2. Product
• We are creating the opening two minutes for a thriller
movie. Our movie ‘Inhumane’ fits into the sub genre of a
psychological thriller. It will be shown in cinemas across
the country and left running for approximately one
month, following this the film will be available on sky box
office channels/paying channels. Eventually our film will
be released onto dvd and Blu-ray. We will advertise our
film at the in the beginning of other horror and thriller
movies as the audience we are trying to reach is already
supplied for us. We will also advertise on youtube as this
is free and the majority of our target audience frequently
use youtube.
3. Target Audience
• Our film is classified as a 15. Our film is aimed at people
aged between 15 and 30. We chose 15 as the youngest
age, as children younger than this could become upset
and permanently scared when watching a child their age
be taken and tortured. We selected 30 as our peak age as
we are going to keep the events relevant to youth/teen
life of today, and we believe people older than 30 will not
be able to relate to the characters and action.
4. Context
• Our final product will be posted to Youtube. This allows
the audience free access to our film, and provides them
with a chance to give us feedback - this will benefit our
production as we can make any changes which will
improve the film; ensuring the audience is happy and
therefore ensuring a successful product. Our opening
two minutes will have to be gripping and eventful, we
want the public to be excited for the full feature.
5. Media Language
• We are creating a psychological thriller.
Camerawork: we will use a lot of close ups in the film to
show facial expressions to show feelings. We will also use
this shot to highlight key props eg. Close ups on a teddy
bear to represent the protagonists innocence. We will
use a point of view shot for the antagonist so his identity
is not revealed to the audience leaving a mystery. We will
switch from images of the protagonist to the antagonist
to exaggerate the contrasts in character.
Sounds: We will use a soundtrack in the background of
the film to avoid too many silent moments, having these
sounds will also build suspense and create atmosphere.

8. Genre
• We are creating primarily a thriller film, it will be a
psychological thriller; this uses elements of obsession
stalking and mind games. Our protagonist will be at
home alone, revealing to our audience that she is not
protected by an adult. The audience should worry for her
wellbeing. When the antagonist breaks in to the girls
home the audience will feel powerless. This is all part of
the genre, the audience are forced to watch something
they have no control over. As we are only creating the
first two minutes of the film we are going to try to
include as many conventions of the thriller genre as we
can, without overloading and making it seem cheesy.
