My Core Values Essay
Most people have core values that make up who they are. Many don't realize that it influences their life decisions every day. Everyone is different
which means they have different values. My core values that make up who I am, have connections to each other in my point of view. They mostly
come from the way I was raised and taught by my parents. The main and most important people in my life either protect my core values or distract me
from them. The values that define who I am are honesty from the people I associate with and my family, autonomy because I've always seen myself as
an independent person, Success that is my motivation in life, and self respect because if I want others to respect me, I have to respect myself.
Honesty is my...show more content...
My parents actually distract me from this value. They don't believe it's a great idea that I move out, they want me to live with them till I get
married. They also didn't want me to get a job, they would tell me to quit and that there was no need for me to be working at such a young age. But
I wanted to and I learned from them, to work hard for everything I have or want. I know my mother has been working since she was fifteen and my
father since he was thirteen, so I say I get my hard working skills from them. But no matter what they say I will always be very autonomous.
My success is what I look forward to and what motivates me in school and work. My first step towards success is graduating high school and then
college and so on. This will lead to my happiness because I'll get what I've always wanted and dreamed of. This also leads to another minor value I
have which is wealth, being successful means I'll have my dream job and living in luxury which is why wealth would be important to me. My
parents and my managers from work protect this value. My parents have always been very supportive of my dreams and want me to be successful.
They have always been very strict about school until it became my own choice to try hard and go to college. My managers push me hard at work so I
can improve and then be a manager as well. They also support me by letting me have days off for school work and giving scholarship money for
school. Everything I do now is for my future

Vission, Mission & Core Values Essay
What makes the truly exceptional companies different from the other companies? How can Disney get 38,000 employees to operate as one, to react to
thousands of different situations a day В– yet consistently? How did Dee Hock create an entirely new type of organization, VISA, which now
dominates financial transactions across the world with a seamless service? Vision, mission & core values, which are aligned through all recruitment,

Warren Bennis, a noted writer on leadership, says: "To choose a direction, an executive must have developed a mental image of the possible and
desirable future state of the organization. This image, which we call a vision, may be as vague as a dream or as precise as a goal or a mission statement."
A vision helps unite people towards a purpose. Creating and living a vision is the role of leaders in organizations. They have to espouse it and help
others to believe it.
Visions are aesthetic and moral; they come from within as well as outside.
According to Disney, a successful vision accomplishes six goals:
В• gives a sense of the future
В• guides decision making
В• creates a shared purpose
В• provides guidelines that determine behavior
В• inspires emotion
В• connects to values
Mission
Mission is the "WHY?" the organization's answer to the question, "Why do we exist?"
A mission statement is an organization's vision translated into written form. It is a unifying statement of what an organization is in business to do. It is
a key reference point in the planning and implementation of change.
It makes concrete the leader's view of the direction and purpose of the organization. For many corporate leaders it is a vital element in any attempt to
motivate employees and to give them a sense of priorities.
A mission statement should be a short and concise statement

5 Core Values
This is my second semester at Rowan University and over my time here I have truly grown as a student. I have grown and learned more than I thought
possible inside and outside of the classroom, resulting in me becoming a better critical thinker. I graduated number seventh of my graduating class at
Central High School in Newark NJ already knowing that I wanted to study business management prior to going to school for culinary arts. I graduated
haven taken numerous English courses including AP English believing that I had the foundation to write any and every type of paper. CC2 this semester
has taught me a lot about the art of literature and language, and the process of writing. Overall with the help of the five core values, I have learned how

Core value number five is, "Understand the ethical dimensions of writing", meaning that there are a plethora of perspectives when writing and an
effort must be made to compensate for them and evaluate all facts presented. I had to take into consideration community standards in regards to the
value of life, the difference in meanings of terms to society, and the quality of community living in certain areas. An example of this is in paper two
where I had to acknowledge that the Black community has a lot of violence occurring amongst one another, giving a reason for people to have a
mindset when in it. But, I also had to remember that judgements like this will remain as long people just accept them.
Overall, as a student prior to taking CC2 I knew my ability to write and express my ideas, thoughts and knowledge, and since then I have grown
stronger over this semester. There are still many concepts and skills that I lack confidence but because of this course I have become a better critical
thinker. I know that as a result of taking CC2 I can share my knowledge and ideas with other people who may have no idea what I am talking about.
In conculsion, I am satisfied with the progression I made over this

