Definition of Cheating Essay
Merrium–Websters' on–line dictionary defines the word "cheat" simply as 'using trickery to escape observation.' The word cheat dates back to as
early as 1590 and is a transitive verb (a verb that requires both a direct subject and one or more objects). Other definitions of the word cheat include:
to deceive or mislead somebody, especially for personal advantage, to break the rules in a game, examination, or contest, in an attempt to gain an
unfair advantage, and to have a sexual relationship with somebody other than a spouse or regular sexual partner. What does this mean in terms of our
personal lives or needs? What does this mean to me, the writer, personally? To be honest I am not sure. My upbringing and moral codes tells me... Show

I had a Supervisor at work who would not ever give me credit when it was due to me. There had been times when I had made suggestions or
performed my duties in an astounding way only to be cut down or cut off by her. Sometime later I found out she was presenting my suggestions as
her own and taking credit for work I had done. When I presented this situation to her Supervisor she accused me of lying and trying to take her job.
I felt cheated then. I felt cheated because I always thought that someone in a Supervisory role was someone I could look up to and trust. I thought
a Supervisor was someone who was professional, someone who would value my ideas, offer honest criticism, hold me accountable, and
acknowledge the work I did. I felt cheated because I didn't expect that a Supervisor could be the opposite of my professional expectations, she was
instead someone who was intimidated by me. So do I feel guilty when I tell an overweight friend that those jeans look fine on her when they in fact
don't? Yes, I feel a little guilty. But I know deep down that in that moment the truth would hurt her and a discussion about her weight would be better
suited at home over coffee rather than in the public dressing room of a retail store. I think that may just be the mechanism that keeps our desire to
cheat at bay. The ability to have timing and tact, the ability to know right from wrong, the sense of not wanting to cause harm to others and those
around you. I

Is Cheating Unethical
Cheating is unethical because it is wrong in every way, shape, and form. The definition of unethical in dictionary.com is "lacking moral principles,
and unwilling to adhere to proper rules of conduct." When you decide to cheat you have lacked your moral principles. You are no longer a person to
trust. You have decided to not play by fair rules, and therefore have lost your integrity.Cheating is unethical because it's not fair that you take
advantage of another person's intelligence for you to take it as your own. During an exam there should never be cheating, that is why they tell you in
advance about the day of the test so you can study. So, it is inappropriate and illegal to cheat on your exam.
Cheating oversteps on the rights of other people because while another person is doing their best to finish a paper right, another person is cheating.
The right person spent hours studying for an exam, if not days studying. They went to sleep late to learn the material taught in class to be able to do an
exam and get an A. While the wrong person doesn't study. They do all tons of other stuff but, open a book, or their notes. Then they go to do an exam,
and they cheat all over it. That is wrong because while a person spent their time, studying or worked hard to learn the material, then the cheater student
comes without studying and decides to cheat. They both might get an A. But, the studied student deserves the A because that person put the time, and
dedication to earn it. While the other student got an A but they know in the bottom of their heart that they didn't deserve the A. Also, a common type of
cheating is when in an exam a person is doing their test, and a student close to them starts copying them.
Cheating also oversteps on the rights of others by simply not being loyal, or not playing by the rules. In a business, there might be 2 business partners.
The one that sees the triumph of the business, and the one who sees the interest of his own pocket. It is somewhat common that businesses with
partners usually end because one decides to step over the other one. And destroys the friendship of the two, along with the business. When you cheat
on a game it's a shame on you because you didn't play fairly. If you won

Why Cheating Is Wrong
Cheating is always wrong. This is a lesson we all need to learn at a young age. No matter what the issue; cheating is never the solution. Sadly, it
seems that cheating has become something looked at as a means to end or a way to advance quicker further. But no one can ever be truely satisfied
with their accomplishments if they are gained by cheating.
It is my opinion that from a very young age we all subconsciously know that cheating is wrong. As we grow and develop our subconscious can be
influenced by many things, such as our environment and our peers, this can cause us to sway our beliefs and something that we once knew to be
wrong can quickly become something we routinely practice to get ahead.
In today's world it seems that cheating

Cheating Is Getting Worse In American School
Cheating Is Getting Worse in American School
Seventy–one percent of students in high school admit to cheating on an assignment in the past 12 months. The pressure for good grades is high on
students; therefore, many are cheating to get those grades. More and more American students are cheating to get their good grades.
Good grades are necessary to get into college and to stay there, but many students do not want to do the work it takes to make good grades. So they
cheat and do not take seriously the fact that cheating is immoral. Whether or not students cheat, if they can get a jury to say that they are not guilty,
they are free. Many students feel no guilt if they are not punished. Their once, was a student at a large university in the south who said," A lot of people
think they are not really there to learn anything. They're just learning to beat the system." That seems to be the idea of many students and even some ...

According to author Michael Josephson, "the reasons are relatively simple: cheating has become easier and more widely tolerated, and both schools
and parents have failed to give their student's advice to cheat on tests." Studies of student behavior and attitudes show that a majority of students
violates standards of academic integrity to some degree. Large–scale cheating has been uncovered over the last year at some of the nation's most
competitive schools. Students strong, repetitive messages about what is allowed are what are prohibited..." There have always been struggling students
who cheat to survive, "says Donald McCabe. That's why people should not always cheat on their test. Right now, as teachers and administrators around
the nation refuse to face the facts that online cheating is a truly serious problem, we are not about to have on–campus proctoring. But we can at least

Reflection About Relationships
In the two years we have been together, my boyfriend, Andy, and I never talked about what we considered cheating to be. This past July, I found out
that he had spent the night in his car with one of my closests friends, and his ex–girlfriend. I had told him in the past that I was not comfortable with
him being out with a girl late at night, but never fully elaborated on it. Realizing that he had done something I wasn't comfortable with, he told me he
was up late playing Halo, and kept his outing from me for almost a month. Since we had never laid our boundaries, there were no boundaries to break.
Personally, I view cheating as doing something you would not tell your significant other about, but he sees it as having intimate relations with someone
other than your significant other. He saw it as him doing something wrong and apologized for it, but felt that it was nowhere near cheating. Our
disagreement stems from the differences between our beliefs and expectations for each other.
In our relationship, my boyfriend had never done anything for me to lack a sense of trust. He let me know where he was, even when I did not want
to know, and always tried his best to keep in contact with me. When it came to me spending time with the opposite sex, he was always comfortable
with the idea which is why he thought I felt the same. He had complete trust in me and never minded the time or the place. Growing up, his father had
an intimate relationship with another woman, so to him, that was

explains how cheating in school can affect students later on in life. Many students cheat whether their in elementary, high school, or college, cheating
is everywhere and everyone does it. Cheating is wrong in numerous ways and can result to bad habits in the future. Cheating has always been around
and not just cheating in school, cheating in daily life events. In the article, "Cheating in School Reflects Basic Confusion in Society" by Mari Pearlman

Online CoursesAcademic integrity has long been a core concern of faculty as well as administrators operating in campuses. Recent statistics done on
the extent of cheating that occurs in college campuses shows that the large majority of students have engaged in this vice to some extent. The core
difference in today's environment is the wide proliferation of technological devices that are used for both delivering as well as accessing information on
university courses. Educators are fast becoming concerned on the impact that technology has on the numerous forms of academic dishonesty. Indeed a
number of sources have argued that the internet is fast becoming a major culprit for the increasing instances of academic dishonesty. This paper
therefore strives to examine what is the prevalence of cheating in online courses looking at it from the college student's perspective. The number of
students who a–re actively participating in college level online courses has far outpaced other forms of distance learning. Online courses are becoming
a critical part of many campuses long term strategy as evidenced by the fact that colleges have seen a distinct increase in the levels of online enrolment.

