Internet Fraud Is Greater Than Ever
ote – In a world amid the buzzing and beeping of smart phones, laptops, and tablets, our susceptibility now to internet fraud is greater than ever. It's not
incredibly uncommon to hear of someone's experience with separation anxiety over their mobile device. and although this may be common nature and
just scream of the attachment issues we've developed with each new technological advancement becoming available on the market, the preeminent
problem is security. The deceit in the system is clear to see. We lock our doors as a method of protecting ourselves in our homes and vehicles, but what
measure provides the same sense of security online? The passwords we create that are intended to be a minimum of eight characters, include a number
as well as at least one capital letter, or special character has to be something that we can remember and have committed to memory. The issue with this
lies within the frequency of of repetitive use of the same keyword/phrase. Director of IT for Bud Clary Automotive and Senior Emerging Security
Technology Engineer Consultant for Nike, Inc., Sherry Carpenter, provides insight on the subject, "With just over three billion people accessing the
internet everyday it's proven to be immensely important to have firewalls, encryption tactics and Intrusion Prevention Systems in place to secure a
network from malicious traffic (including viruses, malware, ransomware, etc.)... By merely opening an unknown attachment in an email, you risk

Under Armour is one of the leading manufacturer, marketer and distributor for branded sports apparel, footwear and accessories, for both men and
women. The company was founded in 1996 by Kevin Plank, a former football player for University of Maryland. The company has its headquarters at
Baltimore but sells its products in most countries across the world. Additional regional offices are located in Amsterdam 's Olympic Stadium, Hong
Kong, Guangzhou and Denver among others. Despite beginning from humble backgrounds, the company employs 2,200 workers and reports sales
exceeding 700 million dollars. Currently, the company 's vision is to empower athletes everywhere; the mission is to make all athletes better through
passion, design and relentless pursuit of innovation. Therefore, this essay examines Under Armour 's business environment and suggests
recommendations and opinions on the strategic direction of the company.
2. Environmental Analysis
2.2 Internal Environment
2.2.2 Financial
Consistent increase in sales is a major strength of the company because it guarantees a positive financial position. On the contrary, high prices and
small total revenues and profits when compared to Nike/Adidas are a major weakness that affects the company 's ability to compete against these
dominant forces.
2.2.2 Technological
The company owes its technological strength to its core competence in innovation and an intelligent research and development team. Also, the

Squipeek Research Paper
Squipeek isn't a normal animal at all. Unlike other animals, Squipeek is a creation made by Scientist Tiffany Tang in the year 2020. Originally Squipeek
was created to be used to spread happiness within the country of China, but due to a miscalculation, Squipeek wasn't created with the standards of
beneficial powers. Instead, she is a creature created with a great personality and evil powers. Squipeek's wings can spray out an impressive hypnotizing
perfume, her tentacles have the ability to emit poison, her fins are for creating massive wind and to swim in the ocean, and Squipeek is able to heal
herself rapidly, but she isn't immortal. Squipeek's diet only contains various fruits and veggies such as; durian, jackfruit, longan, lychee, dragon fruit,

BOOM! Went the door as it swung wide open, startling Squipeek as she hastily emits poison from her tentacles. As she spat out poison, the guards
quickly protected Tuoba Jun the emperor. Tuoba Jun noticed her substantial powers and begged while kneeling down to help him fight the war.
Squipeek refused him at first knowing that war would definitely bring harm to her. Persistently, Tuoba Jun still begged her explaining that his citizens
are dying each day and the enemy won't cease until everyone is killed. With hesitation, Squipeek agreed but with only one condition; that her needs in
the future will be taken care of. In an instant, Squipeek was dragged into the war with Tuoba Jun as they fought side by side. The enemies were finally
defeated. Jun found Squipeek very useful thus, he appointed Squipeek as his own royal guard. Squipeek accepted the title with gratitude. Even though
Squipeek isn't a human nor animal, people regarded her as the Legendary Savior when she fought in the war. Thus, this is how Squipeek changed from
being a creator of happiness to a royal guard for Tuoba

Microservices and compartments: 6 administration tips for the whole deal Conveying holder based microservices is recently the start. Here's the means
by which to oversee them viably You could plunge quick into a creation situation with containerized microservices, yet most specialists wouldn't

Microservices are approximately coupled, so keep them that way," Yang says. "Give every microservice a chance to do a certain something and do it

Microservices and compartments can empower quicker, more coordinated, more adaptable, and more responsive programming groups. Be that as it
may, first of all. "Have an arrangement before sending to creation," Kavis prompts. He shares an illustration structure for such an arrangement: Grow

Adam Corolla Usc Lecture Essay
Adam Carolla Lecture Paper
One of the basic tenets of life is that greater opportunities will appear to individuals that actively pursue and know how to recognize them. Since the
majority of us do not have the luxury of being born into wealth or power, the choices that we make ultimately shape our successes in life. Adam Carolla
begins by using examples to highlight the concepts of consistency and residual income. He explains that it is easier and more useful to understand how
to sell something and continue selling it again and again as opposed to figuring out how to simply make a large amount of money. As a student that had
performed poorly in high school, he worked a variety of jobs including carpet cleaner and boxing trainer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conversely, Adam Carolla cites an example of negative reinforcement being used as a form of motivation. He refers to his time working as a carpet
cleaner out of high school and the "pain" he felt from working a horrible job with people he did not like. Carolla explains that by being miserable at a
bad job, he learned he did not want to continue working at a career that he did not enjoy. Using "pain" as a motivating factor, this realization forced
Adam to forge a better career path for himself. Another important aspect of creating opportunities revolves around the concept of doing a job well
regardless of whether you enjoy it or not. In reality, the dream job is not typically the first job, the second job, or even the third. However, this does not
count as an excuse for not performing to the highest capacity at any level of work. Adam expands, saying that it is crucial to "get in the habit of doing
things well" and not judge a job because you it feel it might be below you. Doing a job properly and to the fullest ability demonstrates attention to the
detail and is a key indicator of overall job performance to employers. Experience and knowledge are also key elements that an individual can use to
take advantage of opportunities. In order to obtain chance for advancement, it is imperative to commit the time to understand all the aspects of a job and
acquire the knowledge necessary for when the opportunity does come. In

Social Media's Negative Effects On College Athletes
"The number of coaches and teams who don't allow players to use social media has decreased in recent years[...]as coaches realize that many players
will use them anyway(Deshazo 2)." Social media has become one of the easiest ways to speak your mind and have your voice heard. However, with
power comes responsibility, if athletes are not extremely careful about what they choose to announce, it can be dangerous for their career. There has
been a numerous amount of cases where an athlete post or says something that they should not have and it costs them their career. Social media can be
dangerous for athletes because it can ruin their good reputation and it can become a huge distraction to their career. Social media can put an athlete`s ...

