A Civil War is a war fought between citizens of same
country. In the United States, the American Civil War is
known simply as the Civil War.
Abraham Lincoln was the President of the
United States during the Civil War.
Lincoln declared that he would do everything necessary to
keep the United States united as one country. He
refused to recognize the southern states as an
independent nation and the Civil War erupted in the
spring of 1861.

100,000 troops for their forces.

In 1862, a draft law was passed that required men aged
18 to 35 to fight on behalf of the Confederate states.

Union General-in-Chief Winfield Scott ordered a

block the Confederacy from getting outside resources.
