■ Main goal: Promoting literacy to
school-aged children.
■ Secondary goals:
– Providing activities to stimulate
motor skills
– Providing fun educational games
and activities
– Encouraging a love for self-
expression through theatre
5. Action Plan
■ Main action plan: Create a system that
motivates children to read books daily.
– Encourage children to read a book
– Reward them with games and
activities after Reading
– Have them present a summary of the
book they read to earn a sticker/point
– The children with the most points have
a prize at the end of the month
– Staff and volunteers offer support
throughout the process
6. Reflection andValues
■ My experience in the library has been very educational. I have been able to identify many
psychological patterns in the way children of different age groups act, especially related
with literacy.
■ Additionally, I feel like I have been become a lot more aware about how different social
environments can affect a child’s upbringing.
■ All in all, I feel like the library has a very positive influence on these children’s lives. I feel
like we are really helping them foster a love for reading.