If an athlete receives criticism through social media, it can affect their mental game. It can make them feel pressured or it can bring them down.
Athletes are still considered human and can still get their feelings hurt. It`s not easy performing for your college, state, or even nation. Adding onto that,
criticism is the last thing that athletes need. Regardless of how good or bad of a player you are, there will always be those fans that say rude and
inappropriate comments on social media, there is no way to avoid it. A published study found that distractions and criticism can drain mental energy
leading to a decrease in how good they perform (Cohn 1). The best thing for athletes to do is just ignore the criticism by not even going on social media
at all. Social media makes athletes feel as if they need to perform good for online glory. It is proven that social media can become a distraction and
interfere with an athlete`s ability to focus on their sport (Puymbroeck 1). Receiving distractions can provoke a negative mood and stress, which can
then take up mental energy. The athlete will feel down and will not perform at their best. When the athletes goes on social media and reads comments
and fans taunting them, they can feel as if they aren't good enough or that they don't belong on the team. The story of Ricky Williams is one that will
never be forgotten. Ricky played in the NFL and ended up

Homophobia in American Beauty
I watched the movie American Beauty a couple of days ago and saw how homophobia might be a sign that the homophobic might be a homosexual. So
I though I'd write about it. American Beauty centers on the last year of Lester Burnham's life. Lester Burnham, played by Kevin Spacey, is married to
Carolyn Burnham, played by Annette Betting, and their marriage is picture perfect on the outside, but the perfection is only superficially. Their
marriage is based on projecting one image– a picture perfect suburbia lifestyle when it is in fact quite the opposite. Colonel Frank Fitts played by Chris
Cooper, is the new neighbor who is presented as a homophobic man. He hates on and puts down the homosexual couple in the neighborhood constantly.
So what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Men fear humiliation or weakness because they always have to present everyone this image of being though, dominant and dependent; men despise
anything that goes against these traditional views of masculinity. This traditional thoughts lead to homophobia. The media is constantly portraying men
in a violent or dominant way in the movies, TV shows, etc. Asians are almost always portrayed as martial artist or violent criminals and Latinos as
boxers, criminals or though gangsters.
Ever since the Colonel moved in he shows this extreme disgust towards homosexuals around his neighborhood. He even shows this behavior towards
his son Ricky when he becomes suspicious of his (Ricky's) relationship with Lester. Probably when the Colonel was growing up, being gay was the
worse and he tried to hide it from his parents and thought the army might help straighten him out and got married to try to appear like a normal man. At
the end of the movie Frank believes he sees his son taking money from Lester for sexual favors and this results in Ricky leaving the house.
Castañeda 3
The death of Lester Burnham is simply because he aroused his homophobic neighbor. Lester appears to be sexually available to men when he tells his
neighbor: "Our (Lester's and Carolyn's) marriage is just for show...a commercial for how normal we are, when we're anything but..." He (Frank)
attempts to kiss Lester, proving his hidden desire for men.

dropping out of his home–town University of Las Vegas to work full–time as a programmer. He was met with an opportunity to work on TechTV's "The

discussion between Alex and Kevin which employed stories from Digg.com to guide the discussion through relevant "tech and cultural news"
("Robert"). Through his show, Kevin turned not only Digg, but himself as well, into brands. Rose, at times, leveraged the show to promote his ventures.
Although Rose left Diggnation in 2011 and Discovery channel now owns Revision3, Rose's contributions have given him a large fan base in the tech

happy staying in one position or at one company for very long. He finds opportunity and jumps on it. Two, most of the opportunities he takes a chance
on seem to work out. Entrepreneurs need to create their own luck. Three, he does not have any problem with quitting. Many people

Kevin Mitnick, The Condor, The Darkside Hacker, The greatest hacker alive, whatever name he was given that pins him down as a perpetrator of the
law, Kevin Mitnick still serves as an educator to enthusiasts in the world of Information Security. He unveils many secrets of the hacker in The Art of
Deception. The Art of Intrusion takes a different twist from its predecessor. It looks at the attitude of the hacker and what drives them.
Personally the book lacked the full degree of intrusions one is capable of. Looking at the resume Kevin Mitnick has, successful intruder, phenomenal
social engineer, most wanted of the law, caught and convicted criminal, security consultant and finally company CEO, one would have expected his
personal experiences and intrusions that finally landed him as the greatest hacker ever known by the media. With this the book lacked some sort of
uniqueness because it was based on other stories of intrusions.
Mitnick took different stories and merged lots of information through them which in turn ended up being more of an introduction course to types of
security breaches than an in depth look at how hackers can breach security. This showed some form of incompleteness especially to a technical
audience. For the non–technical it serves as a good read but not much is learnt and gained by the technical audience so I feel the target audience was
blurred out. The stories seemed very fictional which again raised the suspicion of whether they were really true or

This led Mitnick to spend the majority of his time incarcerated in solitary confinement due to the government's fear of him attempting to gain control of
more sensitive information. Mitnick states in both of his aforementioned books that he compromised computers solely by using passwords and codes
acquired as a result of social engineering. As a result, Mitnick was restricted from using any forms of technology upon his release from prison until
approximately 5 years ago. Kevin Mitnick is now the CEO of Mitnick Security Consulting, a computer security consultancy. Social engineering

when attempting to combat this type of attack. Combat strategies require action on both physical and psychological levels. This form appeals to hackers

`` A Cyborg Manifesto `` By Donna Haraway
We invented machines to fulfill our necessities. As machines get smarter in the 21th century, we give machines more permissions and freedom to do
more things for us. However, the new generations that are born with all the advanced technologies they needed don't quite understanding the use of
machines as we are more relying on them. The machines are quickly expanding and replacing our brains and bodies even it is a simple task to do. But if
we step back a little and think that we are the inventors of these modern machines. Are we scare of machines taking over our societies or is it just our
fear and curiosity that tricked us? Well, we now cannot live without machines. Human and machine are bonded together tightly that we can't identify
who we really are. We become cyborg which is a more accurate term to describe who we are now.
The reading "A Cyborg Manifesto" by Donna Haraway points out that we are cyborgs. There is no difference between human and machine and this
boundary has been breached. Cyborgs are a hybrid of machine and organism. They often appear in the science fiction. Haraway describes that machines
are now doing most of our works while we just sit back and watch them doing what they suppose to do. It feels like the machines are becoming alive
and we are the one that rarely doing anything. However, we are still on the top of the hierarchy no matter how machines will change our lives, we are

