This is Part 5 of the message series EXPLORE GOD. This series is designed to help answer the 7 biggest questions of life. The fifth question is this: "IS JESUS REALLY GOD?" In this message, Pastor Chuck Bernal discusses the four major Christological passages in the New Testament and how they reflect the deity of Christ through creation, revelation, demonstration and exaltation. This message was delivered on October 11, 2015 at LifePointe Church in Crowley, TX.

1. IS JESUS REALLY GOD?
Message Series – Explore God
Part 5 – 10-11-15 - Pastor Chuck Bernal
LIFE’S MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION –
WHO IS JESUS?
Jesus asked his followers, “Who dopeople say the Son of Man is?”
They answered, “Some say you are John the Baptist. Others say
Elijah, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” Then Jesus asked
them, “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living
God.” Jesus answered, “You are blessed, Simon because no person taught you that. My Father in
heaven showed youwhoIam. (Matthew16:13-17–NCV)

Before the world began, the Word was there. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.He
was there with God in the beginning.Everything was made through him, and nothing was made
without him . . . No one has ever seen God. The only Son is the one who has shown us what God is
like.He ishimselfGod and isveryclose to the Father. (John 1:1-3,18 –ETRV)
Long ago God spoke in manydifferent waysto our fathers through the prophets, in visions, dreams,
and even face to face, telling them little by little about his plans. But now in these days he has
spoken to us through his Son to whom he has given everything and through whom he made the
world and everything there is. God’s Son shines out with God’s glory, and all that God’s Son isand
does marks him asGod. He regulates the universe by the mighty power of his command. He is the
one whodied to cleanse us and clear our record of all sin,and then satdown in highesthonor beside
the great God ofheaven. (Hebrews1:1-3 –LB)
Christ was truly God. But he did not try to remain equal with God. Instead he gave up everything
and became a slave, when he became like one of us. He obeyed God and even died on a cross. Then
God gave Christthe highest place and honored his name above all others. So at the name of
Jesus everyone will bow down, in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. And everyone will openly
agree,“JesusChrist isLord!”.
(Philippians 2:5-10 – CEV)
2. No one can see God, but the Son is exactly like God.He rules over everything that has been made.
Through his power all things were made: things in heaven and on earth, seen and not seen . . .
Everything was made through himand for him.The Son was there before anything was made. And
all things continue because of him. He is the head of the body, which is the church. He is the
beginning of everything else. And he is the first among all who will be raised from death. So in
everything he is most important. God waspleased for all of himself to live in the Son. And through
him, God was happy to bring all things back to himself again— things on earth and things in
heaven. God made peace by using the blood sacrifice of his Son on the cross. (Colossians 1:15-20 –
ETRV)

Jesus Christ claimed to be __________________________________
Jesus said, “My Father is still working all the time so Iam workingalso.” The Jews tried all the more
to kill Him, not only because He had worked on the Day ofRest, but because He had also called God
HisOwn Father.Thismade Himthe same asGod.
(John 5:17-18 – NLV)
Jesus Christ died a __________________________________ death
Jesus Christ rescued us from this evil world we’re in by offering himself as a sacrifice for our sins.
God’splan isthatwe allexperience thatrescue.(Galatians1:4 –Msg)
Jesus Christ _________________________________________ again
I gave you the message that I received. I told you the most important truths: that Christ died for our
sins, that he was buried and was raised to life on the third day, as the Scriptures say . . . We tell
everyone that Christ was raised from death . . . if Christhasneverbeen raised, then the message we
tell isworth nothing. And yourfaith isworth nothing. (1 Corinthians15:3-4,12,14 –ETRV)
Jesus Christ alone can ____________________________ us to God
Christsuffered for our sinsonce for alltime. He neversinned, buthe died forsinners tobringyou
safelyhome to God.(1 Peter 3:18 –NLT)
And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given
among people by which we must be saved [for God has provided the world no alternative for
salvation].(Acts4:12 –Amp)
Jesus said to him, “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one
comes to the Fatherbut through Me.” (John 14:6 –Amp)
He wants all people to be saved and to know what is true. There is one God. There is also only one
man who can open the waybetween God and allpeople. That man is Christ Jesus. He gave his life to
set allmen free.(1 Timothy2:4-6 –WEB)
