1. Fortune 500 Company
History
The Fortune 500 Company chosen for this paper is the Lockheed Martin Corporation. Lockheed Martin is a global securities and information
technology company headquartered in Bethesda, MD. Lockheed Martin employs roughly 126,000 people in several facilities throughout the world.
The company's main business is in research, design, development, manufacturing, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems,
products and services. Lockheed consists of four operating units, or business areas, which consist of Aeronautics, Electronic Systems, Information
Systems and Global Solutions, and Space Systems (LMC, 2011).

Though revenues have increased by 3.8 percent over the 2009 revenues of $45,189 million, Lockheed Martin's ranking has dropped from 44 in the
2010 Fortune 500 list (CNNMoney, 2011). So far in 2011, Lockheed Marin is positioned to have a great year. Its 2011 third quarter report shows net
sales at $12.1 billion, compared to the $11.3 billion in third quarter 2010. Continuing operations also grew 19 percent to $665 million, compared to
$557 million in 2010. The CEO, Bob Stevens, stated that this strong third quarter is the result of the company's focus to aggressively reduce costs
while still delivering value and support to its customers. Though there is still challenging global security and economic issues, Stevens expects
continued growth for 2012 (LMC, 2011).
Economic Forces
Lockheed Martin Corporation relies heavily on defense contracts from the U.S. Government. In fact, 84 percent of the company's net sales were made
through being a prime contractor or subcontractor for the U.S. Government. These sales come from both the Department of Defense (DoD) and
non–DoD agencies. The next largest area of revenue is from foreign governments that make up 15 percent of net sales. The remaining net sales come
from commercial or other customer sales. A slow economy could cause decline or reprioritization of funding for the U.S. defense budget. This is also

2. The Use of Polls to Analyze Public Opinion in Politics Essay
The Use of Polls to Analyze Public Opinion in Politics
Public opinion is defined in the text as "the distribution of the population's beliefs about politics and policy issues" (Edwards, Wattenberg, and
Lineberry 150). On paper, it sounds so simple; in reality it is much more difficult to determine. The most common method for ascertaining and
consolidating public opinion has been through the widespread use of polls. Their popularity has steadily increased over the years. One reason is that
they provide an accurate, reliable representation of the opinions of an entire population and supply decision–makers with valuable insight that may be
used to determine a future course of action. However, not all polls are created equal. Polls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without a randomly selected sample, the results can only be applied to the specific persons questioned (Blake 1). This is why results from polls that
allow self–selection, such as those found on the web, or in your mailbox, automatically demand a higher level of scrutiny and skepticism.
Wording and ordering of interview questions is another area that demands major attention. Words, terms and phrases should be stated and ordered
in such a way as to create as little room for bias as possible, and should be presented, in full, with the polling results (Blake 2). Question wording has
been called the "biggest source of bias and error in data", and is therefore an aspect of polling that will always leave room for criticism (Gallup 4).
Occasional ill–wording of questions is tolerable, if not unavoidable, as long as it is not obviously meant to tilt the results or prompt a certain response.
However, it is not unheard of nor is it uncommon for such polling practices to occur. Some attempts to persuade are definitely more malicious in nature
than others. This is the subject of the article "When Push Comes to Poll", by Larry Sabato and Glenn Simpson. They outline several types of sneaky
polling practices. But, by far, Sabato and Simpson agree that "negative persuasive" polls are the worst! These polls target a specific

This notion is the core of James MacGregor Burns' classic definition of leadership as "leaders inducing followers to act for certain goals that represent
the values and the motivations–the wants and needs, the aspirations and expectations–of both leaders and followers." Successful leadership inspires the
members of the organization to embrace shared values and to move together toward shared objectives.4 Rowing a boat is sometimes offered as the
metaphor: if several individuals try to row a boat while out of sync and with each attempting to steer in a different direction, much energy will be
expended with little progress made. A successful leader (in the metaphor, the coxswain), however, inspires the rowers to stroke in sync in support of a
common direction, which will cause the boat to go farther and faster toward the desired destination.

growth of international business has gained momentum faster than previously recorded, outstripping domestic business (Daniels and Radebaugh,