Nba Free Agent, Texas And Play For The Golden State Warriors
This past summer Kevin Durant made the bold decision as an NBA free agent to take his talents to Oakland, California and play for the Golden State
Warriors. Durant had played his prior eight years for the Oklahoma Thunder. During this time playing for the Thunder, Durant has won an NBA Most
Valuable Player Award, four NBA scoring titles, the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, and two Olympic gold medals. He has also been selected to six
All–NBA teams and seven All–Star teams. Durant helped lead Oklahoma City to the 2012 NBA Finals, losing to the Miami Heat in five games. What is
so controversial about his decision to play for Golden State is that this past season when he was playing for the Thunder in the playoffs, the Thunder
blew a 3–1 lead against the Warriors. You would think that the Warriors would be the last team he would leave the Thunder for, but no. Kevin obviously
saw greater potential in his career to decide on playing for the Golden State Warriors, but what were the factors that led to his opportunity cost in his
decision making. Did Kevin Durant make a choice that maximizes his utility, and leads to having more success in the NBA? Or one that will lead to
him wanting to move teams again in two years once his contract with Golden State is done.
Once Kevin Durant's contract ended the entire NBA opened up to him wanting his name on their roster. To start with the option that so many OKC

As former American sergeant Camilo Mejia said, "There's no higher assertion of freedom than to follow your conscience." In 2003, Mejia went on a
leave of absence from Iraq and never returned because of his loathing of the abuse prisoners of war. He came out of hiding to face the army and was
sentenced to one year in military prison. He proclaimed that he felt freer there than ever before. The disrespect from others that Mejia encountered was
worth the great pride he had for himself. When making an imperative decision, you cannot please everyone. Sometimes you need to separate yourself
from others. What your parents or friends preach is not necessarily what you should live by. Staying true to yourself is what is most important. At
certain times, you have to delve deep to understand what really matters. Being someone who abandons their own ideals and only lives out the dreams
and beliefs of others is not the right way to go through life. There's a chance you have a certain theory that no one else expresses, but is actually
apprehended by many. Conveying particular feelings can allow others to feel comfortable in doing the same. It's easy to be misunderstood for following
your conscience, especially when your actions might seem contradictory. Conscientious objectors, for example, are looked down by some people but
are simply following their true beliefs. These are not necessarily lifelong values because some people develop these after many years. One of

Social Engineering : A Form Of Identity Theft
Abstract
Social Engineering from the outset may seem like a topic one might hear when talking about sociology or psychology, when in fact it is a form of
identity theft. To an information technology (IT) professional, Social Engineering is a form of voluntary, unintentional identity theft. Many victims fail
to realize they are being victimized until it is too late, while many others may never know. This paper will provide a definition of social engineering as
it applies to information technology while introducing some the pioneers of social engineering; those who have, essentially, written the book on social
engineering. We will provide real world examples of how social engineers apply their trade and provide important points to consider with regards to
social engineering attacks. In conclusion we will propose counter–measures, which individuals and organizations should take in order to guard against
social engineering.
Social Engineering as defined by IT professionals is the practice of deceiving someone, either in person, over the phone or using a computer, with the
express intent of breaching some level of security, either personal or professional (Ledford, 2011.) Implementing quality risk analysis solutions while
maintaining data integrity is a crucial element of successful system modeling; within the context of social engineering in the workplace, there are
several factors that can make implementing those solutions rather challenging. Social engineering is a type of

The Power of Social Engineers in The Art Of Deception by...
The Art of Deception is an in depth look at the vulnerability that the common man has to the social engineer. Mitnick's perspective comes from a social
angle instead of a technological one, seeing as he is known as the greatest hacker all over media and most of his methods weren't technologically
inclined but socially. A quick look into Mitnick's background, he was an only child who had a knack for understanding the Nitti Gritty of technology.
As a child, he managed to 'hack' the bus system in Los Angeles and travel for free, exploited telephone networks as a teen and in college, infiltrated
their network and was later hired because it was either that or expulsion. These are just a few of his many hacking exhibitions. He has served jail time
because he realised what he did was wrong and is now helping companies avoid similar exploitations through his security company, public talks and
through his books.
In this day and age, where information is the new currency on the block, criminals are on the rise to acquire this information. The book highlights the
different techniques and attacks of the social engineer and how easily we are persuaded into thinking that technology has secured us from these attacks.
He shows these through a variety of stories that have actually happened as indications of our negligence to these attacks, but as well points out ways
that we can protect ourselves from these attacks and become less victimized by the social engineer. He gets us to look through

History:
Founded in 1996 by former University of Maryland football player Kevin Plank.
Originally started with a simple plan to make a t–shirt that provided compression and wicked perspiration off your skin instead of absorbing it.
"Under Armour's mission is to make all athletes better through passion, design and the relentless pursuit of innovation."
In 1999, Plank and his team signed on to supply product for the film Any Given Sunday. In the film, the football team wears Under Armour apparel and

Have created partnerships with professional sports leagues like Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, and the Baltimore Marathon.

Weaknesses:
In early development, Under Armour shoes weren't able to hold up after continual wear and tear and they were ripped apart. Many people lost respect
for that area of the company and this has hurt them as that stigma still sticks with them even after further innovations.
Under Armour has not yet completely extended into the world markets yet, so they will be able to increase their profits once they become a big force in
those markets.
Recently there was a feud between Kevin Plank and other stock holders over a proposed stock split that would guarantee he would stay in control of the
company.
Opportunities:

and sales significantly.
Under Armour needs to continue to innovate in order to remain competitive with other companies like Nike, Adidas, and

To Each His Own by Leonardo Sciascia
IB English 11 World Literature Essay – To Each His Own
An anonymous person once said, "Who gossips with you will gossip of you". This quote is saying that whoever shares gossip with an individual about
someone or something will not hesitate when talking about the same person with another individual. Gossip is in no way a new idea, since many people
at one point in their lives have taken part in a conversation about another individual's personal business. Every day, especially in modern day society,
many men and women are susceptible to gossip and its consequences. One major consequence includes false information being spread around, which
causes people to become misled; this may eventually cause loss of a person's reputation. The way gossip can affect many different things is presented in
a plethora of scenarios in life and literature. An analysis of literary terms and techniques in Leonardo Sciascia's novel To Each His Own demonstrates
the idea that gossip in small towns may sometimes be extremely virulent since it is spreading false information and can affect one's reputation through
the vilification of that person.

