The Day Of The Kitchen
When Sheamus walked into the classroom several weeks later, he realized that everyone was acting strangely, especially Ms. McMahon. "Sheamus,"
she asked sweetly, "Would you mind doing something very important for me?" "Okay," Sheamus replied. "What is it?" "I need you to go down to
the kitchen and see if the cooks need any help," Ms. McMahon said. "But," Sheamus protested, "The cooks don't like us." "Don't worry about that,"
Ms. McMahon pointed out dismissively. "They really need help," she insisted. "Whatever you say, Ms. McMahon," Sheamus responded with a shrug.
He disappeared through the door, heading for the kitchen. Shawn waited a few seconds and then stood up on his chair. He looked around and
exclaimed, "Alright guys,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ms. McMahon promptly pulled him down so that he wouldn't hurt himself. A short while later, Sheamus reentered the classroom. "The cooks
weren't down there, Ms. McMahon," he began to explain. He suddenly took note of the decorations haphazardly set up across the room. "What's
going on here?" he asked suspiciously. "You didn't forget, did you?" Punk questioned. "It's your birthday." "Happy birthday!" the class cried
joyously. "Of course I didn't forget," Sheamus retorted, grinning happily. "Just wasn't expecting this, that's all." "Well, since we didn't get to jump out
and yell 'surprise'," Shawn said, "Maybe we could bring out the radio again." He turned and looked hopefully at the teacher. "Fine," Ms. McMahon
sighed, sounding defeated. "You may use the radio." With a collective cheer, the children dragged the radio out of its place in the closet and
commenced the party.

Some time afterwards, the bell rang for recess and the children scrambled outside into the snow. At Sheamus's request, it was quickly decided that they
would have an all–out snowball war. Teams were hastily selected and bases speedily built. The small Kindergarten armies squatted behind monstrous
mounds of snow and secretively plotted war strategies. Finally, the time came to strike. Everyone rushed out onto the battlefield, seemingly forgetting
all notions of their previous planning. Snow flew in all directions,

Ski Vacation: A Fictional Narrative
Olivia slammed the door to her log cabin in Lake Tahoe, she had seen Brooke in the cabin next to hers. Olivia hated Brooke. Her family had lots of
money so she would get everything she wanted. Olivia wanted that necklace she'd always seen Brooke wear since her birthday.
"I need her necklace! The gold and the diamonds look so good!" Olivia told her brother Simon.
"I don't get why you hate Brooke but at the same time want to be her." Simon replied.
"Jesus Simon! You don't understand me, you never have!"
"C'mon sis! You don't have to do this during our 13th annual ski vacation. We won't see each other until I go to college. Wow, when we did the first

Snowball Intellectual
Intellectual, pro–education, and vivacious. Three words is all it takes to describe a character who literally has much character. Snowball, one of the
three pigs that are leading Animal Farm, is all about spreading education to the rest of the animals on the farm. Co–leader, Napolean, and Snowball
work together and put two important parts into place. Napolean being the muscle, and Snowball being the brain. This character is smart, and wants
to make sure everyone surrounding him will build skill as well. For example, having critically studied every inch in the farm and the new
Commandments, it is more than accurate to call Snowball intellectual. Snowball also works very hard to make sure he andvances in his knowledge.
As stated by the author,"Snowball...quicker in speech and more inventive...". The intellect possesed by Snowball gave his character an advanced
way of response. "Then Snowball (for it was Snowball who was best at writing) took a brush between teh tow knuckles of his trotter, painted out
MANOR FARM from the top bar of the gate and in its place painted ANIMAL FARM.", Snowball is recognized as the pig in the farm that best new
and understood the subjects that he set himself out to learn. He uses his intellect during the book in order to explain to the other animals certain things

Snowball is compared to Napolean, and is said to be "vivacious" during the book. As stated, "Snowball was a more vivacious pig than Napoleon,
quicker in speech and more inventive, but was not considered to have the same depth of character.". Snowball is very enthusiastic and alive during
the book which would give him the title of vivacious. " Now, Comrades, to the hayfeild! Let us make it a point of hour to get in the harvest more
quickly than Jones and his men could do." The attitude he had towards working to get them farther than they could before with humans, was very alive

Short Story Of A Pumpkin
Have you ever had a situation where you think telling the truth will get you in trouble, however lying or not saying anything would possibly make the
situation worse? Then you're faced with the decision of telling the truth, or keeping quiet and awaiting the results. This is the story of how I learned to
always be honest.
It was a snowy, January afternoon several years ago when my brother and I were playing in the snow at my grandparent's house. I was digging in a
massive mountain of snow. I was trying to make a snow bunker for a later planned snowball fight against my big brother. When through the white
cascade, I saw a small speck of orange in the sea of white. To my surprise, I dug up a miniature pumpkin that had been withered by the... Show more

I was still holding the pumpkin in my hand, and I noted the diameter of the pipe and the size of my pumpkin appeared to be very similar. A quick
thought came to my mind," I wonder how well they fit together?" and I let curiosity get the best of me. I wiggled the pumpkin into the pipe. It was
almost an airtight fit. Then I reached my hand back into it to pull the pumpkin out, and it just pushed the pumpkin farther back into the pipe. The
stubborn pumpkin wouldn't come out! I panicked for what seemed like an eternity, thinking about what kinds of punishments I would receive if
someone found out. But if nobody found out, I wouldn't have to face any punishments. So, I decided that I wouldn't tell anyone about what had
just happened. After it got dark I met back up with my brother who was over by the big hill in the back of the yard. We walked back over to the
house talking about the forts that we made and how many snowballs we were getting ready. Then he asked,"Did you find any pumpkins in the
snow?" I Knew he discovered what I did, but I thought that I should just play dumb. I said, "No pumpkins at all. Why would you think that I found
any pumpkins? "He said right back," I

Snowball Earth Hypothesis
Evidence suggests that 635 million years ago a glacial period occurred, as a result the planet became what scientists call a Snowball Earth. According
to the geological and paleontological evidence gained from iron formation, paleomagnetism, and cap carbonates, the globe went through a period of
glaciation. The original theory Snowball Earth, proposed that the globe was once covered entirely with ice or snow from poles to the equator. As most
of the continental mass was near the equator there was a heightened silicate weathering that resulted in "higher equatorial albedo" and carbon–dioxide
"drawdown" which led to global cooling and sea ice expansion (1, 3). On the contrary, another theory promotes Slushball Earth, it was proposed as
some scientists were resistant to the fact that everything was frozen. As that would be too extreme for the survival of eukaryotes and could not justify the

They found glacial sediments to be situated at low latitudes, a "distributed repartition of glacial deposits from low to high latitudes", strongly
supports the existence of a global Neoproterozoic glaciation (5). The main concern still remains to be the survival of life and a study suggests that
prokaryotes like bacteria do not require oxygen to survive and they tend to live in hydrothermal vents. Yet, the photosynthetic organisms cannot
survive but cracks in the ice during the event would allow photosynthesizers to persist and produce trace amounts of oxygen that could be used by
eukaryotes (6). To sum up, Snowball Earth is the most accepted theory to explain the glacial period. The hypothesis is supported by cap carbonates,
BIFs, and paleomagnetism. However, more strong evidence is required to fully support it and thus the research is still