French (Dupont, 1982); Mexicans (Fisher, 1980); Brazilians (Graham, 1983, 1985a); Middle Eastern Arabs (Muna, 1973; Wright, 1983); Chinese
(Graham and Lin, 1987; Pye, 1982; Shenkar and Ronen, 1987; Tung 1984) and Japanese (Graham, 1984; Tung, 1984; Van Zandt, 1970)). Despite the
rather rich literature pertaining to intra–cultural negotiation behaviours, there is little attention paid to inter–cultural or cross–cultural negotiation
behaviour (Adler and Graham, 1989; Mintu and Calantone, 1991). International sales negotiations that occur across national boundaries are
crosscultural (Adler, 1986), and a negotiation is cross–cultural "when the parties involved belong to different cultures and therefore do not share the
same ways of thinking, feeling and behaving" (Casse, 1981, p. 152). Such cultural differences prevalent in cross–cultural negotiations can affect the
process and its outcome (Hamner, 1980; Tse et al., 1988). Studies attempting a comparison of the various negotiation behaviours in different
countries (Adler, 1986; Adler et al., 1987; Burt, 1989; Cambell et al., 1988; Copeland and Griggs, 1985; Foster, 1992; Graham et al., 1988; Harnett
and Cummings, 1980; Hellweg et al., 1991; Herbig and Kramer, 1992; Weiss and Stripp, 1985) have mainly adopted an intra–cultural perspective and

James "Dutch" Kindelberger, a member of the National Aviation Hall of Fame, played a pivotal role in American aviation. Kindelberger was born
in Wheeling, West Virginia in 1895, 20 years before the first heavier than air flight by the Wright brothers. After attending only one year of high
school, Dutch dropped out to become a steel mill apprentice. After experiencing the brutal hard work of the steel mill, he decided to go back to
school learn drafting at Carnegie Institute of Technology, which would prove to be a useful skill in his future in avionics. Kindelberger first caught the
aviation fever after an ariel exhibition by the famous Lincoln Beachey in 1913. His flying fever led Dutch to become a pilot instructor in the Army

rocket–powered aircraft, laying a foundation for the United States "Space Race" with the USSR. Before his death in 1962 Kindelberger would see his
foundation put an American in space. Although serving as an instructor inWorld War I, most of Kindelberger's largest impacts came during the
inter–war years and World War II. While working as a mid
–tier draftsman and designer with the Martin Company, he helped with the design of the
illustrious Martin Bombers which were a series of superior bombers used towards the end of World War I. The Martin Bombers had new some never
before seen features such as closed cockpits, rotating guns and retractable landing gear as well as much more. The innovation in these planes changed
the standards for bombers at the time thus leading to other bomber designs being obsolete. Then, with his experience at Martin, Kindelberger was able
to move over to the Douglas Aircraft Company where his genius really began to shine through. With Douglas Kindelberger designed seventy one
models for both military and civil use. One of his greatest accomplishments was the creation timeless DC series. Kindelberger's great brain child, the
DC–2, would be outshined by other aircraft in the DC family, but it still paved the way for commercial airliners. The DC–2 was one of the first

13. Heroism In Hamlet
The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, often shortened to Hamlet, is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare at an uncertain date between 1599
and 1602. Set in the Kingdom of Denmark, the play dramatises the revenge Prince Hamlet is instructed to enact on his uncle Claudius. Claudius had
murdered his own brother, Hamlet's father King Hamlet, and subsequently seized the throne, marrying his deceased brother's widow, Hamlet's mother
Gertrude.
Hamlet is Shakespeare's longest play and among the most powerful and influential tragedies in English literature, with a story capable of "seemingly
endless retelling and adaptation by others." The play seems to have been one of Shakespeare's most popular works during his lifetime It has inspired
writers from Goethe and Dickens to Joyce and Murdoch, and has been described as "the world's most filmed story after Cinderella".
The story of Hamlet ultimately derives from the legend of Amleth, preserved by 13th–century chronicler Saxo Grammaticus in his Gesta Danorum, as
subsequently retold by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Written in Latin, it reflects classical Roman concepts of virtue and heroism, and was widely available in Shakespeare's day. Significant parallels
include the prince feigning madness, his mother's hasty marriage to the usurper, the prince killing a hidden spy, and the prince substituting the
execution of two retainers for his own. A reasonably faithful version of Saxo's story was translated into French in 1570 by François de Belleforest, in
his Histoires tragiques. Belleforest embellished Saxo's text substantially, almost doubling its length, and introduced the hero's