Since the beginning of mankind the need to communicate with one another has served as an essential part of existing. From the hieroglyphics painted in
pyramids in Egypt, sending smoke signals by Indians, communicating over radio, writing a letter and sending it via mail service to present day
communication via cellular phone and internet. According to the International Telecommunication Union, by the end of 2015 nearly half of the 7.2
billion people on the planet will have access to the internet (Internet Used by, 2015). The ability to log on to a computer and communicate via the
internet has changed the way people interact. This real time ability made the world a much smaller place. However, this access to the World Wide Web
was not always just a click away.
In the late 1960's, a Department of Defense (DOD) sponsored program known as Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPAN), developed
the first working prototype of the internet (Andrews, 2013). As technology has advanced throughout history the ability of mankind to exploit the
conveniences afforded by the technology has also advanced. While the advantages of the internet outweigh the disadvantages it would be irresponsible
to overlook the negatives. According to Andrews, (2013) by the 1990's the internet prototype had progressed into what was then called the World Wide
Web, which is what has developed into what nearly half the world uses today (n.p.). Just a few years before the internet began to be

expenses. Under Armour is trying to connect to the middle class more, by trying to make their merchandise as affordable as possible. Fortunately, for

John Kevin Rudd 's Speech : New Ideas And Perspectives
Discoveries lead to new ideas and perspectives. These can have many unexpected repercussions that alter many aspects of peoples lives. It is for this
reason that discoveries, and the changes they may provoke are often confronting, forcing people to question their previous views, and expectations.
Discoveries can adjust the ways we can view things in the past, present and future. Kevin Rudd's Sorry speech confronts Australia with the truth of past
wrongdoings that have taken place against aboriginals. Robert Gray's Coast Road voices confronting viewpoints of forthcoming change in North Coast
Town, and also disturbing discoveries relating to current proceedings in The Meatworks. These many forms of discoveries can potentially, have ...

Implying that they will react responsibly and hopefully reach a self–discovery. As shown, this speech conveys two main thematic concerns.
Acknowledgement for the past and the suffering that has been inflicted, and hope of decreasing the initial confrontation that has been carried with the
discovery. Optimistically, realising the positives in acknowledgement, and felt in an improved outcome.
North Coast Town mainly explores Gray's self–discovery about his fear of the unknown. The central theme of change is carried throughout the text. It is
clear that this subject is confronting to the persona as they are seeing the last of what they recognise to be authentic, being replaced with the newer,
industrialised culture. Developments were appearing more and more throughout coastline suburbs in the time which the text is set, as part of a push for
the Australian economy. This created more amenities and population, but also tended to lose the original, community township feel. These
transformations are conveyed through juxtaposition from the old to the new, the known to the unknown, "We pass bulldozed acres; the place is
becoming chrome. tile–facing and plate glass, they're making California; pass an Abo, not attempting to hitch, outside town." This example also
displays exaggeration, further developing Gray's overwhelmed stance, the result of such

An Analysis of the Australian Curriculum
Introduction
With the introduction of the Australian National Curriculum into all education systems across the country, many questions and debates have occurred in
reference to its effectiveness. From the often perceived conflicting curriculum definitions to the unfortunate failures of past attempts of curriculum
implementation, every member of the community has an opinion on this significant shift in the way Australia thinks of its children's education (Rudd,
2007). The Australian Curriculum however, has attempted to provide answers to these misgivings and societal concern, from an easy to use website
interface, transparent developmental process and state/ territory inclusion of common educational individualities. The Australian ... Show more content

The Australian political structure and the level of authority the federal government has over state/territory and independent organisations over
educational policy, may have been a contributing factor for this lack of committed development and intended eventual nationwide implementation
(Marsh, 2010). Learning from previous governments' attempts implementing a national curriculum, the federal government from 2009, enacted a series
of shaping reforms, with the aim of successfully gaining support and legal authority over the implementation of a national curriculum (Marsh, 2010).
The request for state/territory appointed representatives, statements of open consultation in development, through to what Brady and Kennedy (2010)
refer to as 'hard policy', including the establishment of ACARA as a statutory body over all manner of educational policy and the linking of funding
repercussions to the implementation of the Australian Curriculum (Schools Assistance Bill, National Education Agreement) has led to all educational
organisations agreeing to the use of the impending curriculum documents.
Brady and Kennedy (2010) state that no single form of curriculum model is commonly used by developers, therefore using specific components of
different models and designing a process that works for the organisation or individuals intent. As such the Australian Curriculum developers

Women 's Suffrage Movement Of America
Over the decades there has been an allure to the Western, no matter what form it is enjoyed. A good story about the misunderstood hero winning the day
and riding off into the sunset never seems to stop bringing in the audiences. What really was the attraction of the Western in its heyday? From the early
nineteenth century into the the 1950s, the Western attracted many readers and viewers to its genre. Sure there was gunfights, cowboys and Indians
fighting over what each wanted from this harsh landscape that was the west. People were entranced by the mystery of the land that wanted to be tamed,
or not. In all this mixture of heroes saving the town among wagon trains rolling over the plains, there was something else brewing in American minds.
There were changes going on in America during the rise of the Western. Industrialization and social changes such as the women's suffrage movement
had citizens looking for a new frontier to get answers from. The west offered the change in scenery, and an untouched society, and the freedom to
reinvent oneself. Americans were seeing in the Western a way back to simpler times or a vision of breaking away from society and back to nature. In
times of upheaval and change, people try to find a way to make sense of life changing. They also look towards visions of something that is akin to the
"good ole days". The Western landscape with its unfettered expanse can offer the feeling of going back to a better time and beginning anew. John

My Life I Have Gone From Extreme Fandom
Throughout the course of my life, I have gone from extreme fandom to none at all. I guess one can say it had to do with the stages of life that I went
through. At times, I sought to admire individuals as a sense of community. Particularly, during my childhood, I spent much of my time admiring
celebrities. From musicians to actors, I adored them. In fact, my pastel pink walls in my bedroom were hardly ever seen because they were covered
with posters upon posters from my favorite pre–teen magazine. That was one of my all–time favorite past times; asking my mom for Bop magazine that
all the posters and quizzes an eleven–year–old girl could ask for. I want the goal of this fandom autobiography to take my readers through my life
journey and how I have become a die–hard fan girl at times, to one that could care less. As a kid, around five or six years old, started my progression
into fandom. I spent hours not only watching Disney movies in my living room, but aspiring to be a part of them. Often times I would grab my mother's
tape recorder, and record myself for long periods of time acting as if I was in the movies that I loved so much. One of my favorite movies at the time,
The Little Mermaid, naturally called for me to pretend and sing as if I were the little mermaid herself. I realized, even at that young age, that I was
never going to be a mermaid, but at least I could try. There was something about being on television or in popular novels that made everyone in them