My Core Values
As I have grown as an adult and moved further towards success in my life, I have always maintained a guided structure to achieve goals and tasks
that challenge me. I call these my "Core Values". This is a strict regimen or a belief system that I have instilled into my everyday practice to complete
any task that presents itself. Although not perfected, I have found this method to be quite successful. My work ethic, responsibility, and my drive to
further my education and knowledge have never failed me. Life can seem tough and demanding on a very consistent basis, but I believe that I have
cultivated a plan to accommodate and withstand any trial

To build responsibility as a child I volunteered to take care of my family dog. Even though she was the family's pet I took it upon myself to make sure
she was properly fed, watered, and walked. My mother was very proud of my new development as an adolescent. She became very encouraging and
would come up with other special chores around the house that I could be relied upon to handle. To some children this would seem like a
punishment, but both of my parents were so supportive and persuasive that I looked forward to having the gained accountability. My father
instituted honesty and respect as monuments for responsibility. I of course struggled at times with taking care of my dog, and handling some of
my other chores. But my father always wanted me to not only be honest with my parents, but also with myself. He stated that a lie would not
benefit anybody and it was disrespectful to tell a lie. He would tell me that a liar was the same as a cheater, and nobody liked either. If I knew how
to respect others and be honest, than my responsibility would only increase. I asked why I would want added responsibility and my father told me
two things that changed my perspective completely. First, it was that responsible people always tended to be more successful. Since I had always
dreamed of growing up to be rich and famous, I guess I could accept the added responsibility. The second thing he told me was that one day I could

Navy Core Values Essay
The Navy Core Values have come to be a part of my everyday life inside and outside of my JROTC unit. They have helped me to develop a sense of
pride in myself and everything that I am a part of, including other clubs and organizations, by emphasizing the importance of being accountable for the
actions of not only myself, but also of individuals who I am responsible for. As a first–year cadet, the Core Values were taught to me by my instructors
and now, three years later, I am the one who has become the teacher for my cadets and peers as the Commanding Officer of my unit. I have always
held myself to very high standards in a moral and ethical standpoint. The Core Values have helped me to refine those standards to a point where
they can progress and change as they may need to as my role as a citizen changes. I am only a member in most of the other clubs and organizations I
am a part of; however, I am generally the person who they ask to help organize events and look after important items that they would generally not
entrust to students. This is specifically because of my role in JROTC and my heightened sense of responsibility from the values that I am taught in the
program. As I graduate from high school, I will need to once...show more content...

Essay about My Core Values and How I Learned Them
What are your core values?
My core values consist of the following: accomplishment, benevolent, determined, gallant, helpful, merciful, opportunity, optimistic, perseverance and
vigorous.
Where/how did you learn these values? I had learned these core values from my family, teachers/professors, peers and myself. While I was
younger to the age I am now, I was shown how important it is to have strong characteristics that make you a person. Everything I had been through
I had lost and gain some of the values along the way of my life. I will admit not all of these came at once; it took much time to see the importance of

A lot of these values can agree with the values in social work practice. By having a strong and positive outlook for myself will show me that I can work
with those that are non–positive people and some that don't see a direction and help them out. I might not know exactly how I will be able to do so
right away, but if me and the client work together things can be done for the better. By seeing how I pushed myself can let me see how I can let
others have a good outcome as well. For instance, looking at the dignity and worth of the person is going to have one of the strongest ways that a
person seeking for help can change or get better for the best.
In what areas do your values diverge from social work values? However, there are ways that my bias comes into play when it comes to social work
values. When I think something is right, it might actually be wrong due to the values social work has. Once I learn to set my personal matters
behind I actually could see what needs to be addressed. Since I am unaware of what all my biases are on top of my head, I still have time to learn
about them and put them aside to help the client I am working with. I don't want the client to think that if I put my values into it, I'm not focusing on
them when I'm there to help the client achieve after what needs done. If I think something is right with my values, it actually might not be the right
way to handle a situation. Due to the values social workers have it shows us more of

Core values shape who I am as a person. The values that are important to me are faith, determination, optimism, happiness and humor. These values
help me to determine what is truly important to me and guide me in good decision making. My family has handed down these values from generation
to generation. Faith is number one on my list. In 2009, when I was 12 years old I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and stroke. Although I was in a
coma, I know that the one thing that my family held on to was faith in God and faith that things would be okay. That doesn't mean that things were

There is no sense in dwelling on the challenging things that have happened to me. Humor is probably my favorite value. I consider myself a
pretty comical guy. No matter what's going on in life, a little comic relief helps to alleviate the stress associated with life's trials and misfortunes.
I've been told that I'm funny even when I'm not trying to be. What happened to me in 2009 has made me appreciate every single day. I'm thankful
that I get to see a new day, have new experiences and make new memories with those that I hold dear. On the contrary, one of the core values that I
don't hold dear is power. I don't believe that I need power to live a positive life or to help me in making good decisions. Power isn't necessarily a
bad value to have as it may help someone to get ahead in their professional life, but it isn't on my list of top core values. Faith, determination,
optimism, happiness and humor are values that make me an individual. It's important to have set values as they are guiding principles in the way
we live our lives and how we handle stressful situations or moral dilemmas. We learn these core principles from those close to us and we learn them
at an early age. These principles delineate important factors in our lives and make it easier to overcome our difficulties. What values do you live by?

