1. NetStorage – Staff Accessing Files from Home
To access files from home:
• Open your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.)
• Type the following url in the location bar (The url should be typed exactly as below as
this address is case sensitive.):
https://712staff.svsd.net/oneNet/NetStorage
* Note: In the near future this address will be changed to https://myfiles.svsd.net or
something similar. You will be notified when this occurs.
• You may get a notification that there is a problem with the website security certificate –
Select “Continue to this website (not recommended).”
• Bookmark the page and you can go there quickly next time (Go to Add Favorites).
• You will log in with your Novell login name.your context and password just as you
would at school. For example, a login name would be: duckd.staff.sec.sv or
duckd.staff.ele.sv
To download a file from the school server to your home computer for editing:
• Double click on the network drive containing the file you would like to access.
• Right click on the file, select download and save to your home hard drive. (You may get
a message from the information bar “Did you notice. . .” Click close then click on the
Information Bar and select “Download File.”)
• Select “Save” then use the “Save as” dialog box to select the folder where you wish to
save the file in. Click “Save”. After the Download is complete select “Close.”
• Make sure that you observe where you save the file on your home hard drive.
• Open the file as you would any other file. Note that this can only be done if you have the
same program on your home computer that you created the document with. For example,
a Word document will only open at home if you have Word on your home computer.
To upload a file to the school server:
• Make sure to save your changes before proceeding.
• Go to the file menu directly above the folder menu (not the file menu for the browser)
and click upload. If you get a window that says “Upload. . . this feature requires that you
disable the pop-up blocker for the site 7-12staff.svsd.net,” select close. Go to Tools >
Pop-Up Blocker > Select “Always allow pop-ups from this site.” You will get a box
“Would you like to allow pop-ups from 712staff.svsd.net?” Select “Yes.”
• Browse your home computer’s hard drive for the file you wish to upload. Select the
folder you want to upload to. NOTE: if it is the same folder where the file was originally
downloaded from, it will automatically overwrite your file. Select the “Browse”, find the
file, select “Open” and select upload.
• Upload the file.
• Select Logout when you are finished.