A Different Perspective On Foreign Affairs
Tony Abbott, John Howard and Kevin Rudd each have a different perspective on foreign affairs, but there is also a common thread to their approach. In
the following paper I compare and contrast a speech made by each of them concerning foreign affairs and note the large similarity of ideology between
each of them. All speeches support a strong relationship with the United States of America and active engagement in international affairs. I argue that
they differ only in the nuance of emphasis although there is some evidence of traditional 'realist ' and 'liberal ' approaches to international politics.
Howard concentrates on pragmatic state to state engagement for the benefit of Australians. Abbott focuses more on building up the military and
physical security. Rudd is the only one of the three to emphasise that Australia 's foreign engagement should be for the benefit of others, as well as
Australia. Overall, however, the speeches demonstrate a greater commonality of purpose and direction than they do divergent opinions. I argue the
resulting stability of foreign policy engagement benefits not only Australia, but the rest of the world.
The first speech of the three was given by John Howard. Howard begins his speech by describing the wide ranging help Australia is providing to
foreign countries through defence force medical aid, the electoral commission advice and treasury counselling (Howard 2004: 2–3). Howard describes
the help Australia gives abroad as practical, broad and

The 1984 version of Footloose stars young actor Kevin Bacon as he plays the role of Ren McCormack, a city teen who moves to the small town of
Bomont to live with his mom. Local minister, Reverend Shaw Moore (John Lithgow), has put a ban on dancing and rock music because of an incident
that happened years ago. For most of the town this is not a big deal but for the new Ren McCormack this is a big issue. Ren McCormack makes it his
mission with the help of his friends Willard (Chris Penn) and Ariel (Lori Singer) to shake things up. However, the set back is that Ariel is the minister's

Under Armour is usually known for commercials that contain football or baseball players, which are male dominated sports. When Under Armour came

Feminism is the support of women's rights of the equality of the sexes. Feminism has been a issue since the late 18th century but the real question is

could empower the rest of the world, especially the female athletes. During this time, it was actually the largest campaign for women which had a large
impact in the world. Female athlete paradox is a thing in our culture, people have a tendency of ignoring it but it is alive. The commercial wanted to
speak to everyone to show how they are incorporating more women into the fold. Female athletes were often thought to be less appreciated since
athletics were originally just male dominated. To play a sport you need to have "masculine qualities, such as strength, aggression, and competition"

Models of Children's
What makes a child, a child goes hand in hand with the different models of childhood. Two out of the many models I chose to go in depth with are the
"Sacred Child," and "the Romantic Child." There's a distinction between the two models, however sharing the commonality of innocence. The
Romantic Child is the idea that children should have the freedom to play, the love for childhood, to explore, and to imagine. They are bound to face
some disappointment along their journey into adulthood. Theres the idea that "children see what adults can't." As for the Sacred Child, the child is
viewed as precious and admired. So precious they are in need of protection. The idea that the children learn not to be risk takers, a sense of
forgetfulness when it comes to problem solving. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pros: Social media is they key as this influences brand–familiarity throughout households. They use minimal expenses, "Official Outfitter", more so

Cons: Lack of growth could occur by negatively influencing capabilities from within the company.
3. Domestic sales and beyond.
Pros: A small percentage of global expansion increase revenue by two–fold, but where's the incentive? Like most major brands, manufacturing
outsourcing to other countries is the choice. Asia has become infused with their similar like products, which increases the competitive pricing from their

Cons: Global competition for their manufacturing pricing these influences UA, which prevents competitiveness from other leading brand companies.

One of the main issues brought up in putting this sort of product out to the public is the privacy issue. There is somebody who knows where the user is,
every second of every day. With this, great deal of privacy and security is at risk. This kind of knowledge is very tempting for those who may not have
the best intentions. Management may misuse or sell the information that the product provides. People have almost no protection from businesses that
want to use your personal records for profit, so who is to stop them from doing it? The GPA can be used to develop precisely targeted information
concerning thier personal habits. Hackers also may be able to access information for their own personal gain. Another issue brought up is the reliance
on databases. A slight error in the information can have a major effect on somebody's life. It is extremely difficult to detect inaccurate information in
databases. There have been many cases of database errors ruining people's lives. Is it right to record somebody's personal information when there is
room for human error?

Kevin Plank Under Armour Essay
Under Armour
1. Under Armour was founded in 1995 by Kevin Plank. Kevin played football at the University of Maryland and noticed how often he and he's
teammates had to change their undershirts because of all of the sweat they absorbed. The sweat the shirts absorbed made the shirts much heavier and
more uncomfortable. He then noticed that the compressions shorts he was wearing were not nearing as heavy and didn't absorb the sweat the shirt did.
This one simple observation kick–started his experimentation to develop a t–shirt for athletes. He experimented with different fabrics in his

We, as a country, have apologized, however a statement of regret can't fix the wrong that was finished. Or maybe, a statement of regret is an assertion

The Importance Of Population Development In Australia
200 years after Australia's Indigenous forcibly had to share their land, the growth of population and development that Australia has experienced is
unprecedented. Currently Australia's population stands at 24 Million and it is on a continuous rise, due to a combination of both, a high birth rate and a
significant number of immigrants per annum. As a multicultural nation, the immigration intake is a major factor, and is said to have generated just over
half (56%) of population growth, this is due to the demand to settle permanently in Australia, work for an amount of time or study as student (Wilson,
2017). Furthermore, interest in population policy was once again visited in 2010, when the current Prime Minister Kevin Rudd proclaimed that he
supported a 'Big Australia', along with a released prediction that by 2050 Australia's population would reach 36 Million (Brown, 2011, pp.1). However,
the opposition leader Tony Abbott, took this opportunity to gather support from the public, and argued for a sustainable population policy, and calling
Rudd out on a "reckless commitment", which Julia Gillard once Rudd was ousted, was also quick to favour, focusing her views on a sustainable
approach to population growth (Brown, 2011, pp.2). The population policy debate is widely discussed and a driver for public concern, but the birth rate
and the rate of net overseas migration is on a continuous high and both factors are relatively hard to control or predict. A range of commentator's as

