A presentation of the students of Asopia Junior and Senior High school about the Body Language. It was created for the celebration of the European Day of Languages

1. ΕΥΡΩΠΑΪΚΗ ΗΜΕΡΑ ΓΛΩΣΣΩΝ
2015-2016

2.  This year, in Assopia Junior and Senior High school,
Greece, we decided to celebrate the European Day of
Languages by preparing a presentation about the
Body Language.
 Some other activities are going to take place in our
school such as painting, making posters, quizzes and
discussions about the use of languages.
 Τη φετινή χρονιά, στο γυμνάσιο με λυκειακές τάξεις
Ασωπίας, αποφασίσαμε να γιορτάσουμε την
Ευρωπαϊκή Ημέρα Γλωσσών φτιάχνοντας μια
παρουσίαση για τη γλώσσα του σώματος.
 Θα πραγματοποιηθούν κι άλλες δραστηριότητες στο
σχολείο μας όπως ζωγραφική, κατασκευή αφίσας,
κουίζ και συζητήσεις για τη χρήση των γλωσσών.

3.  Body language and hand gestures are a way of
communicating with others and conveying your
feelings. These gestures are most helpful when
one is speaking to someone with no language in
common. The meanings of hand gestures in
different cultures may translate into different
things.
 Η γλώσσα του σώματος και οι χειρονομίες είναι
ένας τρόπος επικοινωνίας με τους άλλους και
έκφραση των συναισθημάτων. Οι χειρονομίες
αυτές βοηθούν όταν κάποιος συνομιλεί με
κάποιον άλλον χωρίς να έχουν κοινή γλώσσα. Η
ερμηνεία των χειρονομιών είναι διαφορετική
ανάλογα με την κουλτούρα.

5.  The thumbs up sign
means things are going
according to your plans
or something you
approve of.
 Ο αντίχειρας
ανασηκωμένος δηλώνει
ότι τα πράγματα πάνε
όπως τα έχει κανείς
σχεδιάσει ή ότι
επικροτούμε κάτι.
 Like, bravo, yes, O.K.!!!

6.  The thumbs down sign is
an indication of something
that is bad or something
that you do not approve
of. It also indicates that
something or someone has
failed.
 Όταν ο αντίχειρας δείχνει
προς τα κάτω είναι
ένδειξη ότι κάτι είναι κακό
ή ότι δεν το εγκρίνεις.
Επίσης δηλώνει ότι κάτι ή
κάποιος έχει αποτύχει.

7.  In Greece we cross our
fingers before telling a lie,
as it is believed to
countervail the evil that
comes of the lie.
 Στην Ελλάδα σταυρώνουμε
τα δάχτυλα πριν πούμε
ένα ψέμα, καθώς
θεωρείται ότι διώχνει το
κακό που επιφέρει ένα
ψέμα. Επίσης κάνουμε
αυτή την κίνηση όταν
ευχόμαστε κάτι.

8.  In Greece, this gesture is a
traditional manual insult. It
means that you are thrusting
your hand in the face of the
opposite person using a brash
'na, parta'. This suggests that
you are telling the person
that he/she is idiot and ask
him/her to leave you alone.
 Στην Ελλάδα, η χειρονομία
αυτή είναι μια παραδοσιακή
βρισιά. Σημαίνει ότι λες στο
πρόσωπο στο οποίο τείνεις το
χέρι σου με ανοιχτά τα
δάχτυλα δηλώνοντας ότι
είναι ανόητο ή/και του ζητάς
να σε αφήσει ήσυχο.

9. The dog call is a gesture
where you curl your finger
and summon someone
towards you. This movement
in Greece means that you
just call someone to come or
follow you. It’s not an
insulting gesture.
Το κάλεσμα του σκύλου είναι
μια χειρονομία που σημαίνει
ότι καλείς κάποιον να σε
ακολουθήσει. Για την Ελλάδα
δεν είναι βρισιά.