14. Essay about Capitalism and Socialism
You buy a house. You choose your job. You shop for the groceries and toys that your income allows you. We take these basics of American life for
granted, but these liberties are all because of capitalism. Capitalism is an economic system that enables consumers to determine which products will
be sold, lets firms decide how to produce them, and allows markets to guide who gets them. IN the United States, oil is an example of an industry that
is run by this principle. Life would be different, however, if the nation was socialist. Socialism is an economic theory that mandates that the governing
body, rather than the consumers and firms, control some of the firms on behalf of the community. For example, in Norway and even in capitalist Mexico

In addition, capitalism addresses the questions of what products to produce, how they will be produced, and who will receive the products. Firms
will make the goods and services that consumers are willing and able to buy; therefore, consumers determine the products. This is an effective
method, because in general people are rational; people respond to incentives; and optimal decisions are made at the margin (Hubbard, 2009). In turn,
firms decide how the goods and services are produced. Entrepreneurship allows for common people to operate businesses. An individual can produce
an idea, take the financial risk, and begin a business and start selling a good or service. A person's drive to succeed and natural response to incentives
encourage him or her to work. Businesses are guided by profits. Because natural monopolies do occur, a managed capitalistic economy like our own
provides for appropriate regulatory methods, but generally the goods are produced by a firm or firms with minimal government interference. Prices for
the products are set through competition of firms, by private enterprise, in which the market determines the price. Who, then, determines who gets the
final product? The government? In capitalism, markets determine who will receive the goods. Adam Smith developed this concept by naming it the
"invisible hand"–the guiding forces of self–interest, supply and demand, and competition to assisting the marketplace along on its own without

William E Boeing made a company that has changed the industry of plane making, but how much influence did William E. Boeing have ton the plane

expanding to the world's largest company, making the first wide–bodied plane, and going the distance in reinventing the company to rise above their
competitors.
In August 1915 William E.Boeing applied to the Glenn L. Martin School in Los Angeles. After he completed his courses he ordered a plane known
as Model TA from the Martin Factory to learn more about how planes are made. The Model TA inspired Boeing to construct aircrafts. He hired
twelve men and they began building the first Boeing plane. William E. Boeing combined a factory and a seaplane hangar by Lake Union and made
the first test flight of the first Boeing plane. His first airplane was a seaplane, and he sold several of them to the US Navy to use as pilot training jet

February 26, 2012 marked the day that the innocent minor, Trayvon Martin, was shot to his death in a gated neighborhood in Sanford, Florida. The
shooter, George Zimmerman, still has not faced any serious consequence for the murder. Many people in the Sanford community, and even around the

the justice system. With the consideration of Florida's state laws, this is a difficult case to foresee the outcome of George Zimmerman's conviction and

also showed up on the news claiming that there are medical reports that show that Martin had abused Zimmerman. (CNN?) As the investigation
progressed, phone calls made by witnesses were released. One phone call stood out from the others; in the background of the call, Martin's cry for

worker there. The pay was calculated by computer, based on both seniority and skill. Turner, of course, lost out on seniority, but he appeared not to
mind this. Robbins thought that it was probably because he felt lucky to even have a job.
The workshop opens at 8 am daily and the mechanics are assigned jobs by Robins. At 10:00 am there is an unofficial coffee–break where the entire
crew would go across the street for a cup of coffee. This is looked upon as a social gathering, where the men would get to know each other better.
Being an unofficial coffee–break, it is agreed that anyone who does not complete his first job by 10:00 am has to forego his coffee–break for the day.
Now, Turner seemed to constantly miss his coffee breaks. Although skilful, he was not as fast as either, Johnson, Kelly or Robbins. During his first
three weeks there, he only managed to attend one coffee–break.
By the end of the fourth week, trouble was brewing. Turner had become quite alienated and dissatisfied with his job. He tried to hurry through his
work so that he could make

