Have a book talk about the upcoming books and have students choose from the 4 options.
Success Criteria: I can discuss the points with my group mates using good talk.
I can use the vocabulary words in a sentence showing that I understand the meaning of the words.

Activity: Read the assigned chapter. Work as a book club to find and use the vocabulary words. Also, students will
discuss questions from the Discussion Topics. (Sheets in binders in reading)
Success Criteria: I can find words in my book to read them in context and understand what they mean. I can discuss
the answers to the questions given.

Activity: Students will use the classroom-created checklists to continually revise their significant pieces of
writing.
Share the teaching point with the students.
Share mentor checklists you have found. These are references for today’s task. Select only those which are
useful and favorites of yours.
Have students review writing, rewriting, generating and revision strategies from the unit.
Students may work in partnerships to select 3-5 items from previous sessions that have best helped them improve their
personal narratives. They may also draw on prior knowledge of writing to add further to the conversation.

correct one student's free-write for our convention corrections.

Share how proud you are of each of the students, who have dedicated themselves to the improvement of their
personal narrative writing skills. Explain how it will affect their writerly lives from this day forward.

Stress how the writers should feel a sense of accomplishment and achievement for all of their efforts and hard
work.
