1. Question 1
Opening conventions
All films have had a product title right before there movie having their
indent on it showing the audience who made the film. We are using this
opening convention and would not change this if we could.
All opening have then a title shot of the films name as the scene is being played
out or just before the open sequence. We are using the traditional convention
and also would not change it if we could.
As the opening sequence was playing out we had the credits place in the scenes
with care due and attention on where we placed them making them seep into the
scenes. We were developing from the traditional convention by doing this making
them be seen but not to draw to much eye attention away from what was going on
in the scene
Thriller conventions
Most thriller have some light placed in certain area to put light on a object or
person to draw attention to them or away to create long shadows to create
an atmosphere fitting to the scene. This Mise en scene method we used. We
used it on first appearance of the main character to draw attention to him
and make him the main focus of the scene but it also created long shadows
on the walls and door which created an eerie atmosphere
We used low down camera angle when the main character came up
the stairs to create the impression that he is small and scared. It also
created to look of weakness and powerless in his environment. We
used the thriller convention and developed on the idea to make it
also track him as he came up to then make him become powerful
and make it seem that he had gained strength
Sound play a big part of thrillers and sets the mood of a scene or a
practically part into motion in a completely differ t direction if it wants to.
We used our sound to create an eerie atmosphere straight away which
would change as the opening played. We also made part of the sound to
change in volume at certain points to give an atmospheric jump to the
audience giving that thriller style to our opening.