The Similarities Between Leon Trotsky and Snowball in Animal Farm
As Leon Trotsky once said, "From being a patriotic myth, the Russian people have become an awful reality." and the reality of Animal Farm by
George Orwell is that the character Snowball is a direct representation of Leon Trotsky in the Russian Revolution. Three questions I will be addressing
are first, What are some parallels we find between Leon Trotsky and Snowball, How does Trotsky's success resemble Snowballs success, and How is
Trotskys fate the same as Snowballs. I am going to address these three essential questions and show how Snowball is a direct representation of Leon

Between 1922 and 1924 Vladimir Lenin worked to try and counter Stalin's claims and support Trotsky on many occasions. After Lenin died from a
stroke, Stalin was free to push Trotsky out of power and silence him. He was gradually pushed out of important roles in the soviet government and
eventually exiled by Stalin. Over seven years he was pushed farther and farther away into different countries until he arrived in Mexico. A little
while after he arrived, Stalin planned to have Trotsky assassinated. On 24 May 1940, Trotsky survived a raid on his home by armed Stalinist
assassins led by GPU agent Iosif Grigulevich, Mexican painter and Stalinist David Alfaro Siqueiros, and Vittorio Vidale. On 20 August 1940, Trotsky

To investigate how brokers accessed and activated social capital, we drew on data from a larger study of mathematics and science professional
development in a major metropolitan region in the Western United States. The larger study used interviews and surveys to map the advice and
collaboration networks of professional development providers in the two subjects. For the current study, we used data on the advice network of
professional development providers in mathematics.[1] We chose the mathematics network because the state in which the study was conducted had
already adopted and begun implementing the Common Core Standards in mathematics. The second author, along with a team of research assistants,
collected the interview data for the study. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We chose to do this due to time and resource constraints, as the second wave of interviews added an additional 86 names to the list. Using a survey
also allowed us to give the first– and second–wave participants an opportunity to see the fully appended list. Participants in the first wave only saw the
names on the wave one list, while the second–wave participants only saw the names on the wave two list. We send the list to all participants in the first
two rounds, along with the newly added names for wave three (Wave 3, n = 101). The surveys mirrored the third part of the interview. Participants
saw a list of names and indicated who they went to for collaboration or advice. For each name selected, they were asked the reason for collaboration
and/or advice seeking. We created the list of reasons through inductive coding of the first two rounds of interviews. We generated eight possible
reasons: It's our job, Expertise, Reputation, Proximity, Prior professional relationship, Good to work with, Similar beliefs, and Other. As before, the
survey solicited additional names from participants, which were added for a hypothetical fourth round. At this point, we conclude the snowball
process. The overall response rate for the survey was 79%. Critical to this study is the multi–organizational nature of the network. PD providers were

The purpose of this essay is to analyse a skill and its subroutine in European handball. This game is played with two teams both made up up 7 players
including the goaly, and the shoooting player can not step into the goly area. Skilled performers in handball have a highly developed information
processing capaciting. There are 3 stages of learning, Cognitive, Associative, and Autonomous stage.
A motorskill is a sequence of movements that are learnt through practice and have a definite outcome. The shooting and jump shot movement is used
in European handball to get into the goal and have less room to shoot the ball. an advantage of this skill is to gain more ground. an disadvantage of
this is your unstable in the air and when shooting you can have poorer aiming. To use the shooting with jump shot technique; you take a 2–3 step
approach, then you tuen 90 degrees, flex and bend your knees, launch and jump into the air while extending your throwing arm bac, shot the ball
brining your elbow trough first, release the ball, follow through. In week 1 I didnt really know what to do, i coudlnt goal keep or pass the ball that

Cold War-Personal Narrative
Time itself was frozen. Yesterday was cold, but not like this. Now, it is almost zero. I stepped across the carpeted floor as the support wood creaked
under thermal contraction. The staircase shivered as I descended. No one was there except for an old wooden table and a fork. Slowly sliding across
the frozen floor, I navigate the dark maze of hallways that is my first floor. I grab my ski jacket, put on my boots and slide outside without a sound. No
one is anywhere, and as far as my family is concerned, I am still asleep. I begin to work at creating my arsenal. I mobilize for a total war.
Scoop, Pack, Place. Scoop, Pack, Place. I build a mountain higher and higher with these frozen missiles. With fifteen of the highest quality WMD's

mean and that "Gerald", our snowman, is just a bit thicker than most. When freed from the prison of modern air–control systems, we went back out to
expand our ball. We were the Prince and as the King of All Cosmos commanded, we rolled the white world into our Katamari. Our neighbors came

Snowball Short Story
One day, in 4th grade during winter time, me and my friends were playing in the snow. Me and my friends were athletic, so we spent a lot of time
outside. The air was biting at our noses, and snowmen with orange noses and piles of snowballs behind snow walls littered the area. Snowballs
zoomed across the yard, occasionally decapitating a snowman, or exploding on someone's jacket. I threw my hardest snowball, aimed directly for
someone's back. As he reached down to get another snowball, the snowball kept going. My snowball had shattered a window. Everyone quickly
dispersed and ran to the end of the street, and met up. I was nervous and embarrassed. "You almost hit me with that!" My friend exclaimed. "I'm
sorry, but please don't say anything," I pleaded, "The snowball will melt, and our parents won't know what happened." "This isn't gonna work,
you're going to get us in trouble." My friend retorted. "Nobody's gonna find out." I repeated. After a day or two, my parents had heard that our
neighbor's window had broken. They asked me if I had heard anything about it, but I simply said no. When I got to school, my friends continued to
urge me to confess, but I would not budge. Another couple of days passed, and me and my friends were hanging out again. This time our parents
were there and seemed angry. They knew where we were when the window broke, and so they knew one of us had broken it, but they didn't know
who. Everyone glanced at me, but I still did not talk. This went

about his size or anything really. Icicle always ignored these comments. That night, after a long day of teasing, Icicle dreamed that that he was

he woke up. "Great. I woke up," said Icicle. "Of course you woke up," said Snowball, "You will always wake up." "We need to move." "WHAT?"
"We need to move." "Move where? To a new cave?" Snowball towered over his brother. It made Icicle feel super small. "No, to ZOO. We'll get
everything we want," said Icicle. That sealed the deal. Snowball nodded and went outside to look at the view of their cave while Icicle jumped
around their cave with a smile on his face. After Icicle went to the bathroom, they ate breakfast, Snowball went to the bathroom, Icicle went to the

State of Research on the "Snowball Earth Hypothesis"
The "Snowball Earth Hypothesis" also known as the "Varangia glaciation" is a hypothesis presented in 2001 by Geologist Paul Hoffman. (Wikipedia,
2002)
The hypothesis purposes that 540 million years ago during the Neoproterozic, a meter thick of ice covered the oceans and glaciers the continents for
100 million years. Albedo; when ice and snow reflect solar radiation into space, in absents of greenhouse gases, which don't exist within the atmosphere,
heat therefore escapes the planet. A condition of temperature disequilibrium occurs, whenfreezing cold reaches a state, the climate never warms to