Essay on Is Cheating Always Unethical?
First of all, is it ethical to cheat? That question can not be answered with a simple yes or no, there are more things that come into play such as,
what are they cheating on, is it simply cut and pasted or did they make it there own. Cheating is not as big of a deal as people make it out to be, it is
just a means to an end. Nothing anyone ever will do, no rules any university would make will change this fact. People will cheat and a majority of
them will get away with it never thinking twice about it. Cheating does not harm anyone, including the person cheating, as much as it is made out to be,

If a person cheats and cheats well they would probably get a better understanding of the material then they would if they were to write the paper all
by themselves. Cheating also teaches people how to work with others, how to ease a heavy work load so a better job can get done. Learning how
to cheat is a great thing to learn and the notion that colleges and high schools have that it is bad is understandable but a misreading of human
nature. Yes, cheating and plagiarism can be a terrible thing if the student does not know the topic and is just cheating to get the paper written not
even understanding the meaning of the particular thing he or she stole. Cheating is just a negative connotation for using ones resources. " Cheating
is an answer, it might not be the best answer, but none the less it is an answer( 198)." Cheating needs to stop being seen as such a horrible thing
and people need to start seeing it how it truly is, a skillful way of expressing to point one wishes to display but cannot find the words for. 80% of
students admit to cheating the number is probably higher somewhere in the high 90's or maybe even 100%. People will always find ways to make it
easier to do something, to make and easier work load. High school is a high pressure atmosphere were your G.P.A can mean whether or not you can

Observation Of The Eating Observation Assignment
Throughout this course, I have studied and participated in various methods of research. There were some methods I loved, some that I thought were
useful, but they had their limitations, and a few that I did not particularly enjoy. Let's start one of the methods that I enjoyed the most, direct
observation. I used direct observation for the eating observation assignment. I first thought that I would be very uncomfortable using this method, but
once I was practicing it I did not feel uncomfortable. I think this method is very useful since people act like themselves when they believe no one is
watching. This allows researches to collect accurate data without the worry that the data could be skewed. Since my participant did not know that he
was being observed, he felt comfortable is his surroundings to act like himself. I do like this research method and I would use it again, however there is
a down side to the method. Since you cannot talk to you're participants you then have to make your own conclusions, which may not always be
accurate. This problem also comes up with systematic observation. Systematic observation was a method that I did not particularly enjoy. I found that
there were too many flaws with the method, like the one previously stated. Another flaw with systematic observation is that the researcher is taking
their own preconceived notions into their research. With systematic observation, one is looking for something that they believe people to do. The
problem with

Today the world is much more connected by technology than ever before. Access to limitless information is all but a search away. Information
ranging from how to cook a meal to the text of the declaration of independence with detailed annotations. Today the possibilities are limitless. Not
only is it available in the household on the "old fashioned" home PC, but now due to smart phones access to information is anywhere and anytime. Is
that ease of access affecting the learning process of today's youth? Could students not be learning the material and simply just be doing a web search

That's nearly every student that admits to cheating however, there will always be a couple student who won't say they have. What exactly is cheating,
is it when a student looks at their neighbor's answers, or writes a paper similar to something online? In reality it's both and more, it's whenever
somebody copies someone else's work, or tries to pass off somebody else's work as their own. Could the cheating be unintentional? As Laura Tillman
says many students have different definitions of cheating and may not even realize that they are doing it. All of this access to technology has made
students doubt what they consider cheating. It can't be cheating if it's available to everyone right? At that point it is just taking advantage of the new
technology present. It should be there to help when needed, and not to answer every question. Advances In technology have spread the knowledge to
those that normally wouldn't be able to have it; however, that does not mean it should be used to pass the class. Students cheat because their whole
lives are defined by the education they receive, and when the stakes are so high what else is there to do. Is that education in danger? Is it possible that
the scholastic system is to blame rather than the students? It seems as if schools are more focused on how well their students do on standardized tests
as opposed to how well their pupils learn (Duncan).

Why Students Are Cheating In High School
A recent study shows that more students are cheating. They cheat not to survive, but to thrive. Teenagers cheat in school, so they can get good grades
and not disappoint their parents. Students are cheating because they do not want to work hard enough to get the grade they want. Although, kids might
have the temptation to cheat, they cannot learn when they cheat and they grow up to be adults in a shared society. Students and teachers takecheating
more seriously. Kids do not learn anything because they do not want to take the time to actually learn. Kids are just lazy to learn anything. Overall 617
million kids had admitted to cheating, which includes more than 387 million children of primary school and 230 million adolescents of lower secondary
school age. More than one–half of all children will not achieve the proficiency levels. Kids are cheating in different areas or levels in school. Kids only
go to school to learn. Kids actually need to get an education, so they can see the difference between being lazy and actually learning something. Kids do
not want to learn anything because they automatically think cheating is ok. Kids wanna cheat because they actually want to get good grades without
working hard. Teachers actually want them to learn something, so if teachers spring a surprise test up on them over stuff they never learned because
they had cheated on the homework. Teenagers need to know the consequences for cheating because they might want to get somewhere in

Cheating Is Wrong Essay
If you have to sneak, lie, or hide it, then nine times out of ten you shouldn't be doing it. In today's day and age people look at cheating as a way to
get ahead, when in the long run you're just disabling yourself. Overall cheating is never admirable because it's a way of lying and stealing, it's unfair to
others who do the right thing, and it hinders any future progress. When you cheat you're not only cheating on yourself, but on your future. To begin with
it, cheating is always going to be unacceptable since it's a form of lying and stealing. When turning something into the teacher you are non–verbally
stating that the work is yours. If you're cheating on the assignment, then it can be scrutinized as a form of lying. And if the work Is not yours that mean
you obtained the answers from someone else pronouncing them as your own, which can also be established as stealing. The last time I checked, things
like cheating and stealing were measured misguided and morally unsound. In some utmost cases, stealing and lying can get you into jail. So cheating is
just a minor thing that can produce something slight more than you can handle. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cheating can be frustrating to those who are playing by the rules. Those who work hard for what they get shouldn't contend with those who don't.
If you were playing a game with someone who wanted to win that they cheated, the entire game would feel unfair and irrational. For example, how
would you feel if you prepared for a test all week and only got an "F". While the person next to you cheated his way and got an "A". Everything you

Essay Ethics of Cheating
Cheaters Never Win, Oh wait they doВ…В…В…they're Cheaters
Cheating is defined in the dictionary as, to deceive by trickery; swindle, however the dictionary fails to tell you if it is right or wrong to cheat. People
have many different beliefs when it comes to cheating; some think its fine to do while others completely disapprove. I intend to show the different
beliefs, from different perspectives of people, and also intend on proving which beliefs have the strongest and weakest arguments.
An ethical egoist could argue that we have an obligation to cheat. Ethical egoists maintain the belief that we should act selfishly. We should do things
that we believe in our self–interest, which is our own genuine interest. Egoist would cheat to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Deontology on the other hand would argue that you should not cheat. Deontology assumes that we all have clear sets of duties that we ought to obey,
these are given to us from God or our own reason. Therefore cheating is obviously wrong, so you ought not to cheat. Deontology believes that you
have a set of duties that you follow. In deontological ethics, an action is considered morally good because of some characteristic of the action itself, not
because the result of the action is good.
Of the three approaches to ethics that are mentioned above I think that the egoists support of cheating makes the best argument. Although, I personally
do not believe in cheating I do think that egoist do justify the act of cheating. Egoists feel that we should put our selves before all others and that we
should do what makes us happy. They feel that whatever will benefit us most will in turn make us happier.
I think the comparison of the strongest argument brings out the weaknesses in the other two arguments. I feel that utilitarianism does not have as
strong of an argument for cheating, because they do not look at the entire situation and also they are interested in the happiness of themselves, cheating
is not necessarily always going to make you happy. I believe that deontology has the weakest argument, they live by what you

