This presentation is prepared by komal choithnani, explains about chapter-1 chemical Reactions and Equations of NCERT class 10. It also includes types of chemical Reactions, corrosion and rancidity.
3. What are Chemical Reactions ?
- Phenomenon which is
responsible for Chemical
Change
- In a Chemical
Reaction, The
reactants combine
together to form
Completely new
substance called
products
4. How do we identify a Chemical Reaction ?
A chemical Reaction can be identified by following four
factors:-
Change in Colour (E.g. Ripening of mango )
Change in State (E.g. Burning of Iodine )
Change in Temperature (E.g. Burning of
crackers )
Evolution of Gas (E.g. Cooking of Food )
5. Writing a Chemical Equation.
There are basically Three ways to write Chemical
Equation:-
Sentence Form:-
When Magnesium Ribbon is burnt in presence of
oxygen it gets converted into Magnesium oxide.
Word Equation:-
Magnesium + Oxygen Magnesium Oxide
7. Balancing Chemical Equation:-
Step 1. First, write the number of molecules of
elements on both sides. To find out the number of
molecules in the equation, check the numbers of each
molecule –
Step 2. Now, select any element to start balancing. So
let us balance the Nitrogen molecule first.
8. Step:3: Now, the no. of nitrogen atoms is balanced.
However the no. of hydrogen is not. So balancing Hydrogen
atom
Thus, The above Equation is balanced.
13. Electrolytic Decomposition Reaction
Reactions in which
compounds decompose
into smaller compounds
because of passing of
Electricity
Eg:- In the Electrolysis of
water, water decomposes
into Hydrogen and water