In 1998 the team of geologists had culled clues from Namibia and fashioned the Snowball hypothesis. (monastersky, 1998)
Source and Nature of research
The research into collecting data proving or disproving Snowball Earth was conducted by geologists who had collected Neoproterozoic rock samples
in Australia, China, western U.S., Arctic Islands of Svalbard and the Namibia coast. (Hoffman, et al. 1998)
Research included conducting a geologic survey of the Congo craton, facies of Ghaub formation fill valleys. Rock specimens were taken from the
lower glacial intervals (Chugs Formation) to just beneath the unconformity at the base of Mulden group, Southern Damara margin of the craton and
Kaoko craton, Kalahari craton, Amadeus basin. These rock specimens were microdrilled and the elements Sr, Mn, Fe, Ca, Mg were measured for
abundance using inductively coupled plasma emission spectoscopy to assess diagenetic alteration. These sample were analyzed offline for DELTA

In George Orwell's novel, Animal Farm, one of the pigs, Snowball was one unofficial leaders after the animals took over their farm in a great
rebellion. Snowball is first portrayed as a philanthropic or patriotic leader, but as the book progresses Napoleon and Squealer degrade his
reputation to make themselves look better and to have a reason for bad things or a common hate. When Snowball is driven out of the farm,
Napoleon and Squealer get right to work to fog the other animal's memory of the good things he did. At the beginning of the book, Snowball's feats
were celebrated and his ideas praised. Right after Jones and his men failed to win the farm back, Snowball was given a medal to honor his heroics,
Orwell wrote, "The animals decided ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For we know now–it is all written down in the secret documents that we have found–that in reality he was trying to lure us to our doom"(90). Napoleon
then convinced the animals that he saved them by attacking Jones and it wasn't Snowball that did that. Again, you see Napoleon trying to manipulate
the animals to say that he was the hero instead of his competitor who he banished. If the animals think that Napoleon's leadership and decisions are
beneficial for the farm and Napoleon has their trust, the animals don't think they have any reason to not trust him. This makes it easier for Napoleon to
manipulate the animals who already don't have a good memory and have never been taught to tell right from wrong or truth from

Snowball Character Analysis
As George Lucas says "Power Corrupts, and when you're in charge, you start doing things that you think are right, but they're actually not". It is
right to assume snowball would have been just as ruthless as Napoleon when put in a state of power and leadership, as it states in the quote above
when you're in charge you do things wrong even if you think they are right. There are many different reasons why Snowball would have been just as
ruthless a leader as Napoleon when put in a state of power these are, gaining access to luxuries not wanted to be shared with the other animals, Higher
intelligence of the pigs making them natural leaders and even though all the animals were "equal" some species naturally gain power over others.
Snowball would have been just as Ruthless of a leader as Napoleon when put in a state of power and leadership is that having power over the whole
farm the Pigs had access to luxuries that they could stop the other Animals from Having. As the pigs become the leaders of the farm they start to
gain access to Luxuries like access to beds and sleeping in the farmhouse, to cover this up squealer says that it is ok for animals to sleep in beds as
long as they do not have sheets as they are a human invention. All leaders always gain luxuries over the other people they control, this leads them to
becoming corrupt by hiding these luxuries from their fellow species as you see the pigs greedily do in animal farm and then covering it with excuses

Narrative Essay About Snowball
On a cold winter day, my friend, Scarlett, and I were getting ready to have a fun snowball fight. We are outside in the big snow pile in my front lawn
and we decide to start building our snow wall to be protected by the snowballs. Every year we have a snowball fight in one of our lawns. It is kind of
our tradition because we do it every year.

I couldn't believe she just did that, for me. Scarlett is the shy type of person. I came out of the garage and by the time I did, the boys were gone.
"Thank you so much for what you just said. I really appreciate it," I smiled, freezing cold and wet.
"Oh you heard all of that? Well it's no problem. I would do anything for you. After all, we are best friends," Scarlett said, smiling back to me.
"So, what do you say we get back to our snowball fight?" I asked, laughing a little.
"Girls, why don't you come inside and get some warm hot chocolate?" my dad asked us.

Snowball Research Paper
The One and Only, Snowball! George Orwell's, Animal Farm begs the question: who is the more effective leader: Snowball or Napoleon? This
allegorical novella reflects events leading up to the Russian Revolution and into the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union. This book is about the animals
of Animal Farm who rebel against man and try to live on and run the farm themselves. The pigs of the farm are the most intelligent among the
animals; the boars, Snowball and Napoleon fight for a more powerful spot to lead Animal Farm. Snowball is the most effective leader because he
cared more about the other animals than Napoleon. To begin with, Snowball was the most effective leader because he had a loving heart for the
animals on the farm. One example from Animal Farm that showed that Snowball cared is, "'Now comrades,' cried Snowball, throwing down the

An example from Animal Farm was when, "In the autumn, by a tremendous, exhausting effort, for the harvest had to be gathered at almost the same
time–the windmill was finished" (29). This example revealed that after 2 years of hard labour for the animals, Napoleon congratulated the animals
on their achievement of building the windmill. However, the idea of the windmill came from Snowball's knowledge. An example in the book that
gave Snowball credit for his work was when, "Snowball declared that this was just the place for a windmill...The mechanical details came mostly
from three books which had belonged to Mr. Jones One Thousand Useful Things to Do About the House, Every Man His Own Bricklayer, and
Electricity For Beginners" (15). This example proved that Snowball was clever enough to educate himself by reading books and to conduct a plan for
a windmill on the farm. Hence, without Snowball the windmill would've not been built and Napoleon would have not not made use of the windmill for

What Is The Theme Of Snowball
I created the tagline "It keeps rolling downhill..." because the story ultimately is wrapped around Dunstan Ramsay's life and ever since he was a ten
year old boy on that one winter evening throwing snowballs with his friend Percy everything started to go downhill for Dunstable. I feel like one of
the biggest themes in this novel is wrapped around that individual snowball that Percy threw at Dunstan which he ducked and hit Mrs Dempster on the
back of the head. Which is mentioned several times throughout the novel. As later discussed in the novel Boy had put a stone in that very snowball
aimed towards Dunstan. "It is the stone you put in the snowball you threw at Mrs Dempster" [187]. That is why the poster background is in the winter

as violent as world war 2. And we also played football and we did not want it to be violent so we just played two and tap. Kickball was fun until i

Comparing Napoleon And Snowball
Aubrey king Mrs. tamayo 5/8/17 Napoleon and snowball are two of the biggest leaders in the book "Animal farm".They share their differences
and characteristics in many ways as both seem to fight an endless war on trying to be the best. Napoleon was a pretty big mean looking Berkshire
pig, and the only Berkshire on the entire farm. He seemed to almost always get his way and would become very upset if it didn't go the he wanted it
to. Snowball seems to be the more suttle and more intelligent pig out of the group. He is more content on trying to benefit the whole farm while
napoleon is really more focused on getting rid of snowball so he can be leader. For example while snowball carefully planned out how he was going to

