2. Discrete
• A discrete function/graph only consists of
certain distinct points – points that can be
counted or listed. (do NOT connect the
dots).
For instance, the number of students in my
classes throughout the day is a discrete function
(can’t have half of a student).
3. Continuous
• A continuous function/graph consists of all
points within a given interval (including up
to infinity).
For instance, the height of students in my classes
throughout the day is a continuous function (can
have decimal answers).