10.  The Okay or O.K sign is
mostly considered on of
the good hand gestures.
The hand gesture is used
by curling the index finger
over the thumb and the
remaining fingers
extended above them.
This means that
everything is good, well or
O.K. (from the greek
words “Ola kala” meaning
everything goes well.
 Η χειρονομία αυτή
θεωρείται από τις καλές
χειρονομίες. Σημαίνει ότι
όλα πάνε καλά.

11.  Snapping fingers over and
over may mean one is
trying to remember
something someone has
forgotten.
 In Greece it is also used
when dancing to give the
rhythm.
 Η κίνηση αυτή του χεριού
δείχνει ότι προσπαθούμε
να θυμηθούμε κάτι.
 Στην Ελλάδα
χρησιμοποιείται επίσης
όταν χορεύουμε για να
δώσουμε το ρυθμό.

12.  This hand gesture is an
indication of a dominant -
to - subordinate behavior in
the professional world. It is
considered a gesture to
single out an individual
from a crowd. In Greece it’s
an aggressive and rude
gesture.
 Η χειρονομία αυτή είναι
ένδειξη κυριαρχίας σε
κατώτερο. Θεωρείται ότι
ξεχωρίζει ένα άτομο από το
πλήθος. Στην Ελλάδα είναι
επιθετική και αγενής
χειρονομία.

13.  This hand gesture is
considered as the symbol
of the devil in Greek
culture. The two pointing
fingers indicate the horns
of the Devil. It’s usually
used by rock fans.
 Η χειρονομία αυτή
θεωρείται σύμβολο του
διαβόλου στην ελληνική
κουλτούρα καθώς
συμβολίζει τα κέρατα του
διαβόλου. Χρησιμοποιείται
συνήθως από τους
ροκάδες.

14.  One of the aggressive
hand gestures is the
clenched fist. This means
one is trying to pick up a
fight or trying to warn the
opposite person to back
off.
 Μια από τις επιθετικές
χειρονομίες είναι το
σφίξιμο της γροθιάς.
Σημαίνει ότι κάποιος
προσπαθεί να ξεκινήσει
καυγά ή προειδοποιεί τον
αντίπαλο να υποχωρήσει.

15. One of the most offensive and
rude hand gestures around the
world is the finger. The middle
finger-pointing upwards is
considered as an obscene
gesture. In some
Mediterranean and Arab
countries, holding the index
finger instead of the middle
finger, implies the same
obscene gesture.
Από τις πιο προσβλητικές και
αγενείς χειρονομίες. Σε μερικές
Μεσογειακές και Αραβικές
χώρες η χειρονομία αυτή
σημαίνει το ίδιο αλλά με
ανασήκωμα του δείκτη και όχι
του μεσαίου.

16.  Fingers forming a
V in Greece is a
sign of peace or
victory.
 Αυτό στην Ελλάδα
είναι το σήμα της
ειρήνης.

17. ΓΛΩΣΣΑ ΤΟΥ ΣΩΜΑΤΟΣ

18.  This gesture means
that you are
ignorant, you do
not know what to
say or what to do.
 Η κίνηση αυτή του
σώματος σημαίνει
ότι δεν γνωρίζεις
τι να πεις ή τι να
κάνεις.

19.  We usually do this gesture
when we wonder about
who has done or said
something? We usually
don’t accept the guilt or
we are ready to deny it.
 Συνήθως κάνουμε αυτή τη
χειρονομία όταν
αναρωτιόμαστε για το αν
είμαστε εμείς στον οποίον
απευθύνεται ο ομιλητής, ή
αν έχουμε πει ή κάνει
κάτι. Συνήθως την
κάνουμε όταν έχουμε
σκοπό να αρνηθούμε την
κατηγορία.

20.  Hands in pocket
means that you
are cool and
everything goes
well.
 Η στάση του
σώματος με τα
χέρια στην τσέπη
δηλώνουν ότι είσαι
άνετος κι ότι όλα
πάνε καλά.

21.  This body attitude with
hands on hips means that
either you want to
defend yourself or you
are aggressive.
 Τα χέρια στους γοφούς
είναι αμυντική κίνηση,
όταν προσπαθείς να
αμυνθείς σε κάποια
επίθεση αλλά κι όταν
είσαι επιθετικός.