Internet Fraud Is Greater Than Ever

  • 1. Internet Fraud Is Greater Than Ever ote – In a world amid the buzzing and beeping of smart phones, laptops, and tablets, our susceptibility now to internet fraud is greater than ever. It's not incredibly uncommon to hear of someone's experience with separation anxiety over their mobile device. and although this may be common nature and just scream of the attachment issues we've developed with each new technological advancement becoming available on the market, the preeminent problem is security. The deceit in the system is clear to see. We lock our doors as a method of protecting ourselves in our homes and vehicles, but what measure provides the same sense of security online? The passwords we create that are intended to be a minimum of eight characters, include a number as well as at least one capital letter, or special character has to be something that we can remember and have committed to memory. The issue with this lies within the frequency of of repetitive use of the same keyword/phrase. Director of IT for Bud Clary Automotive and Senior Emerging Security Technology Engineer Consultant for Nike, Inc., Sherry Carpenter, provides insight on the subject, "With just over three billion people accessing the internet everyday it's proven to be immensely important to have firewalls, encryption tactics and Intrusion Prevention Systems in place to secure a network from malicious traffic (including viruses, malware, ransomware, etc.)... • 5. Squipeek Research Paper Squipeek isn't a normal animal at all. Unlike other animals, Squipeek is a creation made by Scientist Tiffany Tang in the year 2020. Originally Squipeek was created to be used to spread happiness within the country of China, but due to a miscalculation, Squipeek wasn't created with the standards of beneficial powers. Instead, she is a creature created with a great personality and evil powers. Squipeek's wings can spray out an impressive hypnotizing perfume, her tentacles have the ability to emit poison, her fins are for creating massive wind and to swim in the ocean, and Squipeek is able to heal herself rapidly, but she isn't immortal. As she spat out poison, the guards quickly protected Tuoba Jun the emperor. Tuoba Jun noticed her substantial powers and begged while kneeling down to help him fight the war. Squipeek refused him at first knowing that war would definitely bring harm to her. Persistently, Tuoba Jun still begged her explaining that his citizens are dying each day and the enemy won't cease until everyone is killed. With hesitation, Squipeek agreed but with only one condition; that her needs in the future will be taken care of. In an instant, Squipeek was dragged into the war with Tuoba Jun as they fought side by side. The enemies were finally defeated. Jun found Squipeek very useful thus, he appointed Squipeek as his own royal guard. Squipeek accepted the title with gratitude. Even though Squipeek isn't a human nor animal, people regarded her as the Legendary Savior when she fought in the war. Here's the means by which to oversee them viably You could plunge quick into a creation situation with containerized microservices, yet most specialists wouldn't prescribe it, particularly if it's your first run around with this intense match of innovations. There are impressive focal points to compartment based microservices: As Red Hat innovation evangelist Gordon Haff as of late expressed, "Even Match.com couldn't have discovered a superior accomplice for microservices." But capitalizing on that match made in IT paradise requires a solid, adaptable arrangement for progressing administration of your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Microservices are approximately coupled, so keep them that way," Yang says. "Give every microservice a chance to do a certain something and do it awfully well. Don't scope in extra highlights to existing microservices that are executing great." 2. Set up your administration design – early Microservices and compartments can empower quicker, more coordinated, more adaptable, and more responsive programming groups. • 9. Adam Corolla Usc Lecture Essay Adam Carolla Lecture Paper One of the basic tenets of life is that greater opportunities will appear to individuals that actively pursue and know how to recognize them. Since the majority of us do not have the luxury of being born into wealth or power, the choices that we make ultimately shape our successes in life. Adam Carolla begins by using examples to highlight the concepts of consistency and residual income. He explains that it is easier and more useful to understand how to sell something and continue selling it again and again as opposed to figuring out how to simply make a large amount of money. As a student that had performed poorly in high school, he worked a variety of jobs including carpet cleaner and boxing trainer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conversely, Adam Carolla cites an example of negative reinforcement being used as a form of motivation. He refers to his time working as a carpet cleaner out of high school and the "pain" he felt from working a horrible job with people he did not like. Carolla explains that by being miserable at a bad job, he learned he did not want to continue working at a career that he did not enjoy. Using "pain" as a motivating factor, this realization forced Adam to forge a better career path for himself. Another important aspect of creating opportunities revolves around the concept of doing a job well regardless of whether you enjoy it or not. In reality, the dream job is not typically the first job, the second job, or even the third. However, this does not count as an excuse for not performing to the highest capacity at any level of work. Adam expands, saying that it is crucial to "get in the habit of doing things well" and not judge a job because you it feel it might be below you. Doing a job properly and to the fullest ability demonstrates attention to the detail and is a key indicator of overall job performance to employers. Experience and knowledge are also key elements that an individual can use to take advantage of opportunities. In order to obtain chance for advancement, it is imperative to commit the time to understand all the aspects of a job and acquire the knowledge necessary for when the opportunity does come. In ... Social Media's Negative Effects On College Athletes "The number of coaches and teams who don't allow players to use social media has decreased in recent years[...]as coaches realize that many players will use them anyway(Deshazo 2)." Social media has become one of the easiest ways to speak your mind and have your voice heard. However, with power comes responsibility, if athletes are not extremely careful about what they choose to announce, it can be dangerous for their career. There has been a numerous amount of cases where an athlete post or says something that they should not have and it costs them their career. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If an athlete receives criticism through social media, it can affect their mental game. It can make them feel pressured or it can bring them down. Athletes are still considered human and can still get their feelings hurt. It`s not easy performing for your college, state, or even nation. Adding onto that, criticism is the last thing that athletes need. Regardless of how good or bad of a player you are, there will always be those fans that say rude and inappropriate comments on social media, there is no way to avoid it. A published study found that distractions and criticism can drain mental energy leading to a decrease in how good they perform (Cohn 1). The best thing for athletes to do is just ignore the criticism by not even going on social media at all. Social media makes athletes feel as if they need to perform good for online glory. It is proven that social media can become a distraction and interfere with an athlete`s ability to focus on their sport (Puymbroeck 1). Receiving distractions can provoke a negative mood and stress, which can then take up mental energy. The athlete will feel down and will not perform at their best. When the athletes goes on social media and reads comments and fans taunting them, they can feel as if they aren't good enough or that they don't belong on the team. • 13. Homophobia in American Beauty I watched the movie American Beauty a couple of days ago and saw how homophobia might be a sign that the homophobic might be a homosexual. So I though I'd write about it. American Beauty centers on the last year of Lester Burnham's life. Lester Burnham, played by Kevin Spacey, is married to Carolyn Burnham, played by Annette Betting, and their marriage is picture perfect on the outside, but the perfection is only superficially. Their