A Critique of the Proposed National Education Policy Reform
Studying 80s Fashion
1.
2. IN GENERAL
When you think of 80s fashion, you probably think of neon colours, big hair and
leg warmers. Although this is a fairly accurate representation of fashion in the
80s, it’s not the top and bottom of it. There was far more to 80s fashion which
I shall be researching throughout this PowerPoint. It’s important that I
research fashion in the 80s in order to make my music magazine realistic, as
I have decided to create a glam pop magazine, and glam pop was a style that
was big in the 80s.
3. MEMBERS ONLY JACKETS
Chances are, if you were into 80s fashion, you had a
Members Only Jacket. These jackets were very
popular in the 80s. They were first introduced in
1981 and came in a variety of colors.
4. ACID WASH JEANS
Acid Wash Jeans were jeans that were soaked in
chlorine or some other product that removed
the top layer of blue denim and left the jeans
looking white with blue undertones. If you
were really cool in the 80s you wore the
matching acid washed denim coat to match
the jeans. In 80s fashion, you could not have
too much denim!
5. SHOULDER PADS
Women went for the square shouldered look by
putting shoulder pads in their outfits. This form
of 80s fashion showed up often on the night time
soaps like Dynasty.
6. FLASHDANCE STYLE – OFF-THE-SHOULDER
SHIRT
After Flashdance was released in 1983, many
people took fashion inspiration from it.
This included the off-the-shoulder shirt
that is featured in this photo.
8. TURTLENECKS
Turtlenecks were in fashion in the 1980s. They
were often worn underneath jumpers,
although they were sometimes worn
without a jumper.
9. 80S HAIRSTYLES
Allure magazine has done an article on 13 hairstyles that were around in
the 80s which I have read and will be taking into consideration for my
photoshoots:

10. 80S MAKEUP
These websites offer me some insight into the makeup worn in the 80s:

I will use some of the styles described when I make over my models for my
photo shoot.
