2. Step 1
• Go to Virginia Wizard’s homepage
• www.virginiawizard.org
Welcome to the Virginia Education Wizard
Let the Wizard help you choose a career, get the information you
need to pursue your career, find the college that is right for you,
pay for college, transfer from a community college to a
university, and get answers to your questions about your future.

3. Step 2
• Create an account by clicking “Create an Account”
• Create a User Name
• Be sure to follow the requirements when setting up your password
• Use your student email address

4. Step 3
• Click on “Career Assessment”

5. Step 4
• Press “Start” to be taken to the Interest Assessment

6. Step 5
• Click “Start Assessment”
• There are 72 statements to read. There are no right or wrong answers. The
more you answer, the more accurate your results will be.

7. Step 5 (continued)
• Read each statement and select:
• Thumbs Up if you think you would like the work activity
• ? if you are not sure
• Thumbs Down if you do not think you would like the work activity

8. Step 6
• Once you have finished, you will receive a list of potential careers based on
your likes and dislikes. Results are listed in alphabetical order and vary
based on the amount of education
• Be sure to click on each tab to view your options:
* Less than 2 year degree * 4-year degree
* 2-year degree * 4-year degree or higher

9. Step 7
• Pay attention to the careers labeled as “In Demand” in green

10. Step 8
• Make sure you look at the salaries for careers of interest
• Note: beginning salary and median salary

11. Step 9
• Finally, create a list of potential career choices.
• Keep in mind careers that are “In Demand” for this area, amount of
education required, and starting & median salary

12. Keep Exploring
• Please browse through the website. The Virginia Wizard is a great resource
to connect you to what you need when applying to college and choosing a