Animal Farm Snowball
In the novel, Animal Farm, George Orwell portrays Snowball as a more imaginative and inventive character. Napoleon was a poor leader and he didn't
treat the animals on the farm fairly. Before Napoleon chased Snowball off the farm, Snowball co–operates with Napoleon and Squealer to organize Old
Majors ideas into the principles of Animalism, and to reduce these to the Seven Commandments. It is Snowball who organizes the various Animal
Committees and the classes in reading and writing, therefore showing interest in the other animals. Snowball also anticipates the first attack on Animal
Farm and, having studied up on strategy. Snowball would have been a better leader than Napoleon and would have improved the lives of the animals

Before the Battle of the Cowshed, Snowball Studied up on strategy by reading a book on Caesar's campaigns. "Snowball who had studied an old
book of Julius Caesar's campaigns which he had found in the farmhouse, was in charge of the defensive operations. Snowball fought alongside
with the animals in the rebellion against Mr.Jones. He fought bravely in the Battle of the Cowshed. "Snowball now gave the signal for charge. He
himself dashed straight for Jones. Jones saw him coming, raised his gun and fired. The pellets scored bloody streaks along Snowball's back, and a
sheep dropped dead. Without halting for a second, Snowball flung fifteen stone against Jones's legs." (Orwell, pg. 42) Snowball was given
"Animal Hero, First Class," for his bravery in the battle. After Snowball was chased out of Animal Farm, Napoleon lies and says that Snowball was
a traitor from the beginning and that he was with Mr. Jones, Boxer which disagrees with this and states, '"I do not believe that' he said. 'Snowball
fought bravely at the Battle of the Cowshed. I saw him myself. Did we not give him 'Animal Hero, First Class, 'immediately afterward'" (Orwell, pg.

Snowball is a hard worker who is creative and passionate about ideas. He is a positive influence on the farm and he cares for all the animals. For
example in the book, it says, "Snowball read it aloud for the benefit of the others" (19). Snowball was an honorable and kind pig, who believed in
the promising farm. He was not only great with the people but a fantastic military strategist. He led the battle of cowshed and if it wasn't for him
the surely would have lost. Snowball was also intelligent, he was independent and taught himself "to read and write from an old spelling book" (18).

passionately about the animals about the paradise the windmill will create," (35). Snowball's passion for the animals allowed him to be vulnerable to
Napoleon and his sinister plots. Snowball dove into his work which made him blind to what Napoleon's real actions were. Snowball was sometimes

George Orwell, writer of the book Animal Farm captures important aspects of the Russian Revolution and portrays them in a humorous and more
understandable way. Each animal represents an important person or event that happened during this time. Snowball is a pig that lives on Mr. Jones

revolutionist, Leon Trotsky. Snowball was modeled after him, showing most of his character trails and interest. Most of the people and events that

Examples Of Phenomenology
This shall be a qualitative participatory research approach which will be informed by Phenomenology theory methodology. Phenomenology will be
used to explore the day–to–day lived experience with hydro energy by key providers, consumers and energy policy makers. The researcher sought to
uncover the essences, interpret, and describe the meaning of this relationship of energy providers and consumers.
Rationale
Hermeneutic phenomenology is a method used to describe, interpret, and understand lived experience in an effort to discover meaning rather than to
explain and predict (Morse, 1991). The phenomenological research method is a "systematic, explicit, self–critical, and intersubjective study of its
subject matter, of lived experience" (van Manen, 1990, p. 11). Phenomenology is a way to investigate subjective phenomena, and is based on the
belief that essential truths about reality are grounded in everyday experience (Spiegelberg, 1975; van Manen, 1984, 1990). Because phenomenology
examines the meaning that lived experience has in people's lives, it is a valuable research method in sustainable energy.

Persuasive Essay About Snow Day
Damascus, Maryland usually gets 2 days of snow if not less per year. Which is why it's essential for every kid living in Montgomery County to
make the best of their snow day when it actually comes. Snow days are very enjoyable for every kid, but it is sometimes difficult to find what you're
going to do. When you first wake up, make sure it's early. Before you play in the snow, you have to celebrate because, no school! You want the first of
the snow because once people have already walked all over the experience isn't as good. After you've embraced the fresh snow, get the neighbors. Ask
them to come outside so that you can have an even better snow day with awesome snowball fights. The more neighbors you have, the better the day.
It's always nice to have a hot drink when you come in from the cold and hot chocolate is perfect. So, ask your parents if they can make some hot
chocolate that will be ready as soon as you come in from your snow day. I always make sure that they put a ton of marshmallows in mine, so that the
hot chocolate will be ten times better. A competitivesnowball fight is the typical snow day activity. Don't do the fight late in the day because you
won't have any more energy. Which is why you should do the fight at the beginning of the day. First, make the teams, but make sure they are evenly
separated. Sometimes it is even fun to get everyone to gang up on one person. If you're not that person. Next, build snow forts. These forts are good
for more protection during the snowball fight. You need to make sure the fort is sturdy with no cracks and no visible grass, so sleds are helpful for
support. Another helpful tactic when getting prepared for a snowball fight is to make a supply of snowballs. This is helpful if you are getting
annihilated by the other team; you'll have back–up so that you don't lose. Make sure that the other team doesn't steal your snowballs though. It's also
fun to just make forts not just for snowball fights but for sitting in. Go to where your parents have shoveled the snow from the driveway and start
digging into it. You have to make sure this fort has a lot of support! If you crawl into it and it collapses it can be very dangerous. Another idea of

Zero Tolerance Policies Should Not Be Banned
In recent years, people everywhere have started to question and criticize zero tolerance policies. People are beginning to realize that zero tolerance
policies (as strict as those practiced now) do not belong in universities or colleges. Students do not benefit from these policies and are often hurt by
them. This happens through students being punished for minuscule acts, disproportional punishments, and the schools' obliviousness to the plethora of
other less abrasive options available. With these harsh zero tolerance policies in place stories like that of Nathan Entingh, a ten–year–old at Devonshire
Alternative Elementary School, have become popularized in social media. Entingh was as at school when officials suspended him for his hand being
in the shape of a gun. The school officials declared his hand a "level 2 lookalike gun" and proceeded with their decision to suspend the 10 year–old
(Jonsson). This response by the school officials is not uncommon for schools with zero tolerance policies. Although the 10 year–old was purely
participating in imaginative games, he was met with real–life consequences. This level of overreaction does not have place in a college, an environment
in which students are treated as adults. If college students are treated as adults then they should not have to endure over–policing that is even too strict
for young children. Another story quite like that of Nathan Entingh's is the story of a Maryland student who was suspended for chewing his

Every leader has a different style of leadership. Some leaders have just slightly different styles while others have drastically different leadership styles.
Napoleon and Snowball, two of the main characters in George Orwell's Animal Farm, are no exception. There are several differences between
Snowball's and Napoleon's leadership styles. Initially, Snowball and Napoleon have somewhat of a joint leadership. For the first few chapters, they
manage to work together to run the farm. However, it only takes a little while before these two start to have their first major disagreements which
leads to tension and conflict between them. As the story keeps progressing, the reader is able to glimpse more and more differences between the two