marriage is based on projecting one image– a picture perfect suburbia lifestyle when it is in fact quite the opposite. Colonel Frank Fitts played by Chris Cooper, is the new neighbor who is presented as a homophobic man. He hates on and puts down the homosexual couple in the neighborhood constantly. So what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Men fear humiliation or weakness because they always have to present everyone this image of being though, dominant and dependent; men despise anything that goes against these traditional views of masculinity. This traditional thoughts lead to homophobia. The media is constantly portraying men in a violent or dominant way in the movies, TV shows, etc. Asians are almost always portrayed as martial artist or violent criminals and Latinos as boxers, criminals or though gangsters. Ever since the Colonel moved in he shows this extreme disgust towards homosexuals around his neighborhood. He even shows this behavior towards his son Ricky when he becomes suspicious of his (Ricky's) relationship with Lester. Probably when the Colonel was growing up, being gay was the worse and he tried to hide it from his parents and thought the army might help straighten him out and got married to try to appear like a normal man. At the end of the movie Frank believes he sees his son taking money from Lester for sexual favors and this results in Ricky leaving the house. Castañeda 3 The death of Lester Burnham is simply because he aroused his homophobic neighbor. Lester appears to be sexually available to men when he tells his neighbor: "Our (Lester's and Carolyn's) marriage is just for show...a commercial for how normal we are, when we're anything but..." He (Frank) attempts to kiss Lester, proving his hidden desire for men. In a quick recap of the film: new neighbors move into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kevin Rose: From Wunderkind to Wiseman Kevin Rose: From Wunderkind to Wiseman Millionaire entrepreneur Kevin Rose may not be as well–known as founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg or Twitter's founder Jack Dorsey, but he has been influential in the tech sphere for many years. Through his diverse career, Rose has exhibited many entrepreneurial traits ranging from calculated risk taking to the ability to see an opportunity in the market. He used his platform as the founder of Digg to start "Diggnation" which was produced by Rose's web television company, Revision3. "Diggnation" was a video podcast hosted by Kevin and his friend Alex Albrecht. The show was an informal discussion between Alex and Kevin which employed stories from Digg.com to guide the discussion through relevant "tech and cultural news" ("Robert"). Through his show, Kevin turned not only Digg, but himself as well, into brands. Rose, at times, leveraged the show to promote his ventures. Although Rose left Diggnation in 2011 and Discovery channel now owns Revision3, Rose's contributions have given him a large fan base in the tech enthusiast sphere. As a partner in Google Ventures, Rose is able to dedicate all his time to venture capitalism, granting his innovative intuition to fellow techies as they navigate starting their own companies. While Rose has certainly had an eventful life, a few common themes are apparent. One, he does not seem to be happy staying in one position or at one company for very long. He finds opportunity and jumps on it. Two, most of the opportunities he takes a chance on seem to work out. Entrepreneurs need to create their own luck. Kevin Mitnick, The Condor, The Darkside Hacker, The greatest hacker alive, whatever name he was given that pins him down as a perpetrator of the law, Kevin Mitnick still serves as an educator to enthusiasts in the world of Information Security. He unveils many secrets of the hacker in The Art of Deception. The Art of Intrusion takes a different twist from its predecessor. It looks at the attitude of the hacker and what drives them. Personally the book lacked the full degree of intrusions one is capable of. Looking at the resume Kevin Mitnick has, successful intruder, phenomenal social engineer, most wanted of the law, caught and convicted criminal, security consultant and finally company CEO, one would have expected his personal experiences and intrusions that finally landed him as the greatest hacker ever known by the media. With this the book lacked some sort of uniqueness because it was based on other stories of intrusions. Mitnick took different stories and merged lots of information through them which in turn ended up being more of an introduction course to types of security breaches than an in depth look at how hackers can breach security. This showed some form of incompleteness especially to a technical audience. For the non–technical it serves as a good read but not much is learnt and gained by the technical audience so I feel the target audience was blurred out. The stories seemed very fictional which again raised the suspicion of whether they were really true or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As machines get smarter in the 21th century, we give machines more permissions and freedom to do more things for us. However, the new generations that are born with all the advanced technologies they needed don't quite understanding the use of machines as we are more relying on them. The machines are quickly expanding and replacing our brains and bodies even it is a simple task to do. But if we step back a little and think that we are the inventors of these modern machines. Are we scare of machines taking over our societies or is it just our fear and curiosity that tricked us? Well, we now cannot live without machines. Human and machine are bonded together tightly that we can't identify who we really are. We become cyborg which is a more accurate term to describe who we are now. The reading "A Cyborg Manifesto" by Donna Haraway points out that we are cyborgs. There is no difference between human and machine and this boundary has been breached. Cyborgs are a hybrid of machine and organism. They often appear in the science fiction. Haraway describes that machines are now doing most of our works while we just sit back and watch them doing what they suppose to do. It feels like the machines are becoming alive and we are the one that rarely doing anything. However, we are still on the top of the hierarchy no matter how machines will change our lives, we are still on the top of the food chain. But even so, we can't ignore that ... During this time playing for the Thunder, Durant has won an NBA Most Valuable Player Award, four NBA scoring titles, the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, and two Olympic gold medals. He has also been selected to six All–NBA teams and seven All–Star teams. Durant helped lead Oklahoma City to the 2012 NBA Finals, losing to the Miami Heat in five games. You're in Iraq, a land you have studied yet still feel as unfamiliar with as a never–ending desert. Your drill sergeant is screaming at you to fire at your enemies. You freeze. This was not what you remember signing up for. You came to this foreign land because you wanted to defend yourself and because you love America. When aiming at stationary targets not firing back, you felt in control. You didn't really think about what you are doing then. In 2003, Mejia went on a leave of absence from Iraq and never returned because of his loathing of the abuse prisoners of war. He came out of hiding to face the army and was sentenced to one year in military prison. He proclaimed that he felt freer there than ever before. The disrespect from others that Mejia encountered was worth the great pride he had for himself. When making an imperative decision, you cannot please everyone. Sometimes you need to separate yourself from others. What your parents or friends preach is not necessarily what you should live by. Staying true to yourself is what is most important. At certain times, you have to delve deep to understand what really matters. Being someone who abandons their own ideals and only lives out the dreams and beliefs of others is not the right way to go through life. There's a chance you have a certain theory that no one else expresses, but is actually apprehended by many. Conveying particular feelings can allow others to feel comfortable in doing the same. It's easy to be misunderstood for following your conscience, especially when your actions might seem contradictory. Conscientious objectors, for example, are looked down by some people but are simply following their true beliefs. To an information technology (IT) professional, Social Engineering is a form of voluntary, unintentional identity theft. Many victims fail to realize they are being victimized until it is too late, while many others may never know. This