Hash value of a message when encrypted with the private key
of a person is his digital signature on that e-Document
A digital signature is an electronic signature used to
authenticate the identity of the sender of a message or
the signer of a document, and to ensure that the original
content of the message or document that has been sent
is unchanged.
Digital Signature Certificates (DSC) are the digital
equivalent of physical or paper certificates.
A digital signature can be used with any kind of
message, whether it is encrypted or plaintext.

Public Key.

Name of the CA.
Serial number of digital ID.

7. CLASSES OF DSC
Class 1: Class 1 Digital Signature’s are used
for verifying the association of an email address
with a person.
Class 2: This class of DSC is available for
download after verification based on a trusted
and pre-verified database.
Class 3: Class 3 DSC, on the other hand, is of
a higher level as it is issued only after the
registrant’s identity verification has been done
by a Registration Authority, in person.

How much time do CAs take to
issue a DSC?
The time generally taken by CAs to issue a DSC
may vary from three to seven working days. Also
on fulfillment of terms and conditions DSC is
issued by some CA’s on same day based on eKYC
for Aadhaar Holders.

Validity period of a DSC
The Certifying Authorities are
authorized to issue a DSC with a
validity of one or two years

Cost= Cost of Medium (a USB to token which
is a one time cost) + Cost of issuance of
DSC + Renewal cost after the period of
validity.
