Student Psychological Membership and Educational Correlates
The purpose of this study is to investigate if student Psychological Membership correlates with their academic achievement. • The idea of this proposed research is to find intervention methods if there happened to be a correlation between these two variables.

presentation is only a proposal.
• It is only a very brief note on our study and we
intend to get feed back from our group
members during the discussion session
tomorrow.
• We will fine tune the proposal before we carry
out the actual research.
3. The Purpose
• The purpose of this study is to investigate if
student Psychological Membership correlates
with their academic achievement.
• The idea of this proposed research is to find
intervention methods, if there happened to be
a correlation between these two variables.

• Psychological Membership: Student sense of
belonging in a school or university.
• Academic Achievement: In this respect this
study considers only the Cumulative Grade
point Average (CGPA) obtained by students in
their final year.
6. Research Questions
• Is there a correlation between student sense
of belonging and their academic
achievement?
• What are the aspects or domains of their
psychological membership that perceived to
influence student academic grades?
7. Sample and Sampling
• The study will use about 50 students from a
Public university and another 50 students
from a private university in the Klang Valley,
Malaysia.
• The representation of the sample students will
be from the various levels such as:
• Undergraduate and postgraduate.
8. • As this study involves volunteer students from
two universities only, we, the authors will use
non-probability Sampling.
• This means, the outcome of the research will
provide some idea about the phenomenon for
future intensive research.
9. Method
• The study will use the administration of
Questionnaire adopted from:
• The questionnaire will use a FIVE(5) point
Likert Scale with degrees of agreement and
non agreement.
10. Analysis
• Adopted version of quantitative questionnaire
from previous studies will be used to test the
phenomenon in Malaysia.
• The data will be analysed via statistical
measures using SPSS.
• In the first part the study will use descriptive
and inferential statistics.
11. • In the second part, a correlation graph will be
drawn to see the strength of the correlation.
• On a further note aspects such as factor
loading and regression will be performed.
• The final part will provide a structural
Equation modelling to understand the
phenomenon in detail.
12. • We can talk about the details of the study
during discussion session tomorrow.