26. Why Was Plane Manufacturing Important In Ww2
"When my brother and I built the first man–carrying flying machine we thought that we were introducing into the world an invention which would
make further wars practically impossible." Orville Wright, 1917. Sadly this was not the case. Over the span of World War II, because the
technology was so new and could work well, planes were used heavily and mercilessly and because of this, more than half a million people died or
were lost in combat. During the war, airplane manufacturing was important to both the Axis and Allied powers. Various types of planes were
produced during the war for their different abilities and uses. During the war, plane manufacturing was important to both the enemies and allies.
Most manufacturing plants were a main target for the enemies, and for the US, on missions. If the US could take out manufacturers it would slow
down the production of enemy planes and give us an advantage. In terms of America's own production rates, they skyrocketed in only 5 years. In
less than 5 years aircraft manufacturing went from 41st place in America industries to first place, because of the war. Shadow factories were a major
idea that arose, mainly in Britain, to be able to meet the urgent need for airplane parts. These factories were basically car factories, which helped make
airplane parts, and were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

| The Squeaky Horn| Assignment A| Company Overview
The Squeaky Horn is a musical instrument repair store which specialized in all major and minor repairs for band and orchestra instruments. Over the
past ten year, The Squeaky Horn has established a great customer relationship with the music professionals from all over the country, and has been
operated in a relatively less competitive environment as there were no many similar stores in the town. However, as the new store Best Instrument

Unless the price of music instruments become so cheap that an average music player can offer to pay a new one when they found problems with the
instruments, or the second hand market become so popular that the selling price of the instrument are enough for getting a new one, people will stick
on instrument repair.
If comparing The Squeaky Horn's operating result with the maintenance and repair industry's average (Appendix 7), we will find that The Squeaky
Horn's actual revenue of $664,170 is almost as twice as much of the industry average of $334,900. However, the total actual expense is $354,070
higher (calculation is provided at the end of Appendix 7), which results the overall profit fall below the industry average of $28,100 in 2008.
Therefore, The Squeaky Horn is an absolute industry leader in revenue sector, but did not do well in maintaining high profitability through expenditure
control.

The Pershing Missile System
Cold War Evolution
Introduction
In 1949, the continued presence of the United States Army in Europe was guaranteed by the formation of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization
(NATO) in order to prevent the expansion of the Soviet Union into Western Europe. NATO's goal was to provide mutual protection to any member
nation in the event it was attacked by an outside aggressor. The United States played a major role by providing the bulk of soldiers and weapons to
defend Europe as well to show it was interested in the recovery of Western Europe without the threat of Communism. In the years after World War II,
German scientists and engineers who had been responsible for the development of the German rocket program were gathered up by the United States
in order to both deny the USSR and allied nations from acquiring the advanced technologies and for the advancement of America's first missile
program. The result was the Army's Redstone missile, developed in the early 1950's. It would be the first missile to carry a nuclear warhead.
However, the Army's nuclear strategy shifted to that of a more mobile and rapid response delivery vehicle. The Redstone utilized liquid fuel, which
required it to be fueled just prior to launch, decreasing response time in a retaliatory or first strike scenario. With the advent of solid fueled rockets
that could be stored, ready to launch, the Redstone was rendered obsolete. The U.S. Army had already

Also, a succinct clarification about the setting in which it was written and will give an outlook of the backdrop of the chapter from a chronological
standpoint.
The second word of verse one pertains primarily with the authorship of the chapter. Historically, it has been recognized exclusively that Psalm 23 was
authored by David.2
The provenance of Psalm 23 may be estimated to have been written in the wilderness at the time of David's flight from Absalom.3 The time of the
authorship of Psalm 23 likely took place in the range from the monarchic to the Maccabean periods.4 While both the place and the time of the
instigation of Psalm 23 may be speculated, the backdrop is revealed upon within the chapter.
The setting may be determined by a crisis in the backdrop, as the first four verses can attest.5 Although we may not establish what the exact difficulty
is, an obvious problem is apparent expressly in verse 4.