Snowball is willing to work side by side with the other animals in order to improve the farm and life in general. Napoleon on the other hand, has
important 'mental work' that does not require hard labor to complete. While Snowball is still on the farm he attempts to educate himself by
reading books. Once Napoleon has full power, he does the opposite of this. He begins to throw parties at the house, sleep much later than the rest
of the animals, and drink. He does not make any attempt to better himself. Another instance where Snowball and Napoleon's differences are
showcased, is during the battle of the cowshed. Snowball takes the time to plan for himself a battle strategy and then instructs the animals what to
do. He is also willing to be right in the middle of the action and charging forward at the front of the line, to the point of risking his life and being
injured. Napoleon on the other hand is not mentioned during this battle. Snowball was willing to put in the hard work and effort to win the favor of
the animals, and it was working, until Napoleon had him chased off of the farm. Napoleon did not want to have to work very hard for the admiration

How Is Snowball A Tyrant
From Friend to Foe
A good and powerful leader is one who governs his country by the ways of the people. Snowball and Napoleon both ruled Animal Farm after Old
Major died, but both ruled differently. Snowball is a calm leader and has more control over the animals because of his assuring speeches and
trustworthy heart. By taking advantage of the pigs and dogs, Napoleon can get what he wants making him a stern tyrant. ;)
It is easier to become more powerful with help from others. One of the animals who is agreeing with Napoleon, causing him to rise, is Squealer. He
knows that they are both pigs and the pigs are superior over the animals on the farm. "...He was a brilliant talker, and when he was arguing some

The dogs were puppies when Snowball was still around. Now they have been transformed into vicious, throat–ripping killers. On a Sunday in the barn,
Snowball was giving an informing meeting telling the animals how they could survive what was coming up next. Napoleon had been training the
puppies many months before and had them ready for combat. "At this there was a terrible baying sound outside, and nine enormous dogs wearing
brass–studded collars came bounding into the barn. They dashed straight for Snowball, who only sprang from his place just in time to escape their
snapping jaws." ( Orwell 48 .) After this wild goose chase, no one ever saw him again. The dogs had chased him away so that Napoleon could rule
the lands. After many months, Napoleon kept changing the commandments. He came up with a set of regulations and told the animals whatever
crimes they have done they must come up and confess. "They were the same four pigs as had protested when Napoleon abolished Sunday Meetings.
...When they had finished their confession, the dogs promptly tore their throats out, and in a terrible voice Napoleon demanded whether any animal
had anything to confess." ( Orwell 75 .) Napoleon's demands only made more and more animals confess. Many animals died that day and following
days after. The brutal rule of Napoleon has caused multiple fatalities as a result of tyranny. The dogs were taken advantage of, not knowing they were
trapped in Napoleon's wickedness.
To conclude, one can tell that all Napoleon wanted was power. He used Squealer and the malicious dogs to force the animals to believe that Napoleon
was their rightful leader all along. Napoleon went against Old Major's first ideas of Animalism. He was very hypocritical, using the animals faint
memories of the past to continue dictating. By using Squealer and his guard dogs to come into power, over time Napoleon became an unjust

Napoleon And Snowball
The struggle for political dominance between two leaders, Napoleon and Snowball, has led to various conflicts and violence . George Orwell's
Animal Farm is a novel that reflects the Russian Revolution and the leadership of Stalin. The pigs in the novel represent the communist leadership
while the other animals symbolize the different groups of citizens during these events. The two main characters, Napoleon and Snowball, engage in
a struggle for political dominance over the farm. Napoleon and Snowball are two leaders with different personalities, goals, and strategies. The two
use various propaganda techniques to achieve their individual goals. Napoleon and Snowball are on two opposite ends of the spectrum in
comparison to character. Snowball is viewed as an intelligent and friendly character, while Napoleon is portrayed as brutal and corrupt. During the
Battle of the Cowshed, Snowball "Dashed straight for Jones" and continues to fight as "the pellets scored bloody streaks along Snowball's back"
(Orwell 41). In this event, Snowball demonstrates his bravery and strong leadership. During the Battle of the Windmill, Napoleon "Was directing
operations from the rear" (103). This signifies his cowardliness and weak leadership. Snowball is a courageous, strong leader, while Napoleon is

JFK. John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Almost every adult, teen, and child knows who he is. He has inspired millions of people because of his speeches
and attitude. When you hear him, whether it is from other people, or recordings or his words, his eloquence and a sense of compassion has driven
people to be the greatest person they can be. He inspires people all over the country and he is a true leader. The Animal Farm byGeorge Orwell shows
the opposing sides to leadership. One side is assertive but opinionated and manipulative while the other is compassionate, intelligent, and shows
eloquence. The characters Snowball and Napoleon are the two characters that highlight this feature. While Napoleon is an assertive, opinionated leader;
Snowball's eloquence and compassion make him a commander whose leadership skills far exceeds Napoleon's.
Napoleon has shown his assertiveness through his actions when it comes to taking control of the farm. Since the pigs were naturally regarded as
hierarchical figures at the farm, Napoleon uses his given position of authority as a launch–pad for his reign. A few weeks after Jones fled the farm,
Bluebell gave birth to her litter, "Napoleon took them away from their mother, saying that he would make himself responsible for their education,"

