GorillasBy: Mrs. Brustman
Main Idea:
A gorilla’s body is adapted for survival in the jungle.
A gorilla’s arms are longer than its legs.
● They need long arms to balance out their heavy weight.
If they walked on even arms and legs like other animals,
they will injure their hips.
● Longer arms help them swing through the trees as they
travel through the jungle.
Gorilla’s have strong teeth.
● They have 32 teeth. They are very sharp. They use them
to grind their food.
● They use their strong teeth to rip though vines.
● Their teeth help them protect their young. They use them
for defense.
Gorillas have opposable toes and thumbs.
Gorillas use their toes and thumbs to help them carry their
babies.
Their toes and thumbs help them eat their food.
