1. Profanity in the Workplace
Profanity is language or behavior that is considered to be vulgar, rude
or offensive. Whatis offensiveto someonemay notbe seen as
offensive to someone else. Also, how offensive something is varies
from personto person. Therefore, the use of profanity in everyday
life, such as in the workplace, can be deemed appalling or even
disrespectfulto those around us.
Significance
Profanity in the workplace is inappropriate and unprofessional.
Oftentimes, employees are unaware how their words or
behaviorsoffend others since othersmay be reluctantto
make their feelings known. As such, the behaviorcontinues
and more seriousproblemscan arise.Whetherintentional or
not, profanity has the potential to damage others.
Effects
The use of profanity can resultin co-workers being insulted
whether it was intended or not. It can also lead to a negative
or hostile working environment.Other employeesmay notify
their supervisorof this behavior or even file a complaint with the
Human Resources department. Some may take matters into
their own hands, which may lead to violence. Those who use
profanity in the workplace tendto be viewed as lacking
characteror crude.
The use of profanity at work can cause an employee to be sued.
The Employee exposed to inappropriate language, gesturesor
behaviorsshould file a harassmentor discriminationlawsuit due
to the extreme profanity they are being exposed to. Doing so In the
event the Human Resources or appropriate departments/ department
heads within the Company do not or can not rectify the situation(s).

Dear METRO NEWS:
This letter has two purposes: to formally submit a complaint, and
to put the facts of the situation on record. The subject of my
complaint is the treatment I received JANUARY 23, 2012 by my
co-worker JUAN.
Please note that I have been an employee at METRO NEWS since
MAY 25, 2010. I have every reason to believe that I am a
dedicated and outstanding employee. I am confident that I
exhibit the highest work ethics and treat my supervisors and co-
workers with respect.
My complaint, in brief, is that JAUN AND HIS EXTENSIVE USE OF
PROFANITY, AND RACIAL SLURES HAS been harassing me on
several occasions. The latest event has been extremely shocking.
As a result, I have made the decision, despite great difficulty, to
make a formal complaint PER MY MEETING WITH MY MANAGER
DAVID TODAY AT 12NOON.
3. I am sure that company policy must prohibit or discourage this
kind of behavior. In fairness, I should point out that JUAN might
not have intended his first occasion of this behavior toward me.
However, despite my clearly negative reaction, and the
reprimand from my supervisor, he continues to harass me.
I want to reiterate that I am a loyal employee, and work hard to
get the job done in a professional manner. I do not need the
added pressure of discourteous treatment. I trust you will agree,
and I look forward to your assurance that it will not occur again.
I would also appreciate an apology or other recognition of the
error, directly from JUAN. I feel this is an entirely fair request.
I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE THE BASIS FOR ME
GETTING CLOCKED OUT ON YESTERDAY LIES. I HAVE A FAMILY
AND A MINISTRIE TO TAKE CARE OF AND RUN, AND I DONT
FEEL IT WAS NECESSARY FOR ME TO CLOCKED OUT.
I ACTED IN THE LIGHT IN WHICH I DID DUE TO THE FACT THAT
THERE WAS NO MANAGER PRESENT. AND IN REFERENCE TO THE
3 SO-CALLED WITNESSES THAT HAVE CONJURED UP VERY
DEFERMATIVE STATEMENTS AGAINST ME, IM NOT SURPRISED.
HOWEVER, ANYTHING THAT HAS BEEN STATED AGAINST ME IS
NOT ACCURATE. I AM DISLIKE BY MANY AT METRO NEWS DUE
TO THE FACT THAT I AM A WHISTLE BLOWER. I CALL IT OUT TO
BE EXPOSED WHEN WRONG IS PRESENT. THAT IS THE RIGHT
THING TO DO.
WHISTLE BLOWERS ARE NOT LIKED, AND THATS UNDERSTOOD,
BUT AS A EMPLOYEE OF METRO NEWS SERVICES, I DESERVE TO
WORK COMFORTABLY IN A PROFESSIONAL AND SAFE
ENVIORMENT. AND LATELY, IT HAS NOT BEEN.
Please let me know how you will resolve this.
Sincerely,
STANLEY STEWART (PASTOR) REP# 23738
