1. The zoom effect at the very beginning of
the clip enables the audience to gradually
get an idea of the scene setting. The first
Telephoto shot isolates Amelia from the
background and focuses on just her.
However, when this zooms out to produce
more of the foreground action, the wide-
angle shot allows more of the background
to come into focus and set the scene.
2. As we were unable to use an establishing/
long shot to establish the location and
characters, we instead used an aerial shot
to ensure a clear view was given of the
situation and highlight the main character
at the same time.
This technique was achieved by using the
tripod to ensure a steady and secure
flowing movement.
3. A cutaway shot should be a shot of an
object, detail or gesture which can be
included at any point without breaking the
continuity of the main action.
For one of these cutaway shots we included the
countdown of Amelia’s alarm, waking her and making
her jump out of bed in a rush. This shot really helped
link the two disjointed clips before and after it together,
without compromising the continuity of the film.
4. Height and level are important factors for
adding interest and attention to specific
actions.
There is a straight-on camera shot that is
low to the ground to focus all attention on
the action of Amelia putting her slippers
on.
The camera is level as not to give an
unclear picture of what is happening.

5. We used match-on-action when the girls walk
into Amelia’s bedroom. Because there were so
many people in one clip, we divided this by two
to have two separate match-on-action shots in
one go.
6. This long shot allowed the setting to be established, as
well as showing the whole cast together in one clip.
This is returned to several times throughout the rest of
the film, as it is a good shot to show the scene with
everyone featured in it, and establishes clear
relationships within them.
7. High-angle shots were used when
showing the possessions being picked up
or put into a bag.
There was no specific reason for this type
of shot to be used other than the fact it is
very clear and easy to see what was
happening, which was vital due to the
fast- pace and alternating of the clips.
The high- angle shot was also
useful for adding variety to the close
up shots.