My Core Values
My Core Values Core values are a person or an organization's fundamental beliefs, these principles prescribe behavior along with helping people
understand the difference between right and wrong, "values are what motivate you in life. They are what guide you along the path of fulfilment,
so essentially your values are the foundation of who you are" (C.Worsley). These values are important to have because they are what shape you,
they make every person unique. Having a spirit of adventure, perseverance, and having patience are only some of my core values. Knowing what
you cherish is very important and is something many people should revise. Being adventurous is how you start to understand who you really are.
Many people believe it is dangerous to travel, not worth it. But I believe, the world is dangerous. There are shootings everyday but getting out
there and risking it is just living. Being adventurous shows you how others have to live, what so many people deal with every day. Or what so
many people get to see every day, the beautiful yet cruel world we live in. There is a purpose for everything here, it is meant to be seen. We are not
here to work everyday and then go home to rest and do it all over again, we were made to make a difference and to understand the world. Mountains
were made to climb, oceans were made to be seen, and landmarks were too, "in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a

The Importance Of Values In Counseling
Values, which may be described as an individual's principle behavioral standards, are needs that work to support an individual's purpose and vision.
Values guide in decision making and are the beliefs between things that are right and good and things that are wrong and bad. In the helping
profession values determine why individuals choose their profession, the choice of their therapeutic modalities, the populations that they chosen to
work with, and the interactions with clients and other professionals (Patterson , 1998). Values of the helping professional can cause ethical
implications if expressed to a client, calls for action when confronted with the different values of clients, holds precedent in consideration for a
referral, and what to do if a referral is not an option. Counselors possess their own personal values and follow the ethical code regarding those values.
This code of ethics as laid out in the ACA Code of Ethics (2014) states in standard A.4.b. "Counselors are aware of–and avoid imposing–their own
values, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors" (p.5). Not following this standard and expressing personal values, even unconsciously to a client, can hold a
counseling relationship hostage in several ways. These include conflicts of interest, undue influence, taking their empowerment away, stealing an
environment to explore their own values, and cultural insensitivity (Corey, Corey, Corey, & Pallaman, 2015; Patterson, 1998). There will be
situations in a counseling professional's career where they may be confronted with clients who have different values than their own, but there are
actions that a counselor may take. Different values in the counseling relationship can manifest itself in many life issues such as abortion. This can be
difficult for counselors who may have a value clash with this life issue. Counselors are obligated in this situation to abide by legal and ethical laws
first. Legally they must exercise "reasonable care" to avoid negligence accusations from the client and follow all state laws in their practice. This
includes what to do if they are a minor. Ethically they must first identify their own values regarding abortion before they treat the client (Corey et al.,

The Core Values Of Courage
Every society has a deep–seated web of beliefs, these beliefs are also known as core values. These core values help keep society in a collaboration if
all the individuals involved believe in the same common core values. These core values dictate rules and help individuals distinguish what is right or
wrong. In the eyes of a college English class, honesty, courage, empathy, integrity and perseverance are tightly woven into the classes web of beliefs.
Courage itself doesn't dictate what is right from wrong, courage is as fierce as a doubled edged sword, one side contrasting the other; but it is up to
the individual to determine its use.
What is courage? The original Middle English meaning of the word courage was "To speak one's mind by telling all one's heart." Over time the
word courage has evolved, and society now views the word courage very differently than it did a few hundred years ago. According to the
Merriam–Webster Dictionary, the definition of courage is defined as, "mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or
difficulty." This definition can be further broken down for English language learners as,...show more content...

My Core Values: Honesty, Prayer, Bible, and Evangelism Most people and organizations have their own core values; for example, one of Apple's
core values according to Tim Cook Apple's CEO is simple, not the complex (Apple core values, n.d.). Martin Luther King's core values was that his
children live in a colorblind society (Garris, 2006). Core values play a great role for organizations to achieve their mutual goal. Therefore, to become
a good leader, leaders must know what their core values are. Liard (2013) defines value as "enduring beliefs and feelings about what is preferable.