Students vs. The System Essay
Students vs. the System
Education has always been a great factor in determining human survival and success. Whether it is learning to live in a harsh environment or learning
to manage a company, education is and always will be incredibly significant. Education is so important in modern society that a system of grades has
been developed to evaluate students of all ages and levels. In Paul Goodman's essay "A Proposal to AbolishGrading" he argues that the grading system
that is commonly used in our society is ineffective and should be done away with. This idea is wrong since there are many positive outcomes that
result from the current grading system.
Goodman opens up his piece by making his claim that grades have take precedence over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"But if the aim is to discover weakness, what is the point of down–grading and punishing it, and thereby inviting the student to conceal his weakness,
by faking and bulling, if not cheating?" (Goodman 208). Why is testing for weakness a bad thing? If a test is returned to a student and it is heavy with
errors, it is the student's responsibility to correct the mistakes for the next test. Once a student has realized this, in Goodman's eyes, they have become
self–aware. "If the student dares to accept himself as he is, a teacher's grade is a crude instrument compared with a student's self–awareness" (Goodman
208). Throughout the essay, there is a feeling that the author relays that all students are looking to only get by in school, but in real life, that is
certainly not the case. As a matter of fact, very many students in high schools are very determined to achieve their goals, so they work hard and
learn to attain them, rather than taking an easy route to a good grade. Getting high letter grades is a powerful motivation for students who know
what they want. For those with competitive spirits, high grades can be used to measure one's own ranking to the rest of the class. For other students,
it could be a reward saying "excellent work" as opposed "you passed." As stated earlier, there are many students who are actually hard workers.
However, there may not really be a flaw in the system of grades that schools have implemented. It

Cheating Is A Common Thing For People

This report is about cheating especially in examination. As we know cheating is a common thing for people currently. Every person had done
cheating in their life even once. Cheating has been part of our daily life. Although the all knew that cheating is wrong in every way they still do it for
maintain or increasing their grade in every examination. From our observation, every person that never do cheating will begin to cheat after they did it
even once, and most of them because of they were seeing their friends involved in cheating. It is shameful that because of they are in the circles of

that many high school students carry this for the rest of their life and it never going to change. Students that make it to college they are going to end up
being big failures because they are cheating, so cheating leads to failing the class. The solution for students would be they rather get out of school and

my opinion, I think professors should make the student re–take the test even though they cannot really do that or there could be a better

confused as to what was expected from them. They needed to pass the class and there did not seem to be any other way but to cheat. This kind of
cheating is triggered due to the environment the student is in. Contradictory signals and inconsistent grading can definitely push a student to cheat.
This cheating doesn't stem from personal ethical issues or gender, it comes purely from the confusion of the tests and expectations. The students
couldn't even see their actions as wrong or cheating, since everyone, even teaching assistants, who were giving out the definitions of words during a
test, were supporting the "cheating" behavior. For example, '"I was just someone who shared notes, and now I'm implicated in this," said a senior

The Negative Effects Of Cheating In High Schools
1. Introduction
Cheating in schools is getting worse and worse as the days fly by and here's why. Studies have shown that more students are cheating to get a good
grade and thrive. The problem is that students shouldn't have to use cheating as a option for success in their grades, it shouldn't even be an option in
the first place. Cheating has skyrocketed over the years as education has become more complex. Students are choosing cheating as a way to take the
easy way out because they don't understand the work that is given to them. Plus, cheating is becoming much more easy to do due to the updates on
technology (smartphones). The outcome of this is that cheating is getting worse because there is so many outlets for students to use to cheat and get
away with it, there needs to be more rules enforced about cheating and more awareness on it so that cheating can lower down and not be a problem
in schools and or at least become less of a problem than it already is.
2. Background
For years, cheating has been a main problem in schools and has only gotten worse over the years and not better at all. Cheating has been used for
many years and not only in the academic world. At one point in your life I'm sure you've cheated someway somehow. Cheating in schools usually starts
around elementary school. In an academic cheating fact sheet by glass–castle.com, they state "Cheating may begin in elementary school when children

Cheating Is Wrong Essay
Cheating is known as a way of life for some individuals in this day and age. There are various types of cheating, for instance, in academics,
relationships, or in the work place. Deceiving is too often accepted nowadays and it is not seen as an insult or a sin. Is cheating approved, as there is
less religion and morals in the world? Consequently, few people have never cheated in their lives in any aspect of growth. Cheating has become extra
common in relationships and academic institutions as a result of high scholastic standards, laziness, and absent virtues. Cheating is always wrong,
however, everyone still performs it. It has become a vast deal too apparent today. Remarkably, abounding activities pass as cheating present–day.
Whether it is in school, work, sports, relationships, or just life in general, cheating is frequent and familiar. 75% of high school students have admitted
to cheating (Educational Testing Service (ETS), 1999). On another note, 70% of men and 50–60% of women conceded to cheating on their spouse
(FOX News Network, 2016). An exceeding sector of the world's population agrees that cheating is not always wrong, and can be beneficial. Cheating
may result in getting a good grade or getting ahead, however, ultimately, nothing was learned, and comparable to lying, in the end, it is not worth
accomplishing. Umpteen students are unaware of what classifies as cheating, and even if they are aware, they are still tempted to cheat. Different types

Is Cheating Ethical
Introduction:Many people tend to equate ethics with their feelings. But being ethical is clearly not a matter of followings one's feelings. Ethics,
however, cannot be confined to religion nor is it the same as religion. Being ethical is not the same as following the law. The law often incorporates
ethical standards to which most citizens subscribe. But laws, like feelings, can deviate from what is ethical. Finally, being ethical is not the same as
doing "whatever society accepts." In any society, most people accept standards that are ethical. But standards of behaviour in society can deviate from
what is ethical. An entire society can become ethically corrupt. Nazi Germany is good example of a morally corrupt society. What then, is... Show more

No matter what consequences a person is going to bear if he/she does not cheat or whatever are the consequences like teacher was not good, the
person was having a problem just before the exam, he/she may fail the course or may be fired from the job. According to principle of universalism
moral duty of a person could be revealed through reasons, objectively. Kant said that to act morally is one's moral duty and one's moral duty is to
follow innate law. Under Universal law he said that all moral statement should be general law for everyone under every circumstance and there
should be no occasion under which exception are made. If anyone allow a person to cheat due to any reason and tries to prove that it is ethical than
that should be applicable to every member in the room because every person is having some problem with in their personal life and this will also
create a sense of discrimination among other members. Kant said that you should never treat people as a means of some ends. People should always
be treated as ends in themselves; it promotes equality among human beings. So at last we can say that according to principle of categoricalism doing
wrong thing or action is always wrong no matter what ever will be the end or doing wrong thing would benefit how many people. Cheating in class or
exam is wrong and one person should not do that (rsrevision/kantandthecatimp.htm). Is it ethical thing

Mills utilitarian ethics would justify that you should not cheat on a test. Mills theory is based on social rules that decide what is "right" or
"wrong." Meaning that society decides what is wrong and right, by capital punishment, public approval or disapproval. Based off of this we can
see how Mills theory supports not cheating on at test because if you were to get caught cheating there would be a lot of public disapproval and you
could even receive a very harsh punishment for example; you could get a zero on that test, you could even get kicked out of that class, or even worse it
would be possible to get kicked out of the school, if you were taking a test like the BAR for lawyers you could lose your shot at ever becoming a

