2. long term vision is to be the benchmark
of national reinsurance companies in the
region,” said NRCP's Senior Assistant
Vice President Jeffrey Lacson. “And our
main anchor in achieving this is through
technology.”
Digital technologies are shifting the
business landscape and consumer behavior,
with some exciting developments for
insurers. Just as in other industry verticals,
it is now time for insurers to evolve and
respond to this massive change to avoid
getting left behind.
Since its incorporation in 1978,
National Reinsurance Corporation of the
Philippines, also known as NRCP in local
insurance industry, remains to be the only
professional reinsurance organization in
our country. The company provides life
and non-life insurance services to other
insurance companies. Essentially, it insures
insurers.
“We are building our technologies
to provide analytical services for local
companies and industry partners,” said Mr.
Lacson, mentioning that they are currently
improving their infrastructure, processes,
and integration systems. They are training
their people overseas and bringing in
experienced foreign consultants to share
valuable perspectives and insights.
“Technology really plays a big part in
our roadmap and vision, that is why we are
very diligent in choosing an ICT partner
that offers scalability and reliability,”
he said.
An End-to-End ICT Partner
NRCP is able to focus on their core
business by confidently outsourcing most
of their ICT services to PLDT ALPHA
Enterprise.
“PLDT ALPHA Enterprise’s digital
infrastructure solutions such as VITRO
Colocation, DRaaS, and Google Apps
help us set up and establish the right
infrastructure and technologies for our
future expansion,” mentioned Mr. Lacson.
He also mentioned that the solutions meet
their corporate goals and objectives in
terms of efficiency and cost-savings.
And as they continue to scale up
their digital backbone, Mr. Lacson also
projected the company’s use of Big Data.
“We are considering to use ePLDT’s Big
Data Platform as a Service for the data
warehouse that will be housed internally,”
he said. The solution can transform raw
data and information into actionable
insights for reports and insurance
commissions.
“We are tapping PLDT ALPHA
Enterprise in this initiative, as they are
already experienced and have implemented
the technology within their group.”
Leader of Change
For Mr. Lacson, the potential NRCP-
PLDT ALPHA Enterprise Big Data
partnership benefits the organization as
well as the entire industry.
“We want to be the Big Data
pioneers for this industry,” said Mr.
Lacson, sharing that this initiative will
be a collaborative effort among the local
insurance companies. “In the near future,
we will be utilizing more technologies
to help the industry in consolidating
all the information and data for
government regulators, and other involved
organizations.”
“PLDT ALPHA Enterprise is
definitely a big help for us, because of their
customer service, flexibility, and integrity,”
said Mr. Lacson, adding that PLDT could
be their “gateway” in attaining their goal
of “becoming the technology leader of the
local insurance industry”.
“We are one with NRCP in their
aim to revolutionize the entire insurance
industry through technology,” said
PLDT FVP and Head of PLDT ALPHA
Enterprise Jovy Hernandez. “Technology
always reveals new frontiers of innovation
and competition, and this is certainly the
case here. With this partnership, we will
ensure our continued pursuit of innovating
our solutions to further enable NRCP and
the local insurance industry.”