I am a Christian and pastor, so I try to think everything from Christianity perspective. "What would Jesus do?" is the guideline of my life. Therefore,
honesty, prayer, the Bible, and evangelism are core values of my life, which can make God pleased. Honesty is very important for relationship
with other and God. Prayer and the Bible guide me to go the way that God wants. I should live for evangelism because it is God's vision. What God
wants the most is that all of sinners come back to Him. He sent His only son for sinners. Therefore, I should preach the gospel to people. Lectures
and books based on Christianity perspective are very helpful for guiding my decision making. Hill (2008) describes three ethics that God has:
holiness, justice, and love. These three core elements guide people to make better decision. Thus, the core elements influence my core values.
Honesty one of my core values needs holiness. To be honest before God, holiness is crucial. Moreover, love is essential to preach the gospel to people,
because I cannot evangelize without love.
As I mentioned, my core values are honesty, prayer, bible, and evangelism. First, I always try to be honest with others, myself, and God, but I think
that being honest before God is the most important. It is easier for people to be honest with others, but it is very difficult to be before God because He

My Personal Values
My personal values act as a basis for distinguishing between right and wrong and thus, determine my daily actions and emotions. My mom and
education have played profound roles in the development of my core personal values: personal integrity, responsibility, and ambition. Additionally,
these influences have demonstrated that the rule–based approach determined what conduct is consistent with these key values.
Before I was the age of 6, my parents were divorced. Ever since moving back to Pennsylvania in 2004, I have been living with my mom. As a child,
my mom taught me to not be dishonest, disrespectful, or self–centered, since they all are morally incorrect in today's society. My mom's ultimate goal
is that all individuals deserve their respect regardless of it's age, race, sex, or religion. Her stern belief that "it takes all types to make the world go
'round" has influenced me to use the rights approach from Immanuel Kant and others like him, to focus on the rights of other individuals. "According to
these philosophers, what makes human beings different from mere things is that people have dignity based on their ability to choose freely what they
will do with their lives, and they have a fundamental moral right to have these choices respected. People are not objects to be manipulated; it is a
violation of human dignity to use people in ways they do not freely choose" (Thinking Ethically). Understanding that I am a current undergraduate

Core Values Analysis
Describe your previous experiences with our core values
Rowan University's five core values of the first–year writing program are something that is unfamiliar to me. Although I have completed my intensive
college composition 1 class last semester we never went over this information in the course. After reviewing many of the core values I can still see
how they can relate to my past experiences with other classes I may have taken. This semester I hope to use this as a prompt to guide me whenever I am
writing to ensure that my essays' are well written.
Core value 1, Understanding that writing is a practice which involves a multi–stage, recursive and social process. Writing is a process which takes time
and multiple revisions to improve on your argument in your paper, but also knowing that you're finally draft is still never complete. Like the core

question or leads to a question and writing is a way of responding with your own ideas supported by facts which also incorporates some of your
opinions. These responses come after you have read a text and analyzed the information you were given in the text. I have done assignments in many
of my past writing courses where I was given a text of someone who had an opinion and I was asked to respond to the text whether agreeing or

Core and main beliefs and values in all relationships

Whether we are aware of them or not, every individual has his or her core set of values, which consist of many different kinds of values. Each

background. Values are important to us because they reflect our personal moral standards, shape our behavior, and guide us through long life journeys.

truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions." It generally means not intentionally harming others, not stealing from, not cheating, or being fair to, others. I
value integrity because it manifests a person's inner strength, honor, kindness, and geniuses of one's soul. According to Kantian moral perspective
whether an action is morally good or not depends primarily in the intentions of the agent performing the

Development of My Personal Core Values Essay
Personal values are something which we develop through the course of life; they can change over time and may be influenced by our family,
friends, culture, religion and the media. Personal values develop through experience and development, they impact our personal lives as well as our
professional lives. This essay will look at my personal values, how they were shaped through the course of my life and the influence on my view of
society and the role of the practitioner. Conclusively, I will outline my professional development by making reference to Kohl's experiential learning
model in addition, to my personal reflection on my development so far. The family is the main agent of socialisation and an institution. (Giddens,
2013:339). As...show more content...
In my view, I support their decision as this goes against their beliefs. However, I also believe the happiness, health and wellbeing of individuals
should be respected, and they should have the right to marry. Therefore, as an emerging professional we must be aware of diversity and bare this
in mind when working with individuals and communities. It is important to remember that lives are shaped, by the way, in which we were
socialised. This is a major part in how we develop. Primary socialisation is the first phase which occurs in early infancy. The family plays a vital
role in teaching the infant the norms and values of their cultures. Secondary socialisation is the next stage we go through, and our values and beliefs
come from the education system, peer groups and the mass media. Most societies do not have a single culture but an array of subcultures which is
different from other members of society. (Haralambos & Holborn 2009:1) Social class along with religion and ethnicity is a part in the socialisation
process and outcomes for individuals. A person's social class is a determining factor of their life chances and as such varying degrees of inequalities
exist in modern day society. Research suggests My education brought disabilities to my attention. My primary school had a unit for deaf children within
it, something which was unusual back then. I can remember when told of this and there being a

