An image is an artifact that depicts visual
perception, for example, a photo or a two-
dimensional picture, that has a similar
appearance to some subject—usually a
physical object or a person, thus providing a
depiction of it. In context of image signal
processing, an image is a distributed amplitude
of color.

• JPEG is a commonly used method of lossy
compression for digital images, particularly for
those images produced by digital photography.
The degree of compression can be adjusted,
allowing a selectable tradeoff between storage
size and image quality.

• The Graphics Interchange Format, better
known by its acronym GIF, is a bitmap image
format that was developed by a team at the
bulletin board service provider CompuServe
led by American computer scientist Steve
Wilhite on June 15, 1987.

Portable Network Graphics is a raster graphics
file format that supports lossless data
compression. PNG was created as an
improved, non-patented replacement for
Graphics Interchange Format. PNG supports
palette-based images, grayscale images, and
full-color non-palette-based RGB/RGBA
images

• Clip art, in the graphic arts, is pre-made
images used to illustrate any medium. Today,
clip art is used extensively. Clip art comes in
many forms, both electronic and printed.
However, most clip art today is created,
distributed, and used in an electronic form

• A shape is the form of an object or its external
boundary, outline, or external surface, as
opposed to other properties such as color,
texture or material composition.

15. Smart Art
• SmartArt is a new type of graphical tool
included in the latest versions of
Word. SmartArt is, basically, a way to make
organized presentation art. (Some folks think
that SmartArt was created as a tool primarily
for PowerPoint.) It is suitable for
"organizational" types of artwork, such as org
charts and process lists.

17. Chart
• A data chart is a type of diagram or graph, that
organizes and represents a set of numerical or
qualitative data. Maps that are adorned with
extra information (map surround) for a specific
purpose are often known as charts, such as a
nautical chart or aeronautical chart, typically
spread over several map sheets.

• A screenshot is a digital image of what should
be visible on a monitor, television, or other
visual output device. A common screenshot is
created by the operating system or software
running on the device. A screenshot or screen
capture may also be created by taking a photo
of the screen.
