early1960s, what is the current relationship between the two
countries, and what one could expect for 2016 and beyond.
 TIMELINE
 5 minutes on background and introduction using the projector.
 10 minutes discussing the materials which were given to each
syndicate member on the 22 February 2016?
 10 minutes discussion the syndicate members’ opinions on the topic.

Background
 The U.S, Cuba and Soviet Union
 1959, Fidel Castro overthrows Batista who was backed by the U.S
 Castro took over all the U.S businesses in Cuba including a huge
sugar industry
 14 October 1962, US U2 spy planes took pictures of suspected USSR
missile sites on Cuba.
 3,000 km range also included Canada
 Blockade established and the U.S was on the blink to launch an
airstrike/ invasion.
 Cuba remain a communist state