My Core Values Essay

  • 1. My Core Values Essay Most people have core values that make up who they are. Many don't realize that it influences their life decisions every day. Everyone is different which means they have different values. My core values that make up who I am, have connections to each other in my point of view. They mostly come from the way I was raised and taught by my parents. The main and most important people in my life either protect my core values or distract me from them. The values that define who I am are honesty from the people I associate with and my family, autonomy because I've always seen myself as an independent person, Success that is my motivation in life, and self respect because if I want others to respect me, I have to respect myself. Honesty is my...show more content... My parents actually distract me from this value. They don't believe it's a great idea that I move out, they want me to live with them till I get married. They also didn't want me to get a job, they would tell me to quit and that there was no need for me to be working at such a young age. But I wanted to and I learned from them, to work hard for everything I have or want. I know my mother has been working since she was fifteen and my father since he was thirteen, so I say I get my hard working skills from them. But no matter what they say I will always be very autonomous. My success is what I look forward to and what motivates me in school and work. My first step towards success is graduating high school and then college and so on. This will lead to my happiness because I'll get what I've always wanted and dreamed of. This also leads to another minor value I have which is wealth, being successful means I'll have my dream job and living in luxury which is why wealth would be important to me. My parents and my managers from work protect this value. My parents have always been very supportive of my dreams and want me to be successful. They have always been very strict about school until it became my own choice to try hard and go to college. My managers push me hard at work so I can improve and then be a manager as well. They also support me by letting me have days off for school work and giving scholarship money for school. Everything I do now is for my future Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Vission, Mission & Core Values Essay What makes the truly exceptional companies different from the other companies? How can Disney get 38,000 employees to operate as one, to react to thousands of different situations a day В– yet consistently? How did Dee Hock create an entirely new type of organization, VISA, which now dominates financial transactions across the world with a seamless service? Vision, mission & core values, which are aligned through all recruitment, training, controls and decision making. Developing a vision, mission and values is the foundation for long term success. If a vision and mission is recognized by all stakeholders and affects every hiring, strategic decision and communication; its effect can be magic. Developing a vision, mission and values is a...show more content... Warren Bennis, a noted writer on leadership, says: "To choose a direction, an executive must have developed a mental image of the possible and desirable future state of the organization. This image, which we call a vision, may be as vague as a dream or as precise as a goal or a mission statement." A vision helps unite people towards a purpose. Creating and living a vision is the role of leaders in organizations. They have to espouse it and help others to believe it. Visions are aesthetic and moral; they come from within as well as outside. According to Disney, a successful vision accomplishes six goals: В• gives a sense of the future В• guides decision making В• creates a shared purpose В• provides guidelines that determine behavior В• inspires emotion В• connects to values Mission Mission is the "WHY?" the organization's answer to the question, "Why do we exist?" A mission statement is an organization's vision translated into written form. It is a unifying statement of what an organization is in business to do. It is a key reference point in the planning and implementation of change. It makes concrete the leader's view of the direction and purpose of the organization. For many corporate leaders it is a vital element in any attempt to motivate employees and to give them a sense of priorities. A mission statement should be a short and concise statement