Dishonor Roll: A New Study Says Student Cheating
Cheating was less common back then than it is now, because today there is not enough discipline or stress on how it is morally wrong. Cheating is to
act dishonestly or unfairly to gain a certain advantage. It has been around for centuries and over the years, it has only gotten more common, because of
advancements in technology such as the internet. It can be seen almost anywhere, therefore it is a bigger problem than most people think. It has
evolved into an ethical problem.
Academic cheating is the most common form of cheating. Students are so desperate to receive a satisfying grade in a class that they will do anything
to get it, but what they do not know is that it really does not benefit them. In"Dishonor Roll: A New Study Says Students... Show more content on

Like students, athletes are so desperate for that win that they will cheat in order to receive the prize and the praise that comes with it. In "A
marathon of cheats" it says, "Thomas Hicks won the 1904 marathon in St Louis after taking two doses of brandy laced with strychnine. Hicks
collapsed on the finishing line and had to be revived. There being no rule at the time against drugs, he was allowed to keep his gold medal." Now
if a person is found cheating they would be stripped of their medal and disqualified. A man who finished the line before Hicks was disqualified
because he had admitted to cheating. So why wasn't Hicks disqualified? Thomas Hicks was rewarded for cheating and for putting his life in danger.
He had risked his life to win the race for a gold medal. Even though the other man who reached the finish line first had cheated, he admitted to it, set
his morals straight and accepted the consequences that came with his actions. Stephen Mumford tells both sides of an athlete who enhances his
abilities by taking drugs in his article "The Use of Performance–Enhancing Drugs Is Cheating", he says "Armstrong was a cheat; and we feel cheated,"
(Mumford). Athletes are not the only ones affected by their cheating. Fans are affected as well, they admire these athletes and finding out they
cheated their way to the win makes them feel awful. They feel that they were cheering for someone who did not deserve to win. And if the use of
drugs leads the athlete to have some serious health problems the fans will only be more devastated. Athletes that enhance their abilities by using
drugs set a lousy example for children. They send the message that cheating is okay and that it is winning, when in reality cheating is not really
winning because it is not the what the athlete is capable of it is what the drug is capable of. If the cheating athlete is on a team it could give the team

Persuasive Essay On Cheating On Homework
In Survey I, 91.9% of the participants reported that they have cheated on at least one homework assignment; however, when asked why they receive
answers, 13.5% of the participants stated that they do not receive answers (Appendix D). Therefore, it can be concluded that some students believe that
cheating on homework assignments is not considered as immoral. This may further explain why students cheat.
Furthermore, 91.9% of students reported cheating at least once, albeit 51.4% of students stating that it's bothersome when others cheat (Appendix D).
This is due to self–serving bias, which is when people blame other individuals when their action negatively affects them, while they blame the
situation when their act negatively affects others (Boyes, 2013). For example, if someone gets into a car accident, one automatically assumes that
person is a bad driver, while if one gets into a car accident himself, one will find excuses and say it was not their own fault. Similarly, when a student
cheats in high school, they find reasons to justify that action, even when they know it is wrong, which is the case with 62.2% of students in this survey
(Appendix D). However, when another student cheats in the same class, it is bothersome to some students because they see it as unfair and
disrespectful on the student's part.
Moreover, 24.3% of students reported that they cheat because they want to help their friends out (Appendix D). Therefore, when they see others, who

Honor System In Schools
"Snitches get stitches" is a popular saying among the youth today. Although fighting someone who reports you for doing something wrong isn't the
right way to handle things, when someone tells on you it's exactly what you want to do. In schools, the honor code system is a system where students
report cheating. Schools should eliminate the honor system, as it should be up to teachers to watch out for cheating. If someone is cheating off of your
test, that's one thing. But always being on the lookout is another. Part of the honor system is always having to report if someone is cheating. In an exert

In fact, sometimes it can even backfire. In "Honor Codes Work Where Honesty Has Already Taken Root," Jennifer Dirmeyer and Alexander
Cartwright discuss how everyone will be honest or everyone will cheat. If everyone lives in fear of cheating, that's great. Everyone watches out for
cheating, and so no one cheats. However, everyone could cheat and just form a pact to not say anything. If everyone in a class agreed to do this, it
wouldn't be all that hard to do. The fact that the honor system could create such an environment of such dishonesty is awful, but it would be the honor
code system itself that would drive students to that point. After all, if the honor system is about being honorable and being good, why not just be
honorable to the rest of your class and just not say anything about everyone cheating. The honor system can drive students to cheat more, so it shouldn't
be in place. Additionally, if you dislike another student, you could lie and say that they were cheating. No one would be able to say that you were
lying about turning in the student for cheating, for there might not be a teacher or supervisor in the room to say differently. This could also lead to a
student turning in another student for cheating off their work, and the person accused turning around and accusing the first student. This would just
cause more problems than solutions. No one would be able to prove anything, and the innocent person could be unfairly punished and the person that
cheated could get off the hook. The honor code causes more trouble than good, so it should not be in

Common Grounds Of Cheating
As technology continues to grow and advance, so does the presence and access to various methods of cheating. In simple terms, cheating is stealing
information or work in order to be used for personal gain or to have an advantage against the competition. More and more students are resorting to
cheating as the academic competition for college and jobs increases. Although it seems to be common knowledge to students that what they are doing
is wrong and severely punishable, most students believe the benefit of cheating trumps the risk, and that they will never get caught or punished anyway.
As the amount of academic dishonesty continues to grow amongst students ranging from elementary school to graduate students, it is becoming
increasingly apparent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Group projects are common grounds for cheating between students to occur. Although it is common for students to pass a paper around or share
answers on a test, most students and teachers alike overlook the cheating present in group projects because they do not always realize it is happening.
This is because many people are not aware of the difference between collaboration and collusion. When a group is collaborating, they are working
together to come up with material for an assignment. Collusion is a step further than that, it is when the assignment shifts from synergy to stealing
information. Collusion can occur in multiple different ways, students might work on different sections of the assignment and share their answers with
the group in order to decrease workload; one or more group members might not have any input in the project and instead take credit for the work of
the rest of the group, and so on. At the time it is hard to understand that that is cheating because the student feels like as long as they discussed the
project with the group, or even had a small part in the work, that what they were doing was simply collaborating.

Cheating In Schools And Colleges: What To Do About It
Cheating is like an addiction. Once you start, you can't stop. All over the world, students have resorted to cheating, which has turned into a major habit
that needs to be taken more seriously. Today, most schools are making the cheating policy much more stricter, as this would reinforce the idea to
students that cheating is wrong. Cheating has become a worldwide issue that needs to be addressed throughout schools. Cheating policies should be
more strict, as it pertains to students doing academically well or not. Cheating is not beneficial in any way because although it can get a test grade an
A in a certain class, it will not help in future classes or even getting a job in the near future. Teachers and parents also contribute to students cheating and

But, parents also bear the responsibility of the cheating epidemic. In the article "Cheating in Schools and Colleges: What to do About It" by Thomas
Ehrlich and Ernestine Fu, it states that parents should not talk about grades at home, as it could stress their child too much. Parents should just ask
what their child did in school and leave it at that. When parents ask about grades, it makes the students think that in order to please their parents, they
need to always be getting this "A". Students are already stressed out at school, trying to get the perfect grade. At school stays at school, and parents
shouldn't talk about grades at home, if it is stressing their child. This is significant because it shows that parents could also play a huge role in student's
cheating. If they continue to pressure their child into needing this "perfect" grade for college, students would stress out and feel the need to resort to

Why Cheating Is Wrong
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9). Cheating is a personal
decision. Some will never cheat matter how bad it is; others will cheat no matter how good it is. Truth is there's no justification for cheating on your
spouse. No matter how you spin it, it's sinful. No matter what the situation is, cheating is wrong in every aspect of life, whether it's cheating on your
spouse, school related, or sports related. Most likely if someone cheats, they are also a liar. Cheating is never okay if you're unhappy, leave the
person, and don't cheat on them. When you do cheat you're showing other's that you do not believe in yourself, it makes you look worse as a ... Show

