from our campus. Under One Roof Project was compulsory activity for all of first year
Twinning Programme students as this activity was for our credit hour for Univerisiti
Kebangsaan Malaysia curricular activity. The objective of this programme were to instil
leadership qualities and improve teamwork among participants. As an evident, all activities
were conducted by youth leaders among them. Instead of that, our intention was to help those
people who are in need, by improving their quality of life, besides bringing Universiti
Kebangsaan Malaysia and Universitas Padjadjaran name to be established. Our objective by
organizing this programme also was to show our sympathy, empathy and responsibility
towards people as we are also among them. Throughout the day, where this project involving
people around RT4/RW5 district and also orphanage from Rumah Asuhan Panti Simpay
Asih, all of them were very excited, especially the kids. Upon arrival on the morning, we
started our programme with the opening of Under One Roof programme by Mr. Syed Abdul
Kadir Alhaddad , the President of Kelab UMNO Bandung Indonesia. After that, all of us have
some breakfast. After enjoying the morning meal, which was Indonesian cuisine cake, then,
we’re proceed with the activity. First, we were doing the ice breaking. The main purpose of
ice breaking was to know each other better especially those village peoples and the
orphanage. This activity quite take a some time, as they were many of them. After the ice
breaking, they were put into group of five, with each group consist of medical students,
village peoples and also orphanage kids. Then, we played variety of games starting from
filling bottle with water, a couple run and also rope pulling. Most of them enjoyed with the
activities. Then, after done with all of the activities, then we continued with Zuhur Prayer’s.
The prayers was Imam’s by Dzulkifly which is one of Twinning students. After Zuhur
prayers, then, we proceed with the hearty lunch. We’re having lunch in group. The lunch was
a great time, as the bonding between us getting better. We proceed with our main activity
which was a visit to their house. This visit was not involving all of the house around the
village. We’re just gave a visit to the house those who are in need to give our donation. The
main purpose of the visit, was to know how was the real condition of people in Jalan Kolanel
Ahmad Syam. After the visit, the project had finally came to a closed. We’re closing our
project by making a video of the summary of the programme and a performanced from the
orphanage. This project was a success because all participants showed tremendous support by
actively participating in all the activities throughout the programme. As conclusion, we learnt
the importance of teamwork, the value of empathy and sympathy, consideration, tolerance
and understanding. Most importantly, we learnt that a good leadership is a responsible
leadership.
