• Every year in America we celebrate Thanksgiving
on the fourth Thursday of November
• This holiday celebrate the first feast pilgrims had
when they came to America
• We also give thanks on this day for all

3. THE VERY FIRST
• In 1621,When the settlers when to hunt for their
harvest meal the Wampanoag thought it was the
settlers coming to fight. But when Massasoit arrived
with his men he found out he was wrong.
• Massasoit sent some of his own men to hunt with the
settlers and teach them their ways.
• The settlers and the Wampanoag celebrated their
feast for three days.
4. SOME THINGS THEY DID
• What the settlers ate at their feast was very
different!
• Deer
• Corn,
• Shellfish
• Roasted meat
• The settlers and Wampanoag also played ball
games, sang, and danced.
5. AS A NATIONAL HOLIDAY
• In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln declared that in
November we would give thanks for our blessing.
