3. INTRODUCTION:-
• A Tesla coil is a two stage transformer which high voltage, high frequency,
power generator, primarily built for conducting experiments and to observe
phenomenon associated with alternating electricity.
• With this coil, Tesla was able to generate voltages of such magnitude, they
would shoot out of the apparatus as bolts of lightning.
4. HISTORY:-
About 100 years ago Nikola Tesla invented
his "Tesla Coil".
Tesla invented his coil with the intention of
transmitting electricity through the air.

8. PRIMARY COIL:-
The primary coil is used

The secondary coil is used
with the top load to create
the secondary LC circuit.
Magnet wire is used to wind
the coil.
There’s always a little space
between turns, so the
equation assumes the coil
turns are 97% perfect.
10. TOP LOAD:-
The top load is used with
the secondary coil to create
the secondary LC circuit.
Generally a toroid or sphere
shape is used.
The ring diameter refers to
the widest length from
edge to edge of a toroid
shape.

Large DC smoothing capacitor is needed unless 3-phase power is used. Such
a capacitor is expensive, and stores High energy.
High voltage, high inductance charging inductor is needed. This is a
specialised part and may be difficult to obtain.
Requires a 3-phase supply to be most effective.
Current draw is non-sinusoidal.

18. CONCLUSION :-
After studying and developing the model of TESLA COIL we
came to following conclusion:-
We are able to generate high voltage with high frequency and it
can be used for testing the apparatus for switching surges.
It can also be used for study of visual corona and ionization of
gases under the electrical stress.
It can also transmit the electrical power wirelessly up to certain
distance depends upon its ratings.