I have grown and learned more than I thought possible inside and outside of the classroom, resulting in me becoming a better critical thinker. I graduated number seventh of my graduating class at Central High School in Newark NJ already knowing that I wanted to study business management prior to going to school for culinary arts. I graduated haven taken numerous English courses including AP English believing that I had the foundation to write any and every type of paper. CC2 this semester has taught me a lot about the art of literature and language, and the process of writing. Overall with the help of the five core values, I have learned how ...show more content... Core value number five is, "Understand the ethical dimensions of writing", meaning that there are a plethora of perspectives when writing and an effort must be made to compensate for them and evaluate all facts presented. I had to take into consideration community standards in regards to the value of life, the difference in meanings of terms to society, and the quality of community living in certain areas. An example of this is in paper two where I had to acknowledge that the Black community has a lot of violence occurring amongst one another, giving a reason for people to have a mindset when in it. But, I also had to remember that judgements like this will remain as long people just accept them. Overall, as a student prior to taking CC2 I knew my ability to write and express my ideas, thoughts and knowledge, and since then I have grown stronger over this semester. There are still many concepts and skills that I lack confidence but because of this course I have become a better critical thinker. I know that as a result of taking CC2 I can share my knowledge and ideas with other people who may have no idea what I am talking about. In conculsion, I am satisfied with the progression I made over this Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Essay about My Core Values Tamneicha Mcdavid Prof.Beck ENC 1101 July 30, 2009 Example Essay My Core Values As I have grown as an adult and moved further towards success in my life, I have always maintained a guided structure to achieve goals and tasks that challenge me. I call these my "Core Values". This is a strict regimen or a belief system that I have instilled into my everyday practice to complete any task that presents itself. Although not perfected, I have found this method to be quite successful. My work ethic, responsibility, and my drive to further my education and knowledge have never failed me. To build responsibility as a child I volunteered to take care of my family dog. Even though she was the family's pet I took it upon myself to make sure she was properly fed, watered, and walked. My mother was very proud of my new development as an adolescent. She became very encouraging and would come up with other special chores around the house that I could be relied upon to handle. To some children this would seem like a punishment, but both of my parents were so supportive and persuasive that I looked forward to having the gained accountability. My father instituted honesty and respect as monuments for responsibility. I of course struggled at times with taking care of my dog, and handling some of my other chores. But my father always wanted me to not only be honest with my parents, but also with myself. He stated that a lie would not benefit anybody and it was disrespectful to tell a lie. He would tell me that a liar was the same as a cheater, and nobody liked either. If I knew how to respect others and be honest, than my responsibility would only increase. I asked why I would want added responsibility and my father told me two things that changed my perspective completely. First, it was that responsible people always tended to be more successful. Since I had always dreamed of growing up to be rich and famous, I guess I could accept the added responsibility. The second thing he told me was that one day I could possibly