The Day Of The Kitchen

  • 1. The Day Of The Kitchen When Sheamus walked into the classroom several weeks later, he realized that everyone was acting strangely, especially Ms. McMahon. "Sheamus," she asked sweetly, "Would you mind doing something very important for me?" "Okay," Sheamus replied. "What is it?" "I need you to go down to the kitchen and see if the cooks need any help," Ms. McMahon said. "But," Sheamus protested, "The cooks don't like us." "Don't worry about that," Ms. McMahon pointed out dismissively. "They really need help," she insisted. "Whatever you say, Ms. McMahon," Sheamus responded with a shrug. He disappeared through the door, heading for the kitchen. Shawn waited a few seconds and then stood up on his chair. He looked around and exclaimed, "Alright guys,... "The cooks weren't down there, Ms. McMahon," he began to explain. He suddenly took note of the decorations haphazardly set up across the room. "What's going on here?" he asked suspiciously. "You didn't forget, did you?" Punk questioned. "It's your birthday." "Happy birthday!" the class cried joyously. "Of course I didn't forget," Sheamus retorted, grinning happily. "Just wasn't expecting this, that's all." "Well, since we didn't get to jump out and yell 'surprise'," Shawn said, "Maybe we could bring out the radio again." He turned and looked hopefully at the teacher. "Fine," Ms. McMahon sighed, sounding defeated. "You may use the radio." With a collective cheer, the children dragged the radio out of its place in the closet and commenced the party. ***** Some time afterwards, the bell rang for recess and the children scrambled outside into the snow. At Sheamus's request, it was quickly decided that they would have an all–out snowball war. Teams were hastily selected and bases speedily built. The small Kindergarten armies squatted behind monstrous mounds of snow and secretively plotted war strategies. Finally, the time came to strike. Everyone rushed out onto the battlefield, seemingly forgetting all notions of their previous planning. Snow flew in all directions, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Her family had lots of money so she would get everything she wanted. You don't understand me, you never have!" "C'mon sis! You don't have to do this during our 13th annual ski vacation. We won't see each other until I go to college. Wow, when we did the first one you three. I can't believe it, the first time was December 12th 2002." "I don't care about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Snowball Intellectual Intellectual, pro–education, and vivacious. Three words is all it takes to describe a character who literally has much character. Snowball, one of the three pigs that are leading Animal Farm, is all about spreading education to the rest of the animals on the farm. Co–leader, Napolean, and Snowball work together and put two important parts into place. Napolean being the muscle, and Snowball being the brain. This character is smart, and wants to make sure everyone surrounding him will build skill as well. For example, having critically studied every inch in the farm and the new Commandments, it is more than accurate to call Snowball intellectual. Snowball also works very hard to make sure he andvances in his knowledge. As stated by the author,"Snowball...quicker in speech and more inventive...". The intellect possesed by Snowball gave his character an advanced way of response. "Then Snowball (for it was Snowball who was best at writing) took a brush between teh tow knuckles of his trotter, painted out MANOR FARM from the top bar of the gate and in its place painted ANIMAL FARM.", Snowball is recognized as the pig in the farm that best new and understood the subjects that he set himself out to learn. • 4. Short Story Of A Pumpkin Have you ever had a situation where you think telling the truth will get you in trouble, however lying or not saying anything would possibly make the situation worse? Then you're faced with the decision of telling the truth, or keeping quiet and awaiting the results. This is the story of how I learned to always be honest. It was a snowy, January afternoon several years ago when my brother and I were playing in the snow at my grandparent's house. I was digging in a massive mountain of snow. I was trying to make a snow bunker for a later planned snowball fight against my big brother. When through the white cascade, I saw a small speck of orange in the sea of white. To my surprise, I dug up a miniature pumpkin that had been withered by the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was still holding the pumpkin in my hand, and I noted the diameter of the pipe and the size of my pumpkin appeared to be very similar. A quick thought came to my mind," I wonder how well they fit together?" and I let curiosity get the best of me. I wiggled the pumpkin into the pipe. It was almost an airtight fit. Then I reached my hand back into it to pull the pumpkin out, and it just pushed the pumpkin farther back into the pipe. The stubborn pumpkin wouldn't come out! I panicked for what seemed like an eternity, thinking about what kinds of punishments I would receive if someone found out. But if nobody found out, I wouldn't have to face any punishments. So, I decided that I wouldn't tell anyone about what had just happened. After it got dark I met back up with my brother who was over by the big hill in the back of the yard. We walked back over to the house talking about the forts that we made and how many snowballs we were getting ready. Then he asked,"Did you find any pumpkins in the snow?" I Knew he discovered what I did, but I thought that I should just play dumb. I said, "No pumpkins at all. Why would you think that I found any pumpkins? "He said right back," I ... • 5. Snowball Earth Hypothesis Evidence suggests that 635 million years ago a glacial period occurred, as a result the planet became what scientists call a Snowball Earth. According to the geological and paleontological evidence gained from iron formation, paleomagnetism, and cap carbonates, the globe went through a period of glaciation. The original theory Snowball Earth, proposed that the globe was once covered entirely with ice or snow from poles to the equator. As most of the continental mass was near the equator there was a heightened silicate weathering that resulted in "higher equatorial albedo" and carbon–dioxide "drawdown" which led to global cooling and sea ice expansion (1, 3). On the contrary, another theory promotes Slushball Earth, it was proposed as some scientists were resistant to the fact that everything was frozen. As that would be too extreme for the survival of eukaryotes and could not justify the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They found glacial sediments to be situated at low latitudes, a "distributed repartition of glacial deposits from low to high latitudes", strongly supports the existence of a global Neoproterozoic glaciation (5). The main concern still remains to be the survival of life and a study suggests that prokaryotes like bacteria do not require oxygen to survive and they tend to live in hydrothermal vents. Yet, the photosynthetic organisms cannot survive but cracks in the ice during the event would allow photosynthesizers to persist and produce trace amounts of oxygen that could be used by eukaryotes (6). To sum up, Snowball Earth is the most accepted theory to explain the glacial period. The hypothesis is supported by cap carbonates, BIFs, and paleomagnetism. However, more strong evidence is required to fully support it and thus the research is still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Snowball And Trotsky Dillavou 1 Luke Dillavou Mr. Mahoney English Language Arts 10 23 April 2015 The Similarities Between Leon Trotsky and Snowball in Animal Farm As Leon Trotsky once said, "From being a patriotic myth, the Russian people have become an awful reality." and the reality of Animal Farm by George Orwell is that the character Snowball is a direct representation of Leon Trotsky in the Russian Revolution. Three questions I will be addressing are first, What are some parallels we find between Leon Trotsky and Snowball, How does Trotsky's success resemble Snowballs success, and How is Trotskys fate the same as Snowballs. Over seven years he was pushed farther and farther away into different countries until he arrived in Mexico. A little while after he arrived, Stalin planned to have Trotsky assassinated. • 7. Snowball Methods To investigate how brokers accessed and activated social capital, we drew on data from a larger study of mathematics and science professional development in a major metropolitan region in the Western United States. The larger study used interviews and surveys to map the advice and collaboration networks of professional development providers in the two subjects. For the current study, we used data on the advice network of professional development providers in mathematics.[1] We chose the mathematics network because the state in which the study was conducted had already adopted and begun implementing the Common Core Standards in mathematics. The second author, along with a team of research assistants, collected the interview data for the study. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We chose to do this due to time and resource constraints, as the second wave of interviews added an additional 86 names to the list. Using a survey also allowed us to give the first– and second–wave participants an opportunity to see the fully appended list. Participants in the first wave only saw the names on the wave one list, while the second–wave participants only saw the names on the wave two list. We send the list to all participants in the first two rounds, along with the newly added names for wave three (Wave 3, n = 101). The surveys mirrored the third part of the interview. Participants saw a list of names and indicated who they went to for collaboration or advice. For each name selected, they were asked the reason for collaboration and/or advice seeking. We created the list of reasons through inductive coding of the first two rounds of interviews. We generated eight possible reasons: It's our job, Expertise, Reputation, Proximity, Prior professional relationship, Good to work with, Similar beliefs, and Other. As before, the survey solicited additional names from participants, which were added for a hypothetical fourth round. At this point, we conclude the snowball process. The overall response rate for the survey was 79%. Critical to this study is the multi–organizational nature of the network. • 8. Snowball Essay The purpose of this essay is to analyse a skill and its subroutine in European handball. This game is played with two teams both made up up 7 players including the goaly, and the shoooting player can not step into the goly area. Skilled performers in handball have a highly developed information processing capaciting. There are 3 stages of learning, Cognitive, Associative, and Autonomous stage. A motorskill is a sequence of movements that are learnt through practice and have a definite outcome. The shooting and jump shot movement is used in European handball to get into the goal and have less room to shoot the ball. an advantage of this skill is to gain more ground. an disadvantage of this is your unstable in the air and when shooting you can have poorer aiming. To use the shooting with jump shot technique; you take a 2–3 step approach, then you tuen 90 degrees, flex and bend your knees, launch and jump into the air while extending your throwing arm bac, shot the ball brining your elbow trough first, release the ball, follow through. • 9. Cold War-Personal Narrative Time itself was frozen. Yesterday was cold, but not like this. Now, it is almost zero. I stepped across the carpeted floor as the support wood creaked under thermal contraction. The staircase shivered as I descended. No one was there except for an old wooden table and a fork. Slowly sliding across the frozen floor, I navigate the dark maze of hallways that is my first floor. I grab my ski jacket, put on my boots and slide outside without a sound. No one is anywhere, and as far as my family is concerned, I am still asleep. I begin to work at creating my arsenal. I mobilize for a total war. Scoop, Pack, Place. Scoop, Pack, Place. I build a mountain higher and higher with these frozen missiles. With fifteen of the highest quality WMD's (Weapons of Mildly Uncomfortable Frozen Destruction), I grab a tarp and cover up my weapons stash. When freed from the prison of modern air–control systems, we went back out to expand our ball. We were the Prince and as the King of All Cosmos commanded, we rolled the white world into our Katamari. Our neighbors came outside and helped us push the now very heavy ball as well. • 10. Snowball Short Story One day, in 4th grade during winter time, me and my friends were playing in the snow. Me and my friends were athletic, so we spent a lot of time outside. The air was biting at our noses, and snowmen with orange noses and piles of snowballs behind snow walls littered the area. Snowballs zoomed across the yard, occasionally decapitating a snowman, or exploding on someone's jacket. I threw my hardest snowball, aimed directly for someone's back. As he reached down to get another snowball, the snowball kept going. My snowball had shattered a window. Everyone quickly dispersed and ran to the end of the street, and met up. I was nervous and embarrassed. "You almost hit me with that!" My friend exclaimed. "I'm sorry, but please don't say anything," I pleaded, "The snowball will melt, and our parents won't know what happened." "This isn't gonna work, you're going to get us in trouble." My friend retorted. "Nobody's gonna find out." I repeated. After a day or two, my parents had heard that our neighbor's window had broken. They asked me if I had heard anything about it, but I simply said no. When I got to school, my friends continued to urge me to confess, but I would not budge. Another couple of days passed, and me and my friends were hanging out again. This time our parents were there and seemed angry. They knew where we were when the window broke, and so they knew one of us had broken it, but they didn't know who. Everyone glanced at me, but I still did not talk. This went ... The two brothers walked back to their tiny little cave home. Icicle smiled as he walked. Even though his feet were sore he jumped around gleefully. Icicle was only one year younger than Snowball but, he was very tiny compared to his big brother. Snowball always teased him about his size or anything really. Icicle always ignored these comments. That night, after a long day of teasing, Icicle dreamed that that he was given food and had a wonderful home where everyone loved him. He saw a sign that said ZOO. He wanted to go there, be there, live there. Then he woke up. "Great. I woke up," said Icicle. "Of course you woke up," said Snowball, "You will always wake up." "We need to move." "WHAT?" Snowball is first portrayed as a philanthropic or patriotic leader, but as the book progresses Napoleon and Squealer degrade his reputation to make themselves look better and to have a reason for bad things or a common hate. When Snowball is driven out of the farm, Napoleon and Squealer get right to work to fog the other animal's memory of the good things he did. At the beginning of the book, Snowball's feats were celebrated and his ideas praised. Right after Jones and his men failed to win the farm back, Snowball was given a medal to honor his heroics, Orwell wrote, "The animals decided ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the animals think that Napoleon's leadership and decisions are beneficial for the farm and Napoleon has their trust, the animals don't think they have any reason to not trust him. • 17. Snowball Character Analysis As George Lucas says "Power Corrupts, and when you're in charge, you start doing things that you think are right, but they're actually not". It is right to assume snowball would have been just as ruthless as Napoleon when put in a state of power and leadership, as it states in the quote above when you're in charge you do things wrong even if you think they are right. There are many different reasons why Snowball would have been just as ruthless a leader as Napoleon when put in a state of power these are, gaining access to luxuries not wanted to be shared with the other animals, Higher intelligence of the pigs making them natural leaders and even though all the animals were "equal" some species naturally gain power over others. Snowball would have been just as Ruthless of a leader as Napoleon when put in a state of power and leadership is that having power over the whole farm the Pigs had access to luxuries that they could stop the other Animals from Having. As the pigs become the leaders of the farm they start to gain access to Luxuries like access to beds and sleeping in the farmhouse, to cover this up squealer says that it is ok for animals to sleep in beds as long as they do not have sheets as they are a human invention. All leaders always gain luxuries over the other people they control, this leads them to becoming corrupt by hiding these luxuries from their fellow species as you see the pigs greedily do in animal farm and then covering it with excuses from a ... • 25. Snowball Research Paper The One and Only, Snowball! George Orwell's, Animal Farm begs the question: who is the more effective leader: Snowball or Napoleon? This allegorical novella reflects events leading up to the Russian Revolution and into the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union. This book is about the animals of Animal Farm who rebel against man and try to live on and run the farm themselves. The pigs of the farm are the most intelligent among the animals; the boars, Snowball and Napoleon fight for a more powerful spot to lead Animal Farm. Snowball is the most effective leader because he cared more about the other animals than Napoleon. To begin with, Snowball was the most effective leader because he had a loving heart for the animals on the farm. An example from Animal Farm was when, "In the autumn, by a tremendous, exhausting effort, for the harvest had to be gathered at almost the same time–the windmill was finished" (29). This example revealed that after 2 years of hard labour for the animals, Napoleon congratulated the animals on their achievement of building the windmill. However, the idea of the windmill came from Snowball's knowledge. An example in the book that gave Snowball credit for his work was when, "Snowball declared that this was just the place for a windmill...The mechanical details came mostly from three books which had belonged to Mr. Jones One Thousand Useful Things to Do About the House, Every Man His Own Bricklayer, and Electricity For Beginners" (15). • 33. Persuasive Essay About Snow Day Damascus, Maryland usually gets 2 days of snow if not less per year. Which is why it's essential for every kid living in Montgomery County to make the best of their snow day when it actually comes. Snow days are very enjoyable for every kid, but it is sometimes difficult to find what you're going to do. When you first wake up, make sure it's early. Before you play in the snow, you have to celebrate because, no school! You want the first of the snow because once people have already walked all over the experience isn't as good. After you've embraced the fresh snow, get the neighbors. Ask them to come outside so that you can have an even better snow day with awesome snowball fights. The more neighbors you have, the better the day. It's always nice to have a hot drink when you come in from the cold and hot chocolate is perfect. So, ask your parents if they can make some hot chocolate that will be ready as soon as you come in from your snow day. I always make sure that they put a ton of marshmallows in mine, so that the hot chocolate will be ten times