2. Briefing:
My idea was to recreate a transfer scene from
an Russian Mafia transfer. Someone would
enter the library with a suitcase full of money,
only for it to open and spill all over the floor.
This would create a shot/reverse shot that
would show the facial emotions of the Main
actor as well as the people around him.
3. Location:
The location of which we would film is simple,
yet effective. I feel that by using the library,
people would be completely unaware of what
was going on around them, yet we would have
already of told the teachers what’s going on.
4. Emily’s idea.
A lone gangster (Luc) walks through a dark and narrow corridor, briefcase in hand with a stern facial expression, almost like he
was put up to the task. The corridor is bland, nothing interesting on the wall. The gangster continues to walk on until he
approaches a set of heavy looking double doors, he takes one big, deep breath before pushing the doors open with his
shoulder, avoiding all contact with the door handle. The doors open, match on action is shown as he walks into the doors and
then we see him coming through the doors. A big open room is inside, which is a library, there are a few faces (extras) sitting
around the library and look at him as he enters the door, with confused faces.
He strolls through the library across the room, and sees in the far corner of the room, three other gangsters dressed all in
black suits and sunglasses on, staring at him. One of the gangsters is sitting down on a chair (Adam), as the other two are
standing beside him, one either side, almost like bodyguards. We see a clip of the gangster sitting down, checking his watch
and tapping his fingers impatiently.
The man sitting down looks approachable and is smiling, he removes his sunglasses as the gangster approaches, and he stands
up and shakes his hand. They both sit down, opposite each other; they exchange dialogue in Russian, where the shot reverse
shot will take place. The lone gangster says: “Good Evening gentlemen’. To which the other replies “Evening,, lets get this
over and done with”. As this is happening, subtitles in English will appear on screen. The lone gangster slides his briefcase
across to the other men, as they do the same. During the exchange, one of the briefcases falls open. Quickly, the lone actor
makes a run for the door, only to get shot halfway across the room. Everyone in the library is in shock and distress and fall to
the ground with their hands over their heads, the 3 gangsters stroll past and out other door, The sequence the ends...
5. Katie’s Ideas
The opening scene is several different close up shots of the characters (Adam) shoes, briefcase and then a medium
shot from behind as he walks through a bland corridor very nervously. The character is in a black suit with shades on.
The character then reaches a set of double doors and pauses to compose himself before reaching out for the handle
and going in (this shot will show match on action as the character walks through the door). Whilst this is happening
there is the sound of a clock ticking in the background. When the character walks into a large room which appears to
be a library we will show the technique of cross cutting between the character (Adam) walking through the library
and two characters (Luc and another actor) sitting down also wearing black suits and shades. Luc keeps checking his
watch, to imply that they are waiting for someone. The initial character then reaches the other two characters and
cautiously sits down, the background noise of the clock ticking suddenly stops and there is a moment of complete
silence before the other character (Luc) begins to speak, after (Luc) asks for the briefcase gradually some dramatic
music starts to build up, as the character passes the briefcase over it loses balance and falls over so that the
briefcase opens revealing to the other two characters that in fact there is nothing in the briefcase (there should’ve
been money). The characters all stare at each other before the other character (Adam) tries to make a run for it,
but finds himself being shot by the other character (Luc).
6. Luc’s Idea
After having a big hangover, (Luc) runs for the library door, knowing he is ten minutes late for the exchange. Upon reaching
the library, he approaches a set of heavy looking double doors, he tucks in his shirt, takes a deep breath and pushes the doors
open with his shoulder avoiding all contact with the door handle. The doors open, The camera shows Adam walking through the
door, followed by another angle showing him come out. (This would show Match on Action).
After entering the room, the camera focuses on different faces. Luc needs to find his colleague, however he cannot find him.
Then, after about to leave, Adam spots a man sitting in a dark corner of the library, accompanied by bodyguards either side of
him.
After exchanging dialogue in Russian, The lone gangster says: “Have you got the money?”. To which the other replies “Only if
you have what I need…” As this is happening, subtitles in English will appear on screen. The lone gangster slides his briefcase
across to the other men, as they do the same. During the exchange, one of the briefcases falls open. Knowing he had been
caught, Luc makes a run for the door, only to get shot halfway across the room. Everyone in the library is in shock and distress
and fall to the ground with their hands over their heads, the 3 gangsters stroll past and out of the other door, The sequence
the ends...
