### Physical Changes

1. 1. Physical Changes S
2. 2. What is a physical change? A physical change is a change in which no new material forms. Physical changes do not change the kind of matter an object is made up of. When you cause a physical change in a material you change one of its physical properties (a feature you can observe with your senses or measure)
3. 3. What is a physical change? If you take a piece of paper and cut it into pieces, crumple it into a ball, and even smooth it out again, you have changed the size and shape of the paper but it is still paper.
4. 4. What is a physical change?
5. 5. What is a physical change? Most physical changes can be reversed or undone. Some more easily than others.
6. 6. What is a physical change? This modeling clay can be molded and changed to make objects. It’s shape can then change back to it’s original block.
7. 7. What is a physical change? A change in state is a physical change. No new material forms. Like most physical changes, a change in state can be reversed.
8. 8. What is a physical change? You cause a physical change when you make a mixture. A mixture is made up of two or more materials. You combine different materials in a mixture, but no new materials form. The materials are mixed together but the parts keep their own properties.
9. 9. What is a physical change? A salad is an example of a mixture.
10. 10. What is a physical change? A solution is a mixture that is formed when a solid is dissolved into a liquid. Did we create something new or is the sugar still sugar and the water still water?
11. 11. What is a physical change? This is another example of a physical change. It is not easily reversed, but if we let the water evaporate, the sugar would be left in the bottom of the glass.
12. 12. What is a physical change? TO SUMMARIZE: A physical change is a change in which no new materials form. Physical changes affect the properties of matter but do not change the kind of matter it is made of. A change in state is a physical change. A mixture is made by combining two or more materials together.