  • 7. Navy Core Values Essay The Navy Core Values have come to be a part of my everyday life inside and outside of my JROTC unit. They have helped me to develop a sense of pride in myself and everything that I am a part of, including other clubs and organizations, by emphasizing the importance of being accountable for the actions of not only myself, but also of individuals who I am responsible for. As a first–year cadet, the Core Values were taught to me by my instructors and now, three years later, I am the one who has become the teacher for my cadets and peers as the Commanding Officer of my unit. I have always held myself to very high standards in a moral and ethical standpoint. The Core Values have helped me to refine those standards to a point where they can progress and change as they may need to as my role as a citizen changes. I am only a member in most of the other clubs and organizations I am a part of; however, I am generally the person who they ask to help organize events and look after important items that they would generally not entrust to students. • 8. Essay about My Core Values and How I Learned Them What are your core values? My core values consist of the following: accomplishment, benevolent, determined, gallant, helpful, merciful, opportunity, optimistic, perseverance and vigorous. Where/how did you learn these values? I had learned these core values from my family, teachers/professors, peers and myself. While I was younger to the age I am now, I was shown how important it is to have strong characteristics that make you a person. Everything I had been through I had lost and gain some of the values along the way of my life. I will admit not all of these came at once; it took much time to see the importance of my life and progress what's left in it. By having a strong and positive outlook for myself will show me that I can work with those that are non–positive people and some that don't see a direction and help them out. I might not know exactly how I will be able to do so right away, but if me and the client work together things can be done for the better. By seeing how I pushed myself can let me see how I can let others have a good outcome as well. For instance, looking at the dignity and worth of the person is going to have one of the strongest ways that a person seeking for help can change or get better for the best. In what areas do your values diverge from social work values? However, there are ways that my bias comes into play when it comes to social work values. When I think something is right, it might actually be wrong due to the values social work has. Once I learn to set my personal matters behind I actually could see what needs to be addressed. Since I am unaware of what all my biases are on top of my head, I still have time to learn about them and put them aside to help the client I am working with. I don't want the client to think that if I put my values into it, I'm not focusing on them when I'm there to help the client achieve after what needs done. If I think something is right with my values, it actually might not be the right way to handle a situation. These values help me to determine what is truly important to me and guide me in good decision making. My family has handed down these values from generation to generation. Faith is number one on my list. In 2009, when I was 12 years old I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and stroke. Although I was in a coma, I know that the one thing that my family held on to was faith in God and faith that things would be okay. As I understand it, determination is what keeps us going,...show more content... There is no sense in dwelling on the challenging things that have happened to me. Humor is probably my favorite value. I consider myself a pretty comical guy. No matter what's going on in life, a little comic relief helps to alleviate the stress associated with life's trials and misfortunes. I've been told that I'm funny even when I'm not trying to be. What happened to me in 2009 has made me appreciate every single day. I'm thankful that I get to see a new day, have new experiences and make new memories with those that I hold dear. On the contrary, one of the core values that I don't hold dear is power. I don't believe that I need power to live a positive life or to help me in making good decisions. Power isn't necessarily a bad value to have as it may help someone to get ahead in their professional life, but it isn't on my list of top core values. Faith, determination, optimism, happiness and humor are values that make me an individual. It's important to have set values as they are guiding principles in the way we live our lives and how we handle stressful situations or moral dilemmas. We learn these core principles from those close to us and we learn them at an early age. These principles delineate important factors in our lives and make it easier to overcome our difficulties. • 10. My Core Values My Core Values Core values are a person or an organization's fundamental beliefs, these principles prescribe behavior along with helping people understand the difference between right and wrong, "values are what motivate you in life. They are what guide you along the path of fulfilment, so essentially your values are the foundation of who you are" (C.Worsley). These values are important to have because they are what shape you, they make every person unique. Having a spirit of adventure, perseverance, and having patience are only some of my core values. Knowing what you cherish is very important and is something many people should revise. Being adventurous is how you start to understand who you really are. Many people believe it is dangerous to travel, not worth it. But I believe, the world is dangerous. There are shootings everyday but getting out there and risking it is just living. Being adventurous shows you how others have to live, what so many people deal with every day. Or what so many people get to see every day, the beautiful yet cruel world we live in. There is a purpose for everything here, it is meant to be seen. We are not here to work everyday and then go home to rest and do it all over again, we were made to make a difference and to understand the world. Mountains were made to climb, oceans were made to be seen, and landmarks were too, "in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. • 11. The Importance Of Values In Counseling Values, which may be described as an individual's principle behavioral standards, are needs that work to support an individual's purpose and vision. Values guide in decision making and are the beliefs between things that are right and good and things that are wrong and bad. In the helping profession values determine why individuals choose their profession, the choice of their therapeutic modalities, the populations that they chosen to work with, and the interactions with clients and other professionals (Patterson , 1998). Values of the helping professional can cause ethical implications if expressed to a client, calls for action when confronted with the different values of clients, holds precedent in consideration for a referral, and what to do if a referral is not an option. Counselors possess their own personal values and follow the ethical code regarding those values. This code of ethics as laid out in the ACA Code of Ethics (2014) states in standard A.4.b. "Counselors are aware of–and avoid imposing–their own values, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors" (p.5). Not following this standard and expressing personal values, even unconsciously to a client, can hold a counseling relationship hostage in several ways. These include conflicts of interest, undue influence, taking their empowerment away, stealing an environment to explore their own values, and cultural insensitivity (Corey, Corey, Corey, & Pallaman, 2015; Patterson, 1998). There will be situations in a counseling professional's career where they may be confronted with clients who have different values than their own, but there are actions that a counselor may take. Different values in the counseling relationship can manifest itself in many life issues such as abortion. This can be difficult for counselors who may have a value clash with this life issue. Counselors are obligated in this situation to abide by legal and ethical laws first. Legally they must exercise "reasonable care" to avoid negligence accusations from the client and follow all state laws in their practice. This includes what to do if they are a minor. Ethically they must first identify their own values regarding abortion before they treat the client (Corey et al., Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. The Core Values Of Courage Every society has a deep–seated web of beliefs, these beliefs are also known as core values. These core values help keep society in a collaboration if all the individuals involved believe in the same common core values. These core values dictate rules and help individuals distinguish what is right or wrong. In the eyes of a college English class, honesty, courage, empathy, integrity and perseverance are tightly woven into the classes web of beliefs. Courage itself doesn't dictate what is right from wrong, courage is as fierce as a doubled edged sword, one side contrasting the other; but it is up to the individual to determine its use. What is courage? The original Middle English meaning of the word courage was "To speak one's mind by telling all one's heart." Over time the word courage has evolved, and society now views the word courage very differently than it did a few hundred years ago. According to the Merriam–Webster Dictionary, the definition of courage is defined as, "mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty." This definition can be further broken down for English language learners as,...show more content... Several centuries later, on May 16th, 1920 Joan of Arc was officially canonized as a saint in the roman catholic church by Pope Benedict XV. • 13. Core Value Essay My Core Values: Honesty, Prayer, Bible, and Evangelism Most people and organizations have their own core values; for example, one of Apple's core values according to Tim Cook Apple's CEO is simple, not the complex (Apple core values, n.d.). Martin Luther King's core values was that his children live in a colorblind society (Garris, 2006). Core values play a great role for organizations to achieve their mutual goal. Therefore, to become a good leader, leaders must know what their core values are. Liard (2013) defines value as "enduring beliefs and feelings about what is preferable. Values often influence our thoughts and actions" (LDRS 320, Fall). Organizations can develop and grow through their core values. Core values help ...show more content... I am a Christian and pastor, so I try to think everything from Christianity perspective. "What would Jesus do?" is the guideline of my life. Therefore, honesty, prayer, the Bible, and evangelism are core values of my life, which can make God pleased. Honesty is very important for relationship with other and God. Prayer and the Bible guide me to go the way that God wants. I should live for evangelism because it is God's vision. What God wants the most is that all of sinners come back to Him. He sent His only son for sinners. Therefore, I should preach the gospel to people. Lectures and books based on Christianity perspective are very helpful for guiding my decision making. Hill (2008) describes three ethics that God has: holiness, justice, and love. These three core elements guide people to make better decision. Thus, the core elements influence my core values. Honesty one of my core values needs holiness. To be honest before God, holiness is crucial. Moreover, love is essential to preach the gospel to people, because I cannot evangelize without love. As I mentioned, my core values are honesty, prayer, bible, and evangelism. First, I always try to be honest with others, myself, and God, but I think that being honest before God is the most important. It is easier for people to be honest with others, but it is very difficult to be before God because He knows even Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. My Personal Values My personal values act as a basis for distinguishing between right and wrong and thus, determine my daily actions and emotions. My mom and education have played profound roles in the development of my core personal values: personal integrity, responsibility, and ambition. Additionally, these influences have demonstrated that the rule–based approach determined what conduct is consistent with these key values. Before I was the age of 6, my parents were divorced. Ever since moving back to Pennsylvania in 2004, I have been living with my mom. As a child, my mom taught me to not be dishonest, disrespectful, or self–centered, since they all are morally incorrect in today's society. My mom's ultimate goal is that all individuals deserve their respect regardless of it's age, race, sex, or religion. Her stern belief that "it takes all types to make the world go 'round" has influenced me to use the rights approach from Immanuel Kant and others like him, to focus on the rights of other individuals. "According to these philosophers, what makes human beings different from mere things is that people have dignity based on their ability to choose freely what they will do with their lives, and they have a fundamental moral right to have these choices respected. People are not objects to be manipulated; it is a violation of human dignity to use people in ways they do not freely choose" (Thinking Ethically). Although I have completed my intensive college composition 1 class last semester we never went over this information in the course. After reviewing many of the core values I can still see how they can relate to my past experiences with other classes I may have taken. This semester I hope to use this as a prompt to guide me whenever I am writing to ensure that my essays' are well written. Core value 1, Understanding that writing is a practice which involves a multi–stage, recursive and social process. Writing is a process which takes time and multiple revisions to improve on your argument in your paper, but also knowing that you're finally draft is still never complete. Like the core value says, processes are social and interactive. I believe this because it takes peer editing and others looking at your work and critiquing it in areas where you may not have spotted an error in your work. Every conversation at some point stems from a question or leads to a question and writing is a way of responding with your own ideas supported by facts which also incorporates some of your opinions. These responses come after you have read a text and analyzed the information you were given in the text. I have done assignments in many of my past writing courses where I was given a text of someone who had an opinion and I was asked to respond to the text whether agreeing or disagreeing with the discussion at Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Five predominant values that influence my life on a daily basis are responsibility, accountability, integrity, achievement, and respect. Responsibility is a value that has been integrated in my mind since early childhood. On top of that, preforming skits is another activity that has improved my skills because as part of a team, adjusting personal and professional attitudes change to work together. Before entering this course, I would've defined professional responsibility as the ability for someone to complete work till their fullest potential without compromising others values. This naГЇve, misrepresentative definition has now been remolded. To begin, my original definition was too narrow minded and only considered completing a task without creating a hassle; this is only one piece of the puzzle. Not to mention, guest speakers in class are always a unique way to receive first hand testimony of what professional responsibility truly is. They verbalize the complexity of professional responsibility and depict the numerous Get more content on HelpWriting.net

In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions." It generally means not intentionally harming others, not stealing from, not cheating, or being fair to, others. Primary socialisation is the first phase which occurs in early infancy. The family plays a vital role in teaching the infant the norms and values of their cultures. Secondary socialisation is the next stage we go through, and our values and beliefs come from the education system, peer groups and the mass media. Most societies do not have a single culture but an array of subcultures which is different from other members of society.