If you haven't experienced it yet, there's a good chance you eventually will. The three most common reasons why men end relationships are
irreconcilable mistakes, limited perspectives and alternative directions. Cheating is a great example of an irreconcilable mistake. Cheating in a
relationship is absolutely wrong. It is a form of lying in this case because when you choose to be married to someone, you take vows that say you
will be faithful to them. In other words you can't only think about yourself you have to think about your spouse also, because you have made a
commitment with someone that you loved. The number one thing in a relationship is trust and cheating destroys the trust that someone has for you.
This always destroys someone's feelings about being in a relationship and shows how much one values a relationship. As I have said before, many
would believe that it is okay to sometimes cheat but I feel that if you do it once you will do it again. Often times, when a couple cheats, it is because
they are mad at each other and having problems. Others cheat because their spouse may have cheated on them before. Even in this case, cheating is not
justified. Cheating only causes you and your spouse more pain, and will possibly end a relationship

1.Summarize and give an example for either the Cosmological or Teleological Proof for God's existence.
Teleological is the main argument for God's existence. There is order and purpose for everything and these things work well together because ALL
things were designed by God's perfect order. The argument that we were all made in His image meaning we are made by design and God is our
designer. As a gun is to a gunsmith; so is a human to God is a teleological example. He is our creator (designer) just as the gunsmith makes firearms.
2. Briefly summarize Feuerbach's theory of the origin of religion.
Feuerbach believed that man was not made in God's image; rather we made a god or deities in our image. We created religion to benefit our own
needs and projected our beliefs onto humanity. Despite human beings having multiple fears, our biggest fear is death and Christianity was a way of
promising eternal life after death. Therefore, Feuerbach believed the reason for this projected image was to push human self–consciousness. He felt
that divinity shouldn't be allied with God, but with humanity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Argumentative Essay On Cheating
Cheating. 10 years ago it was much harder, maybe even impossible. Today, in a world of cellphones and technology, it is much easier to cheat. The
temptation of a perfect grade outweighs the possible consequences. It still doesn't make it right. Now I'll be the first to admit that a bad grade scares
me, so cheating does sound pretty good. Then I think of the looks my parents, teachers, and siblings would give me. I would feel so disappointed in
myself and my actions. Cheating is never the answer. It will get you nowhere in life. Even if you get away with it once, there will be a time when
you won't be able to cheat or you can't get away with it. There are many different things you can cheat on. Some may argue that cheating on a five
point homework assignment is not near as bad as cheating on a one–hundred point test. However, all cheating is bad. So, no I don't think it is okay to
cheat on homework. Even if it is just worth a couple of points and you may think that it won't matter, I still don't believe that it is okay. Doing those
five point, "useless" assignments teaches you test taking skills and other important skills that you will need later on in life. It is also never okay to
cheat on a quiz. Again it's the same idea. It teaches you valuable skills of being honest. The same thing goes for tests, too. If you think that it is morally
okay to cheat on a test, then I truly feel sorry for you. And not only tests, anything. I personally feel that I would be going against

How Successful Is Cheating Academic Integrity?

Academic integrity is the truest way of being successful, especially in our own future investment. But instead of our honesty, work and effort we put

the same way about the topic of cheating how Rebekah Nathan do. In Mathieu Bouville journal article "Why Cheating is Wrong?" he discuss the
reasons why cheating is wrong also how it affects students in the long run. Cheating will become a more often thing and schools will continue to report
high numbers of academic dishonesty. Keeping it part of the culture. Which is acceptable to Nathan, but she failed to layout the consequences of

The Beauty of Fantasizing
Have you ever considered how many people you have fantasized over during your life time? Every single human being has had a fantasy, regardless
if they are in a relationship or not. In fact, we do it so much we do not realize the important day to day events. One main question is whether it is
ethical to fantasize about someone other than your partner while in a committed relationship? The term fantasize has different meanings to different
individuals. My definition of fantasizing is to envision doing inappropriate things to someone else. I believe that it is not ethical to fantasize about
someone else while in a relationship. It always depends on the person and the type of relationship, as well as the reason behind the fantasy. Thus, it is
important that we control our desires to create a healthy relationship. Fantasies create the feeling of pleasure which can easily be addicting. Taken to
the extreme, this can have a negative effect on the relationship and mental health. More specifically, an individual can alienate themself from the real
world and forget the real reason they are with their partner in the first place. Some individuals might think fantasizing is accepted while in a
relationship due to its harmless nature. However, this "harmless" practice can easily become an addiction and lead to dishonest behavior among
partners [2].In terms of Kohlberg's theory, stage 5 demonstrates how all individuals in a good relationship must work together for the benefit of all

Cheaters Never Win, Oh wait they do.........they're Cheaters

have many different beliefs when it comes to cheating; some think its fine to do while others completely disapprove. I intend to show the different
beliefs, from different perspectives of people, and also intend on proving which beliefs have the strongest and weakest arguments.

A cheater would not be regarded as a good person but rather, a bad person and a liar.
A utilitarian would probably agree with cheating. Utilitarianism believes that morals are based on the happiness or misery of people. If a person
cheated and got an A on the test, they would obviously be happy. Utilitarians also have the tendency to look at the short–term affects of a situation. For
example, cheating would result in an A, however the broad perspective is that nothing would be learned, or if they were to get caught cheating they
would fail, therefore in actuality they are not benefiting at all.
They feel that whatever