Professor Hanshew
19 June 2015
Research Paper Technology in the early 20th century grew quickly and brought many changes to life both at home and in work. Automobiles, home
appliances, and entertainment changed how Americans spent their time and money. During the early to mid–20th century America went through an
economical depression, two wars, and recessions, this caused many Americans to go through stages of poverty, fear, and wealth. The advancement of
technology did not come without downfalls including pollution, debt, and change in moral beliefs. In 1903 the Ford Motor Company was founded in

Safety regulations were not originally in use when automobiles were first on the road which led to the invention of traffic lights, "cat's eyes," and
painting of lines in the road to assist drivers. Vehicles have come a long way since their introduction into American society and they continue to
change as newer technology grows. At the turn of the century many homes were cleaned by hand, food was prepared in stoves, and children played
in sitting rooms or outside. Technology allowed for changes to be made in the home over the course of just a few years with the introduction of
toasters, refrigerators, televisions, and vacuum cleaners. Cooking for the household became easier with the advancements of gas and eventually
electric ranges. Busch describes how the shift from gas range to electric range was beneficial as the units were smaller allowing more space in the
kitchen, there was better temperature control, and "oven heat control and exterior coolness since older gas ranges lacked oven thermostats and
insulation." Refrigerators had been around for years, but were large and took up much of the room in a kitchen. Isenstadt states, "Electric refrigerators
in the 1920s and 1930s were seen as a large step toward modernization of the home." Shortly after this time customization of refrigerators became
popular and with advances in the electrical components involved the units became smaller. In 1908 advertisements became popular for upright vacuum

attention, kindness based solely on physical beauty, and being part of the beautiful "league" (40) are far more desirable than the ability to make
conversation, or for that matter, anything she has in her current life. When it comes time to make the final wish, Martin makes it clear that Bethany has
her mind set on beauty. Unsuccessfully, Carla attempts one last time to dissuade her, then Bethany unleashes the genie. After an explosion, the two
girls regain consciousness and realize they have switched bodies; Bethany's wish for beauty has come true. Although Bethany did not mean to become
Carla, she still ultimately got her wish.
In the last few lines of the play, Bethany explains that the swap gave both girls the one thing that everybody wants; different problems. "It's better than

HS History
Throughout World War II the US used airplanes in many different ways. Some were used to carry troops and supplies, some were used as bombers,
and some were used to attack directly. The P–51 Mustang, the Boeing P–17 Flying Fortress, and the Martin B–26 Marauder are just a few examples of
these. Even though each plane had a different job, they all came together to help win the war. The P–51 Mustang was commissioned by the British
Royal Air Force, and was built by North American Aviation. Its first flight took place on October 26th. The Mustang ran on the Packard V
–1650–7
engine, which was a version of the Rolls–Royce Merlin 66 and was mounted with six .50 caliber M2/AN Browning machine guns. The first units of
Mustangs weren't able to reach high altitudes because of inferior engines, which lead to them being used primarily as reconnaissance and ground
attacking planes. But the US decided to use them as bomber escorts for deep penetration daylight bombing runs. The Boeing B–17 Flying Fortress was
primarily used by the USAAC (United States Army Air Corps) and was built by Boeing. The B–17 used four Pratt and Whitney R–1690 Hornet Radial
engines and carried five .30 caliber machine guns and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Martin Company for the USAAC and was also used by the Royal Air Force and the South African Air Force. The Marauder was powered by two Pratt
and Whitney R–2800 Double Wasp radial engines and was equipped with a .30 caliber machine gun on the nose, two .50 caliber machine guns on the
dorsal fin, and another .30 caliber on the tail. The B–26 was nicknamed "Widowmaker" because of its reputation to crash on take–offs. It had to be
flown at precise speeds, which was intimidating to pilots. As the crews became more trained for the aircraft, however, it became safer to fly. The
plane was modified as well to make take–offs easier and the Marauder soon became one of the deadliest weapons in the
