One of the most famous religious splits in human history is the well known Sunni–Shia split. The Sunni–Shia split is highly divisive throughout the
world, and predominantly in the Middle East. These sects share similarities, such as they all believe that Allah is the one true god, and Muhammad is
his messenger. They also believe in the same five religious pillars that Muslims follow. Although these sects are very similar, there is one big
schismatic difference that separates the two. This difference lies with the question of: "Who is the rightful successor of the Prophet Muhammad?"

The Sunni and Shiite branches of Islam have been feuding for hundreds of years dating back to the beginning of the Islamic religion. The deity or god

Women are often frowned upon in many societies. Although most do not, some societies make it possible for women to be equal. When not equal,
women are usually forced to do things beyond their will. When women are free in a society and once the leader dies, who made them free, it will
often turn back to the way it was before that leader, leaving women unequal. Persepolis forced their women into many things they didn't want to.
Muhammad's vision of Islam is depicted different than Persepolis on topics of gender equality.
After the empowerment of the Islamic Regime, the treatment of women turned tables in Iran. Before the Regime, Iranian women were much like the
average American woman during that time. They were able to dress in modern clothes, associate with male counterparts, and have a role in
society. But most of this was drastically changed, especially the dress code. Around 1980, the women of Iran were forced into the wearing of a
veil. A veil is a piece of cloth used to cover the hair and part of the face. Many women were against the veil and took to the streets to protest. After

In the graphic novel, Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi creates a visual representation of what life was like in Iran, being a girl growing up there during the
Islamic Revolution. Transitioning from a child to an adult, Marjane comes to many realizations about her life. She sees how women are marginalized
and looked down upon by people, especially Islamic men. Growing up in a communist household, she has insight on how people were silenced by the
government for not following Islam. Throughout this book, one can see that the marginalization of women is a clear theme. This has a lot to do with
the time and place this book is set in, which is in Tehran Iran, during the Islamic Revolution. Marjane recalls how much this revolution impacted her
life. Before the revolution she was free to be an unmolded child, running around, wearing what she wanted, playing with her friends; but once the
revolution began, things started to change. Women and girls had to start wearing hijabs, bilingual schools were shut down, and boys and girls were
separated. Women were told they were sluts if they weren't wearing their hijab. This happens to Marjane's mother when she was walking down the
street without a hijab on and confronted by two men, who assaulted her and said she "Should be pushed up against a wall and fucked. And then
thrown in the garbage" (74). A similar instance occurred to Marjane when she was walking to the store. A Muslim woman who was assigned to arrest
other women who were improperly veiled, came up to Marjane and told her, "Lower your scarf, you little whore!" (133). Satrapi uses the constant
mention of clothing and hijabs to symbolize how women were treated in general during the revolution in Iran.

Iran is widely diversified in terms of ethnicity; Persian ethnicity is considered to be the highest with 61 percent of the population while only 16

In the distance, chaos builds and guns are shot. By standing up for their rights, people are dying in riots. These riots were about women. All around
the world, women are treated differently. The graphic novel, Persepolis, enlightens readers about the Islamic Revolution and how women were treated
during that time. Because the author was young when she experienced the Islamic Revolution, the novel is in the perspective of her as a little girl. In
the book No God But God, readers are educated about Muhammad's views of women and the religion of Islam. The Islam depicted in Persepolis differs
from Muhammad's original vision of Islam by treating women as inferior to men while Muhammad's vision treats women as equals. In the novel
Persepolis, men objectify women, because they were said to be distracting. To remedy the biased thoughts of the men, women were commanded to

Debating the Takeover After the Death of the Prophet Mohammad
As we know after the death of Prophet Mohammad, the Muslim community turned into disorder and people started to wonder what would happen
now that he is dead as it was understood that he was the last to come in prophets' chain and there will be no one coming after him. Many debates
began about who should take over all the responsibilities he had as he was the spiritual, legal, political and military leader of the community, so in
other words, the debates were whether Muhammad had already appointed a successor, if not, then who should be the leader. In this paper, I will discuss

with different priorities, perceptions and interests, has dramatically reduced the likelihood of a negotiated or military solution. In this context, the
United Nation Security Council is the most suitable and pragmatic space to lead and seek for a multilateral solution, instead of continuing with these
failed unilateral or bilateral military interventions that have taken place in Syria. The UN Security Council should promote a converging and
problem–solving approach between Russia, the United States and other regional powers involved in Syria's crisis, like Saudi Arabia and Iran; and then
try to negotiate with the Government, rebels and paramilitary groups, as well as define an international strategy to defeat Jihadists.

The USA has really reconsidered the threat of this group after the kidnapping and execution of two American journalists and the quick rising tide of
the organization. So how the USA is dealing with the ISIS threat and is its strategy suitable? We may wonder why the Islamic State is difficult to

global identity in the 1980s, 5 years after Hezbollah was founded in 1975, with military operations carried out opposing the Israeli occupation in
Lebanon, and the beginning of Hezbollah 's relationship with Syria and the Islamic republic of Iran ever since. According to some historians and Shia
scholars in Lebanon and the west, the actual occultation of 'Shi 'ism ' in Lebanon was incorporated by 'Abu–Dhar Al Ghaffari ', a companion of Prophet

Persepolis I believe that acceptance and religion are the theme of the story because in the middle eastern countries you don't really have a say in
anything because you don't have much freedom. You can't change anything so you have to start accepting the life style and everything. My first
evidence Is on page four, in one of the panels it says" And then suddenly in 1980... All bilingual schools must be closed down". And " We found

Critical Review Overall, Stephen Kinzer presents a very convincing argument full of accurate and well–articulated points, yet he fails to support his
argument fully and draws loose conjectures as fact, ignoring the rich cultural and historic tradition of the Middle East and Iran.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of the book is Kinzer's ability to present an argument void of clear one–sided bias. Although Kinzer does present
Mossadegh as a sympathetic savior of sorts, describing him as courageous and righteous, Kinzer does not present a pro–US argument that would affect

His reconstruction of the story of the coup that changed Iran is also quite effective. Although it loses some academic merit, Kinzer is able to relay the
day–to–day events simplistically, building an enthralling, quasi–cinematic retelling of the story. He exemplifies his journalistic background by drawing
upon many sources to construct his story. His research supports his narrative well and it creates an interesting read about the first country subjugated
to the American manipulation of their government in order to ascertain American goals. This addition to the conversation about Iran is important, as a