paper will provide a definition of social engineering as it applies to information technology while introducing some the pioneers of social engineering; those who have, essentially, written the book on social engineering. We will provide real world examples of how social engineers apply their trade and provide important points to consider with regards to social engineering attacks. In conclusion we will propose counter–measures, which individuals and organizations should take in order to guard against social engineering. Social Engineering as defined by IT professionals is the practice of deceiving someone, either in person, over the phone or using a computer, with the express intent of breaching some level of security, either personal or professional (Ledford, 2011.) Mitnick's perspective comes from a social angle instead of a technological one, seeing as he is known as the greatest hacker all over media and most of his methods weren't technologically inclined but socially. A quick look into Mitnick's background, he was an only child who had a knack for understanding the Nitti Gritty of technology. As a child, he managed to 'hack' the bus system in Los Angeles and travel for free, exploited telephone networks as a teen and in college, infiltrated their network and was later hired because it was either that or expulsion. These are just a few of his many hacking exhibitions. He has served jail time because he realised what he did was wrong and is now helping companies avoid similar exploitations through his security company, public talks and through his books. In this day and age, where information is the new currency on the block, criminals are on the rise to acquire this information. The book highlights the different techniques and attacks of the social engineer and how easily we are persuaded into thinking that technology has secured us from these attacks. He shows these through a variety of stories that have actually happened as indications of our negligence to these attacks, but as well points out ways that we can protect ourselves from these attacks and become less victimized by the social engineer. • 41. To Each His Own by Leonardo Sciascia IB English 11 World Literature Essay – To Each His Own An anonymous person once said, "Who gossips with you will gossip of you". This quote is saying that whoever shares gossip with an individual about someone or something will not hesitate when talking about the same person with another individual. Gossip is in no way a new idea, since many people at one point in their lives have taken part in a conversation about another individual's personal business. Every day, especially in modern day society, many men and women are susceptible to gossip and its consequences. One major consequence includes false information being spread around, which causes people to become misled; this may eventually cause loss of a person's reputation. The way gossip can affect many different things is presented in a plethora of scenarios in life and literature. An analysis of literary terms and techniques in Leonardo Sciascia's novel To Each His Own demonstrates the idea that gossip in small towns may sometimes be extremely virulent since it is spreading false information and can affect one's reputation through the vilification of that person. According to the International Telecommunication Union, by the end of 2015 nearly half of the 7.2 billion people on the planet will have access to the internet (Internet Used by, 2015). The ability to log on to a computer and communicate via the internet has changed the way people interact. This real time ability made the world a much smaller place. As technology has advanced throughout history the ability of mankind to exploit the conveniences afforded by the technology has also advanced. While the advantages of the internet outweigh the disadvantages it would be irresponsible to overlook the negatives. The request for state/territory appointed representatives, statements of open consultation in development, through to what Brady and Kennedy (2010) refer to as 'hard policy', including the establishment of ACARA as a statutory body over all manner of educational policy and the linking of funding repercussions to the implementation of the Australian Curriculum (Schools Assistance Bill, National Education Agreement) has led to all educational organisations agreeing to the use of the impending curriculum documents. • 51. Women 's Suffrage Movement Of America Over the decades there has been an allure to the Western, no matter what form it is enjoyed. A good story about the misunderstood hero winning the day and riding off into the sunset never seems to stop bringing in the audiences. What really was the attraction of the Western in its heyday? From the early nineteenth century into the the 1950s, the Western attracted many readers and viewers to its genre. Sure there was gunfights, cowboys and Indians fighting over what each wanted from this harsh landscape that was the west. People were entranced by the mystery of the land that wanted to be tamed, or not. In all this mixture of heroes saving the town among wagon trains rolling over the plains, there was something else brewing in American minds. There were changes going on in America during the rise of the Western. Industrialization and social changes such as the women's suffrage movement had citizens looking for a new frontier to get answers from. The west offered the change in scenery, and an untouched society, and the freedom to reinvent oneself. Americans were seeing in the Western a way back to simpler times or a vision of breaking away from society and back to nature. In times of upheaval and change, people try to find a way to make sense of life changing. They also look towards visions of something that is akin to the "good ole days". I guess one can say it had to do with the stages of life that I went through. At times, I sought to admire individuals as a sense of community. Particularly, during my childhood, I spent much of my time admiring celebrities. From musicians to actors, I adored them. In fact, my pastel pink walls in my bedroom were hardly ever seen because they were covered with posters upon posters from my favorite pre–teen magazine. In the following paper I compare and contrast a speech made by each of them concerning foreign affairs and note the large similarity of ideology between each of them. All speeches support a strong relationship with the United States of America and active engagement in international affairs. I argue that they differ only in the nuance of emphasis although there is some evidence of traditional 'realist ' and 'liberal ' approaches to international politics. Howard concentrates on pragmatic state to state engagement for the benefit of Australians. Abbott focuses more on building up the military and physical security. Rudd is the only one of the three to emphasise that Australia 's foreign engagement should be for the benefit of others, as well as Australia. Overall, however, the speeches demonstrate a greater commonality of purpose and direction than they do divergent opinions. I argue the resulting stability of foreign policy engagement benefits not only Australia, but the rest of the world. The first speech of the three was given by John Howard. • 77. The Importance Of Population Development In Australia 200 years after Australia's Indigenous forcibly had to share their land, the growth of population and development that Australia has experienced is unprecedented. Currently Australia's population stands at 24 Million and it is on a continuous rise, due to a combination of both, a high birth rate and a significant number of immigrants per annum. As a multicultural nation, the immigration intake is a major factor, and is said to have generated just over half (56%) of population growth, this is due to the demand to settle permanently in Australia, work for an amount of time or study as student (Wilson, 2017). Furthermore, interest in population policy was once again visited in 2010, when the current Prime Minister Kevin Rudd proclaimed that he supported a 'Big Australia', along with a released prediction that by 2050 Australia's population would reach 36 Million (Brown, 2011, pp.1). However, the opposition leader Tony Abbott, took this opportunity to gather support from the public, and argued for a sustainable population policy, and calling Rudd out on a "reckless commitment", which Julia Gillard once Rudd was ousted, was also quick to favour, focusing her views on a sustainable approach to population growth (Brown, 2011, pp.2). The population policy debate is widely discussed and a driver for public concern, but the birth rate and the rate of net overseas migration is on a continuous high and both factors are relatively hard to control or predict.