better. A competitivesnowball fight is the typical snow day activity. Don't do the fight late in the day because you won't have any more energy. Which is why you should do the fight at the beginning of the day. First, make the teams, but make sure they are evenly separated. Sometimes it is even fun to get everyone to gang up on one person. If you're not that person. Next, build snow forts. These forts are good for more protection during the snowball fight. You need to make sure the fort is sturdy with no cracks and no visible grass, so sleds are helpful for support. Another helpful tactic when getting prepared for a snowball fight is to make a supply of snowballs. This is helpful if you are getting annihilated by the other team; you'll have back–up so that you don't lose. Make sure that the other team doesn't steal your snowballs though. It's also fun to just make forts not just for snowball fights but for sitting in. Go to where your parents have shoveled the snow from the driveway and start digging into it. You have to make sure this fort has a lot of support! If you crawl into it and it collapses it can be very dangerous. Another idea of where to build a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Zero Tolerance Policies Should Not Be Banned In recent years, people everywhere have started to question and criticize zero tolerance policies. People are beginning to realize that zero tolerance policies (as strict as those practiced now) do not belong in universities or colleges. Students do not benefit from these policies and are often hurt by them. This happens through students being punished for minuscule acts, disproportional punishments, and the schools' obliviousness to the plethora of other less abrasive options available. With these harsh zero tolerance policies in place stories like that of Nathan Entingh, a ten–year–old at Devonshire Alternative Elementary School, have become popularized in social media. Entingh was as at school when officials suspended him for his hand being in the shape of a gun. The school officials declared his hand a "level 2 lookalike gun" and proceeded with their decision to suspend the 10 year–old (Jonsson). This response by the school officials is not uncommon for schools with zero tolerance policies. Although the 10 year–old was purely participating in imaginative games, he was met with real–life consequences. This level of overreaction does not have place in a college, an environment in which students are treated as adults. If college students are treated as adults then they should not have to endure over–policing that is even too strict for young children. Snowball is willing to work side by side with the other animals in order to improve the farm and life in general. Napoleon on the other hand, has important 'mental work' that does not require hard labor to complete. While Snowball is still on the farm he attempts to educate himself by reading books. Once Napoleon has full power, he does the opposite of this. He begins to throw parties at the house, sleep much later than the rest of the animals, and drink. He does not make any attempt to better himself. Another instance where Snowball and Napoleon's differences are showcased, is during the battle of the cowshed. Snowball takes the time to plan for himself a battle strategy and then instructs the animals what to do. He is also willing to be right in the middle of the action and charging forward at the front of the line, to the point of risking his life and being injured. Napoleon on the other hand is not mentioned during this battle. Snowball was willing to put in the hard work and effort to win the favor of the animals, and it was working, until Napoleon had him chased off of the farm. • 37. How Is Snowball A Tyrant From Friend to Foe A good and powerful leader is one who governs his country by the ways of the people. Snowball and Napoleon both ruled Animal Farm after Old Major died, but both ruled differently. Snowball is a calm leader and has more control over the animals because of his assuring speeches and trustworthy heart. By taking advantage of the pigs and dogs, Napoleon can get what he wants making him a stern tyrant. ;) It is easier to become more powerful with help from others. One of the animals who is agreeing with Napoleon, causing him to rise, is Squealer. He knows that they are both pigs and the pigs are superior over the animals on the farm. Now they have been transformed into vicious, throat–ripping killers. On a Sunday in the barn, Snowball was giving an informing meeting telling the animals how they could survive what was coming up next. Napoleon had been training the puppies many months before and had them ready for combat. "At this there was a terrible baying sound outside, and nine enormous dogs wearing brass–studded collars came bounding into the barn. They dashed straight for Snowball, who only sprang from his place just in time to escape their snapping jaws." ( Orwell 48 .) After this wild goose chase, no one ever saw him again. The dogs had chased him away so that Napoleon could rule the lands. After many months, Napoleon kept changing the commandments. He came up with a set of regulations and told the animals whatever crimes they have done they must come up and confess. "They were the same four pigs as had protested when Napoleon abolished Sunday Meetings. ...When they had finished their confession, the dogs promptly tore their throats out, and in a terrible voice Napoleon demanded whether any animal had anything to confess." ( Orwell 75 .) Napoleon's demands only made more and more animals confess. Many animals died that day and following days after. The brutal rule of Napoleon has caused multiple fatalities as a result of tyranny. The dogs were taken advantage of, not knowing they were trapped in Napoleon's wickedness. To conclude, one can tell that all Napoleon wanted was power. He used Squealer and the malicious dogs to force the animals to believe that Napoleon was their rightful leader all along. Napoleon went against Old Major's first ideas of Animalism. He was very hypocritical, using the animals faint memories of the past to continue dictating. • 39. Personal Narrative: A Day Without Making A Snowman When I woke up on Saturday morning, I looked outside the window and I saw that it had snowed. I had no clue that I was going to have big plans for the snow. I was about twelve years old when I had an amazing snow day. When these big plans for snow happened, I was in the same house that I am currently in which is in Alexandria. Since I had a house I had a lot of land to sled on. I woke up and put my 2 layers of clothes on and put my snow boots on. I was already. The only thing I had to do was wait for my sister to get up and get ready. My sister and I headed outside to find the perfect hill to slide down. Then my sister and I went sledding down the big hill that we had on the property. You can not play in the snow without making a snowman. First we would grab a lot snow, put a lot of snow together to make the bottom, middle, and the top which is the head. After we do that we try to put a scarf around it. Then we added everything else that a snowman needs. When we got bored of that, we decided to have a snowball fight. We built a fort out of snow to protect us from the snow. It's kind of like that SpongeBob episode where SpongeBob and Patrick have a snowball fight in front of their houses. After we have all that fun building forts, snowmen, and going sledding. We decided it was time to go inside for the night and warm up. George Orwell's Animal Farm is a novel that reflects the Russian Revolution and the leadership of Stalin. The pigs in the novel represent the communist leadership while the other animals symbolize the different groups of citizens during these events. The two main characters, Napoleon and Snowball, engage in a struggle for political dominance over the farm. Napoleon and Snowball are two leaders with different personalities, goals, and strategies. The two use various propaganda techniques to achieve their individual goals. Napoleon and Snowball are on two opposite ends of the spectrum in comparison to character. Snowball is viewed as an intelligent and friendly character, while Napoleon is portrayed as brutal and corrupt. During the Battle of the Cowshed, Snowball "Dashed straight for Jones" and continues to fight as "the pellets scored bloody streaks along Snowball's back" (Orwell 41). In this event, Snowball demonstrates his bravery and strong leadership. During the Battle of the Windmill, Napoleon "Was directing operations from the rear" (103). When you hear him, whether it is from other people, or recordings or his words, his eloquence and a sense of compassion has driven people to be the greatest person they can be. He inspires people all over the country and he is a true leader. The Animal Farm byGeorge Orwell shows the opposing sides to leadership. One side is assertive but opinionated and manipulative while the other is compassionate, intelligent, and shows eloquence. The characters Snowball and Napoleon are the two characters that highlight this feature. While Napoleon is an assertive, opinionated leader; Snowball's eloquence and compassion make him a commander whose leadership skills far exceeds Napoleon's. Napoleon has shown his assertiveness through his actions when it comes to taking control of the farm. Since the pigs were naturally regarded as hierarchical figures at the farm, Napoleon uses his given position of authority as a launch–pad for his reign. A few weeks after Jones fled the farm, Bluebell gave birth to her litter, "Napoleon took them away from their mother, saying that he would make himself responsible for their education," (Hardback 26–30). The confidence he showed in his decision to take in and educate the puppies proved that he is self–assured in his decisions made regarding the farm. This decision did not only affect the present and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