Definition Of Cheating Essay

  • 1. Definition of Cheating Essay Merrium–Websters' on–line dictionary defines the word "cheat" simply as 'using trickery to escape observation.' The word cheat dates back to as early as 1590 and is a transitive verb (a verb that requires both a direct subject and one or more objects). Other definitions of the word cheat include: to deceive or mislead somebody, especially for personal advantage, to break the rules in a game, examination, or contest, in an attempt to gain an unfair advantage, and to have a sexual relationship with somebody other than a spouse or regular sexual partner. What does this mean in terms of our personal lives or needs? What does this mean to me, the writer, personally? To be honest I am not sure. My upbringing and moral codes tells me... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I had a Supervisor at work who would not ever give me credit when it was due to me. There had been times when I had made suggestions or performed my duties in an astounding way only to be cut down or cut off by her. Sometime later I found out she was presenting my suggestions as her own and taking credit for work I had done. When I presented this situation to her Supervisor she accused me of lying and trying to take her job. I felt cheated then. I felt cheated because I always thought that someone in a Supervisory role was someone I could look up to and trust. I thought a Supervisor was someone who was professional, someone who would value my ideas, offer honest criticism, hold me accountable, and acknowledge the work I did. I felt cheated because I didn't expect that a Supervisor could be the opposite of my professional expectations, she was instead someone who was intimidated by me. So do I feel guilty when I tell an overweight friend that those jeans look fine on her when they in fact don't? Yes, I feel a little guilty. But I know deep down that in that moment the truth would hurt her and a discussion about her weight would be better suited at home over coffee rather than in the public dressing room of a retail store. I think that may just be the mechanism that keeps our desire to cheat at bay. The ability to have timing and tact, the ability to know right from wrong, the sense of not wanting to cause harm to others and those around you. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Is Cheating Unethical Cheating is unethical because it is wrong in every way, shape, and form. The definition of unethical in dictionary.com is "lacking moral principles, and unwilling to adhere to proper rules of conduct." When you decide to cheat you have lacked your moral principles. You are no longer a person to trust. You have decided to not play by fair rules, and therefore have lost your integrity.Cheating is unethical because it's not fair that you take advantage of another person's intelligence for you to take it as your own. During an exam there should never be cheating, that is why they tell you in advance about the day of the test so you can study. So, it is inappropriate and illegal to cheat on your exam. Cheating oversteps on the rights of other people because while another person is doing their best to finish a paper right, another person is cheating. The right person spent hours studying for an exam, if not days studying. They went to sleep late to learn the material taught in class to be able to do an exam and get an A. While the wrong person doesn't study. They do all tons of other stuff but, open a book, or their notes. Then they go to do an exam, and they cheat all over it. That is wrong because while a person spent their time, studying or worked hard to learn the material, then the cheater student comes without studying and decides to cheat. They both might get an A. But, the studied student deserves the A because that person put the time, and dedication to earn it. While the other student got an A but they know in the bottom of their heart that they didn't deserve the A. Also, a common type of cheating is when in an exam a person is doing their test, and a student close to them starts copying them. Cheating also oversteps on the rights of others by simply not being loyal, or not playing by the rules. In a business, there might be 2 business partners. The one that sees the triumph of the business, and the one who sees the interest of his own pocket. It is somewhat common that businesses with partners usually end because one decides to step over the other one. And destroys the friendship of the two, along with the business. When you cheat on a game it's a shame on you because you didn't play fairly. If you won ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Why Cheating Is Wrong Cheating is always wrong. This is a lesson we all need to learn at a young age. No matter what the issue; cheating is never the solution. Sadly, it seems that cheating has become something looked at as a means to end or a way to advance quicker further. But no one can ever be truely satisfied with their accomplishments if they are gained by cheating. It is my opinion that from a very young age we all subconsciously know that cheating is wrong. As we grow and develop our subconscious can be influenced by many things, such as our environment and our peers, this can cause us to sway our beliefs and something that we once knew to be wrong can quickly become something we routinely practice to get ahead. In today's world it seems that cheating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Cheating Is Getting Worse In American School Cheating Is Getting Worse in American School Seventy–one percent of students in high school admit to cheating on an assignment in the past 12 months. The pressure for good grades is high on students; therefore, many are cheating to get those grades. More and more American students are cheating to get their good grades. Good grades are necessary to get into college and to stay there, but many students do not want to do the work it takes to make good grades. So they cheat and do not take seriously the fact that cheating is immoral. Whether or not students cheat, if they can get a jury to say that they are not guilty, they are free. Many students feel no guilt if they are not punished. Their once, was a student at a large university in the south who said," A lot of people think they are not really there to learn anything. They're just learning to beat the system." That seems to be the idea of many students and even some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to author Michael Josephson, "the reasons are relatively simple: cheating has become easier and more widely tolerated, and both schools and parents have failed to give their student's advice to cheat on tests." Studies of student behavior and attitudes show that a majority of students violates standards of academic integrity to some degree. Large–scale cheating has been uncovered over the last year at some of the nation's most competitive schools. Students strong, repetitive messages about what is allowed are what are prohibited..." There have always been struggling students who cheat to survive, "says Donald McCabe. That's why people should not always cheat on their test. Right now, as teachers and administrators around the nation refuse to face the facts that online cheating is a truly serious problem, we are not about to have on–campus proctoring. • 5. Reflection About Relationships In the two years we have been together, my boyfriend, Andy, and I never talked about what we considered cheating to be. This past July, I found out that he had spent the night in his car with one of my closests friends, and his ex–girlfriend. I had told him in the past that I was not comfortable with him being out with a girl late at night, but never fully elaborated on it. Realizing that he had done something I wasn't comfortable with, he told me he was up late playing Halo, and kept his outing from me for almost a month. Since we had never laid our boundaries, there were no boundaries to break. Personally, I view cheating as doing something you would not tell your significant other about, but he sees it as having intimate relations with someone other than your significant other. He saw it as him doing something wrong and apologized for it, but felt that it was nowhere near cheating. Our disagreement stems from the differences between our beliefs and expectations for each other. In our relationship, my boyfriend had never done anything for me to lack a sense of trust. He let me know where he was, even when I did not want to know, and always tried his best to keep in contact with me. When it came to me spending time with the opposite sex, he was always comfortable with the idea which is why he thought I felt the same. He had complete trust in me and never minded the time or the place. Growing up, his father had an intimate relationship with another woman, so to him, that was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Recent statistics done on the extent of cheating that occurs in college campuses shows that the large majority of students have engaged in this vice to some extent. • 8. Essay on Is Cheating Always Unethical? First of all, is it ethical to cheat? That question can not be answered with a simple yes or no, there are more things that come into play such as, what are they cheating on, is it simply cut and pasted or did they make it there own. Cheating is not as big of a deal as people make it out to be, it is just a means to an end. Nothing anyone ever will do, no rules any university would make will change this fact. People will cheat and a majority of them will get away with it never thinking twice about it. If a person cheats and cheats well they would probably get a better understanding of the material then they would if they were to write the paper all by themselves. Cheating also teaches people how to work with others, how to ease a heavy work load so a better job can get done. Learning how to cheat is a great thing to learn and the notion that colleges and high schools have that it is bad is understandable but a misreading of human nature. Yes, cheating and plagiarism can be a terrible thing if the student does not know the topic and is just cheating to get the paper written not even understanding the meaning of the particular thing he or she stole. Cheating is just a negative connotation for using ones resources. " Cheating is an answer, it might not be the best answer, but none the less it is an answer( 198)." • 9. Observation Of The Eating Observation Assignment Throughout this course, I have studied and participated in various methods of research. There were some methods I loved, some that I thought were useful, but they had their limitations, and a few that I did not particularly enjoy. Let's start one of the methods that I enjoyed the most, direct observation. I used direct observation for the eating observation assignment. I first thought that I would be very uncomfortable using this method, but once I was practicing it I did not feel uncomfortable. I think this method is very useful since people act like themselves when they believe no one is watching. This allows researches to collect accurate data without the worry that the data could be skewed. Since my participant did not know that he was being observed, he felt comfortable is his surroundings to act like himself. I do like this research method and I would use it again, however there is a down side to the method. Since you cannot talk to you're participants you then have to make your own conclusions, which may not always be accurate. This problem also comes up with systematic observation. Systematic observation was a method that I did not particularly enjoy. I found that there were too many flaws with the method, like the one previously stated. Another flaw with systematic observation is that the researcher is taking their own preconceived notions