In this lesson we discuss Jesus Christ as a child to a man. We examine how He relates to us and is a faithful High priest. Both audio and slides can be found together at www.cmcoc.ort
4. The man Christ Jesus
✓He was born of woman
(Luke 1:30-31, Gal. 4:4)
✓He grew up from a child to
a man (Lk.2:39-40, 52)
✓He knew hunger and thirst
(Mt.4:2; Jn. 4:7)
✓He knew tiredness
(Jn.4:6)
✓He slept (Mt. 8:24)
✓He cried (Jn. 11:35)
✓He knew sorrow and grief
(Isa. 53:3-4, Lk.22:44)
✓He was slapped and spit
upon (Mt. 26:67)
✓He was whipped (Mt.
27:26)
5. The man Christ Jesus
• He died (crucified) and was put in a
grave (tomb).
• Luke 23:33 And when they came
to the place that is called The Skull,
there they crucified him, and the
criminals, one on his right and one
on his left
• Mark 15:46 And Joseph bought a
linen shroud, and taking him down,
wrapped him in the linen shroud
and laid him in a tomb that had
been cut out of the rock. And he
rolled a stone against the entrance
of the tomb.
6. The man Christ Jesus
• Philippians 2:5-10…turn with me please…
• He emptied himself does not mean that Jesus the
Christ stopped being God. He had every right to stay
in heaven where He was, but His love for us drove Him
to become flesh so that He could offer us grace (John
1:14).
• He emptied Himself of His spiritual form (Job 4:12-17)
and became a physical (flesh and blood) body so that
He could die on the cross for the sins of many!
7. The man Christ Jesus
• He was in all points tempted! …Hebrews 4:14-16…
• Hebrews 4:14-16 Therefore, since we have a great high priest
(Numbers 18:7) who has passed through the heavens, Jesus
the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession (1 Timothy 6:13;
John 18:33-37; Acts 8:37).
• For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with
our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as
we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with
confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy
and find grace to help in time of need.
8. Application
• As a man Jesus endured the same things you and I do
and even more. He more than proves Himself to be a
faithful judge (Matthew 25:31-46)!
• As a man Jesus lived his life above reproach!
• Matthew 3:13-15 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the
Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. 14 John would
have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by
you, and do you come to me?” 15 But Jesus answered
him, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill
all righteousness.” Then he consented
9. Application
• God sent Jesus into this world to declare His will to us, to
redeem us and show his lovingkindness, justice, and
righteousness on earth.
• Jeremiah 9:23-24 Thus says the Lord, “Let not a wise
man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man
boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches;
but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands
and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises
lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth;
for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord.
