2. Alaska’s wildlife
Many animals live in Alaska. There are fish and seals, different kinds of
bears,birds like the Bald eagle, and whales and many other animals.
Alaska’s animals have adaptations to survive without being eaten. For example
the Willow ptarmigan,Alaska’s state bird changes color in winter and summer.
In winter it turns white to blend in with the snow and in summer it turns brown
with white spots.
3. Alaska’s history.
In 1959 John Benson created Alaska’s state flag. He chose a blue background
for the sky and chose the Big Dipper for strength.
Native Americans came over ten thousand years ago.
The Native Americans hunted mostly water mammals such as seals. They used
kayaks to travel on the water and used dog sleds to travel on land.
In the 1800s the United States bought Alaska from Russia.
4. Living in Alaska.
In winter in Alaska the temperature can be as low as -50 degrees in summer it
can be 32 degrees.
Alaska’s coastline is bigger than the rest of the United States coastline put
together.
5. Alaska’s beauty.
Alaska has lots of beautiful land. It has mountains, glaciers of ice, and the
beautiful sky of Alaska.
Alaska has a lot of beautiful plants too. The state flower is the Alpine Forget Me
Not.