into their research. With systematic observation, one is looking for something that they believe people to do. The problem with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Causes And Effects Of Cheating Hey there, let's talk about something almost everyone has been through at least one point in their life. Cheating most but maybe not all guys or girls have cheated on or with. It is the hardest thing for anyone to ever go through. Imagine giving all one person's trust and love and attention to one person and they just ruin all of someone's trust and leave one and not care all of a sudden. Then tell one or one find out he was cheating on ones the whole time and left one for someone else. They might not be prettier than one and they might not love him like the other person does but that person cannot help it. That might not have done anything wrong, but the person does not know how to feel. If a person been through this most people will say most people will get through it. There is a quote that says "A relationship is not a test, so why cheat?" this quote speaks volume. There are so many reasons or causes for cheating, but why do it? Why let someone or something get in the way of love or persons loved one. If the person truly loves someone why leave them why cheat on them. People won't matter to a person or another guy/girl shouldn't catch the spouse's eye. The only thing that should matter is the person's spouse. The effect of cheating can severely affect people's health or to someone wouldn't affect most of all. There are a lot of Reasons not to cheat. First of all, there is NO reason to cheat at all!!!! Information ranging from how to cook a meal to the text of the declaration of independence with detailed annotations. Today the possibilities are limitless. Not only is it available in the household on the "old fashioned" home PC, but now due to smart phones access to information is anywhere and anytime. Is that ease of access affecting the learning process of today's youth? Could students not be learning the material and simply just be doing a web search for it. That's nearly every student that admits to cheating however, there will always be a couple student who won't say they have. What exactly is cheating, is it when a student looks at their neighbor's answers, or writes a paper similar to something online? In reality it's both and more, it's whenever somebody copies someone else's work, or tries to pass off somebody else's work as their own. Could the cheating be unintentional? As Laura Tillman says many students have different definitions of cheating and may not even realize that they are doing it. All of this access to technology has made students doubt what they consider cheating. It can't be cheating if it's available to everyone right? At that point it is just taking advantage of the new technology present. It should be there to help when needed, and not to answer every question. Advances In technology have spread the knowledge to those that normally wouldn't be able to have it; however, that does not mean it should be used to pass the class. Students cheat because their whole lives are defined by the education they receive, and when the stakes are so high what else is there to do. Is that education in danger? Is it possible that the scholastic system is to blame rather than the students? It seems as if schools are more focused on how well their students do on standardized tests as opposed to how well their pupils learn (Duncan). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Why Students Are Cheating In High School A recent study shows that more students are cheating. They cheat not to survive, but to thrive. Teenagers cheat in school, so they can get good grades and not disappoint their parents. Students are cheating because they do not want to work hard enough to get the grade they want. Although, kids might have the temptation to cheat, they cannot learn when they cheat and they grow up to be adults in a shared society. Students and teachers takecheating more seriously. Kids do not learn anything because they do not want to take the time to actually learn. Kids are just lazy to learn anything. Overall 617 million kids had admitted to cheating, which includes more than 387 million children of primary school and 230 million adolescents of lower secondary school age. More than one–half of all children will not achieve the proficiency levels. Kids are cheating in different areas or levels in school. Kids only go to school to learn. Kids actually need to get an education, so they can see the difference between being lazy and actually learning something. Kids do not want to learn anything because they automatically think cheating is ok. Kids wanna cheat because they actually want to get good grades without working hard. • 13. Cheating Is Wrong Essay If you have to sneak, lie, or hide it, then nine times out of ten you shouldn't be doing it. In today's day and age people look at cheating as a way to get ahead, when in the long run you're just disabling yourself. Overall cheating is never admirable because it's a way of lying and stealing, it's unfair to others who do the right thing, and it hinders any future progress. When you cheat you're not only cheating on yourself, but on your future. To begin with it, cheating is always going to be unacceptable since it's a form of lying and stealing. When turning something into the teacher you are non–verbally stating that the work is yours. If you're cheating on the assignment, then it can be scrutinized as a form of lying. And if the work Is not yours that mean you obtained the answers from someone else pronouncing them as your own, which can also be established as stealing. The last time I checked, things like cheating and stealing were measured misguided and morally unsound. In some utmost cases, stealing and lying can get you into jail. So cheating is just a minor thing that can produce something slight more than you can handle. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essay Ethics of Cheating Cheaters Never Win, Oh wait they doВ…В…В…they're Cheaters Cheating is defined in the dictionary as, to deceive by trickery; swindle, however the dictionary fails to tell you if it is right or wrong to cheat. People have many different beliefs when it comes to cheating; some think its fine to do while others completely disapprove. I intend to show the different beliefs, from different perspectives of people, and also intend on proving which beliefs have the strongest and weakest arguments. An ethical egoist could argue that we have an obligation to cheat. Ethical egoists maintain the belief that we should act selfishly. We should do things that we believe in our self–interest, which is our own genuine interest. Egoist would cheat to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Deontology on the other hand would argue that you should not cheat. Deontology assumes that we all have clear sets of duties that we ought to obey, these are given to us from God or our own reason. Therefore cheating is obviously wrong, so you ought not to cheat. Deontology believes that you have a set of duties that you follow. In deontological ethics, an action is considered morally good because of some characteristic of the action itself, not because the result of the action is good. Of the three approaches to ethics that are mentioned above I think that the egoists support of cheating makes the best argument. Although, I personally do not believe in cheating I do think that egoist do justify the act of cheating. Egoists feel that we should put our selves before all others and that we should do what makes us happy. They feel that whatever will benefit us most will in turn make us happier. I think the comparison of the strongest argument brings out the weaknesses in the other two arguments. I feel that utilitarianism does not have as strong of an argument for cheating, because they do not look at the entire situation and also they are interested in the happiness of themselves, cheating is not necessarily always going to make you happy. I believe that deontology has the weakest argument, they live by what you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Students vs. The System Essay Students vs. the System Education has always been a great factor in determining human survival and success. Whether it is learning to live in a harsh environment or learning to manage a company, education is and always will be incredibly significant. Education is so important in modern society that a system of grades has been developed to evaluate students of all ages and levels. In Paul Goodman's essay "A Proposal to AbolishGrading" he argues that the grading system that is commonly used in our society is ineffective and should be done away with. This idea is wrong since there are many positive outcomes that result from the current grading system. Goodman opens up his piece by making his claim that grades have take precedence over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "But if the aim is to discover weakness, what is the point of down–grading and punishing it, and thereby inviting the student to conceal his weakness, by faking and bulling, if not cheating?" (Goodman 208). Why is testing for weakness a bad thing? If a test is returned to a student and it is heavy with errors, it is the student's responsibility to correct the mistakes for the next test. Once a student has realized this, in Goodman's eyes, they have become self–aware. "If the student dares to accept himself as he is, a teacher's grade is a crude instrument compared with a student's self–awareness" (Goodman 208). Throughout the essay, there is a feeling that the author relays that all students are looking to only get by in school, but in real life, that is certainly not the case. As a matter of fact, very many students in high schools are very determined to achieve their goals, so they work hard and learn to attain them, rather than taking an easy route to a good grade. Getting high letter grades is a powerful motivation for students who know what they want. For those with competitive spirits, high grades can be used to measure one's own ranking to the rest of the class. For other students, it could be a reward saying "excellent work" as opposed "you passed." As stated earlier, there are many students who are actually hard workers. • 19. Causes And Effects Of Cheating Hey there, let's talk about something almost everyone has been through at least once point in their life. Cheating most but maybe not all guys or girls have cheated on or with. It is the hardest thing to go through. Imagine giving all one person's trust and love and attention to one person and they just ruin all of someone's trust and leave one and not care all of a sudden. Then then tell one or one find out he was cheating on ones the whole time and left one for someone else. They might not be prettier than one and they might not love him like the other person do but that person cannot help it. That might not have done anything wrong but the person does not know how to feel. If a person been through this most people will say most people will get through it. There is a quote that says "A relationship is not a test so why cheat?" this quote speaks volume. There are so many reasons or causes to cheating but why do it? Why let someone or something get in the way of love or a persons loved one. If the person truly love someone why leave them why cheat on them. People won't matter to a person or another guy/girl shouldn't catch the spouse's eye. The only thing that should matter is the person's spouse. The effect of cheating can severely affect people's health or to someone wouldn't affect most at all. There are a lot of Reasons not to cheat. First of all there is NO reason to cheat at all!!!! Why cheat? Why cheat on the girl/guy that loves the person with all her heart. There is no point. If you are not happy anymore then tell them try to work it out do not just leave and not tell her/him. NEVER CHEAT ON HIM/HER EVER!!! Most built a trust with their spouse. Why ruin it, why let a good thing turn into garbage. Just talk about it with the spouse. Do not let some girl/guy ruin their feelings or the one person that loves each other and someone that would give that person the world if the person could. How do you think that person would feel if someone said the person was going to give their friend food at lunch then the person just would not even talk to them and gave the food to someone else? Well most people can relate to food because most all love one thing and that's food. Cheating can ruin trust with future ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why would students from a respected university cheat? Who should we put the blame on? A lot of people are quick to assume that it is the student 's personal morals, which causes them to cheat. I realized why a lot of student's cheat, and how certain articles that I read, proposed we fix the cheating issue. The main goal is to prevent future cheating, and you start preventing cheating by looking at what the source of that cheating is. