2. Situated at the northwest corner of the North American continent, Alaska is separated by Canadian territory from the coterminous 48 states. Alaska is the largest of the 50 states, with a total area of 591,004 sq mi (1,530,699 sq km). Land takes up 570,833 sq mi (1,478,456 sq km) and inland water 20,171 sq mi (52,243 sq km). Alaska is more than twice the size of Texas, the next-largest state, and occupies 16% of the total US land area; the E-W extension is 2,261 mi (3,639 km); the maximum N-S extension is 1,420 mi (2,285 km).
3. Zoo- The Alaska Zoo is a 30 acre facility with a variety of native wildlife species; bears wolves, musk oxen, and reindeer are some of the favorites. The Alaska Zoo also has a small collection of exotic animals, including Siberian tigers, camels, and an elephant. Deer Mountain Tribal Hatchery & Eagle Center raises and releases thousands of young salmon each year. Visitors can view fish in different stages of growth, feed them a snack, and watch salmon swimming upstream at the Fish Ladder. 4. One of the reasons why I would love to live in Alaska is the weather. I really like the cold weather and the snowing. I like the clothes the clothes they wear because they wear colorful and all types of jackets. I don’t have many reasons but I would just love to live there. The only bad thing is that now, the ice is melting and someday Alaska may disappear.
