Fish Story
Antonique was a fifteen year old who was wanting to get a new fish since her brother Ace had
four orange fish already. She begged her mom to get one, but ever since Antonique was little she
was not very good at taking care of things. Every pet she has had has either died, ran away or been
given away. Her mom decided to give her another chance to be responsible and told Antonique if she
feeds and cleans the fish bowl everyday then she can keep it. She went to the pet store got all her
supplies and ended up with an orange fish that she named Dora. She loved Dora, she talked to her
throughout the day, and Dora was more than a fish to Antonique. She felt as if she could tell Dora
anything because Dora couldn’t judge her for anything that she told her. Dora always seemed sad
though and lonely, she never really swam around and a couple of times she would hide behind the
little plants in her fish bowl. On a weekend Antonique’s brother went to stay at his friends so
Antonique went in his room and got his fish bowl. She put Dora’s fish bowl and the other fish bowl
next to eachother in the kitchen. Dora kept looking in the other fish bowl at all the other fish, she
eventually kept running into the fish bowl because she thought she could swim through to the other
bowl. Antonique thought this would cheer Dora up as to this would help her not be so lonely. That
night Antonique went to her friend’s house as well leaving the fish bowl’s in the kitchen. The next
couple days Antonique came back and found Dora dead on the kitchen counter, she couldn’t
understand what happened because they don’t have any cats or anything. Dora had tried to jump to
the other bowl with the other fish out of her bowl and missed their bowl. Antonique was very upset
and when her mom came home or mom was very disappointed in her. She felt as if this was her last
time to prove to her mom that she could be responsible even though the situation wasn’t that much of
her fault.