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An entire class at Harvard was accused of cheating, however the students fought to validate their cheating actions due to the rigor and misunderstanding of the course. For instance, "Students said they were tripped up by a course whose tests were confusing, whose grading was inconsistent, and for which the professor and teaching assistants gave contradictory signals about what was expected" (Perez–Pena 1). The students cheated because they were confused as to what was expected from them. They needed to pass the class and there did not seem to be any other way but to cheat. This kind of cheating is triggered due to the environment the student is in. Contradictory signals and inconsistent grading can definitely push a student to cheat. This cheating doesn't stem from personal ethical issues or gender, it comes purely from the confusion of the tests and expectations. The students couldn't even see their actions as wrong or cheating, since everyone, even teaching assistants, who were giving out the definitions of words during a test, were supporting the "cheating" behavior. • 21. The Negative Effects Of Cheating In High Schools 1. Introduction Cheating in schools is getting worse and worse as the days fly by and here's why. Studies have shown that more students are cheating to get a good grade and thrive. The problem is that students shouldn't have to use cheating as a option for success in their grades, it shouldn't even be an option in the first place. Cheating has skyrocketed over the years as education has become more complex. Students are choosing cheating as a way to take the easy way out because they don't understand the work that is given to them. Plus, cheating is becoming much more easy to do due to the updates on technology (smartphones). The outcome of this is that cheating is getting worse because there is so many outlets for students to use to cheat and get away with it, there needs to be more rules enforced about cheating and more awareness on it so that cheating can lower down and not be a problem in schools and or at least become less of a problem than it already is. 2. Background For years, cheating has been a main problem in schools and has only gotten worse over the years and not better at all. Cheating has been used for many years and not only in the academic world. At one point in your life I'm sure you've cheated someway somehow. There are various types of cheating, for instance, in academics, relationships, or in the work place. Deceiving is too often accepted nowadays and it is not seen as an insult or a sin. Is cheating approved, as there is less religion and morals in the world? Consequently, few people have never cheated in their lives in any aspect of growth. Cheating has become extra common in relationships and academic institutions as a result of high scholastic standards, laziness, and absent virtues. Cheating is always wrong, however, everyone still performs it. It has become a vast deal too apparent today. Remarkably, abounding activities pass as cheating present–day. Whether it is in school, work, sports, relationships, or just life in general, cheating is frequent and familiar. 75% of high school students have admitted to cheating (Educational Testing Service (ETS), 1999). On another note, 70% of men and 50–60% of women conceded to cheating on their spouse (FOX News Network, 2016). An exceeding sector of the world's population agrees that cheating is not always wrong, and can be beneficial. Cheating may result in getting a good grade or getting ahead, however, ultimately, nothing was learned, and comparable to lying, in the end, it is not worth accomplishing. • 23. Is Cheating Ethical Introduction:Many people tend to equate ethics with their feelings. But being ethical is clearly not a matter of followings one's feelings. Ethics, however, cannot be confined to religion nor is it the same as religion. Being ethical is not the same as following the law. The law often incorporates ethical standards to which most citizens subscribe. But laws, like feelings, can deviate from what is ethical. Finally, being ethical is not the same as doing "whatever society accepts." In any society, most people accept standards that are ethical. But standards of behaviour in society can deviate from what is ethical. An entire society can become ethically corrupt. Nazi Germany is good example of a morally corrupt society. What then, is... In "A marathon of cheats" it says, "Thomas Hicks won the 1904 marathon in St Louis after taking two doses of brandy laced with strychnine. Hicks collapsed on the finishing line and had to be revived. There being no rule at the time against drugs, he was allowed to keep his gold medal." Now if a person is found cheating they would be stripped of their medal and disqualified. A man who finished the line before Hicks was disqualified because he had admitted to cheating. So why wasn't Hicks disqualified? Thomas Hicks was rewarded for cheating and for putting his life in danger. He had risked his life to win the race for a gold medal. Even though the other man who reached the finish line first had cheated, he admitted to it, set his morals straight and accepted the consequences that came with his actions. Stephen Mumford tells both sides of an athlete who enhances his abilities by taking drugs in his article "The Use of Performance–Enhancing Drugs Is Cheating", he says "Armstrong was a cheat; and we feel cheated," (Mumford). Athletes are not the only ones affected by their cheating. Fans are affected as well, they admire these athletes and finding out they cheated their way to the win makes them feel awful. They feel that they were cheering for someone who did not deserve to win. And if the use of drugs leads the athlete to have some serious health problems the fans will only be more devastated. Athletes that enhance their abilities by using drugs set a lousy example for children. They send the message that cheating is okay and that it is winning, when in reality cheating is not really winning because it is not the what the athlete is capable of it is what the drug is capable of. • 26. Persuasive Essay On Cheating On Homework In Survey I, 91.9% of the participants reported that they have cheated on at least one homework assignment; however, when asked why they receive answers, 13.5% of the participants stated that they do not receive answers (Appendix D). Therefore, it can be concluded that some students believe that cheating on homework assignments is not considered as immoral. This may further explain why students cheat. Furthermore, 91.9% of students reported cheating at least once, albeit 51.4% of students stating that it's bothersome when others cheat (Appendix D). This is due to self–serving bias, which is when people blame other individuals when their action negatively affects them, while they blame the situation when their act negatively affects others (Boyes, 2013). For example, if someone gets into a car accident, one automatically assumes that person is a bad driver, while if one gets into a car accident himself, one will find excuses and say it was not their own fault. Similarly, when a student cheats in high school, they find reasons to justify that action, even when they know it is wrong, which is the case with 62.2% of students in this survey (Appendix D). However, when another student cheats in the same class, it is bothersome to some students because they see it as unfair and disrespectful on the student's part. Moreover, 24.3% of students reported that they cheat because they want to help their friends out (Appendix D). Therefore, when they see others, who are not their friend ... If everyone in a class agreed to do this, it wouldn't be all that hard to do. The fact that the honor system could create such an environment of such dishonesty is awful, but it would be the honor code system itself that would drive students to that point. After all, if the honor system is about being honorable and being good, why not just be honorable to the rest of your class and just not say anything about everyone cheating. The honor system can drive students to cheat more, so it shouldn't be in place. Additionally, if you dislike another student, you could lie and say that they were cheating. No one would be able to say that you were lying about turning in the student for cheating, for there might not be a teacher or supervisor in the room to say differently. This could also lead to a student turning in another student for cheating off their work, and the person accused turning around and accusing the first student. Although it is common for students to pass a paper around or share answers on a test, most students and teachers alike overlook the cheating present in group projects because they do not always realize it is happening. Collusion is a step further than that, it is when the assignment shifts from synergy to stealing information. Collusion can occur in multiple different ways, students might work on different sections of the assignment and share their answers with the group in order to decrease workload; one or more group members might not have any input in the project and instead take credit for the work of the rest of the group, and so on. Then I think of the looks my parents, teachers, and siblings would give me. I would feel so disappointed in myself and my actions. Cheating is never the answer. It will get you nowhere in life. Even if you get away with it once, there will be a time when you won't be able to cheat or you can't get away with it. There are many different things you can cheat on. Every single human being has had a fantasy, regardless if they are in a relationship or not. In fact, we do it so much we do not realize the important day to day events. One main question is whether it is ethical to fantasize about someone other than your partner while in a committed relationship? The term fantasize has different meanings to different individuals. My definition of fantasizing is to envision doing inappropriate things to someone else. I believe that it is not ethical to fantasize about someone else while in a relationship. It always depends on the person and the type of relationship, as well as the reason behind the fantasy. Thus, it is important that we control our desires to create a healthy relationship. Fantasies create the feeling of pleasure which can easily be addicting. Taken to the extreme, this can have a negative effect on the relationship and mental health. More specifically, an individual can alienate themself from the real world and forget the real reason they are with their partner in the first place.
