 Title: ‘It wont happen again’
 Director: Tony Bark
 Camera: Steven Fisher
 Sound: Craig Mathews
 Editor: Steven Smith
Hypothesis
In life I believe that women
have every right that a man
has and so that means no
man should have to over
power a women by using
domestic violence. This film
will show this in action by
exploring domestic violence
at home where one is meant
to be safe and comfortable.
The situation has family visiting the house to
see the victim and abuser but the abuser starts
beating the victim again in front of the family
members.
This is to see how
much it would
impact a family
and what if it was
your family that
was part of an act
of violence.
The reason I have made this scenario is
because people can be affected in real
life, this makes it hit the audience
harder.
Ultimately, I want the audience to feel
horrified and angry so that it hits them
hard. Which will make them help the
campaign for stopping domestic violence,
and to understand that this major issue
must stop because eventually it will have a
major effect on a lot of women and will
lead to more domestic violence against
women happening.
Topic
This film’s subject includes a female and a
male in a relationship, living in London, having
family visit, this will also be displayed as a
story film so that it feels more realistic.
I want my environment of my short film to
a normal ordinary setting. I want this so
that it doesn’t look out of the ordinary
which makes the audience less likely to
know what is going to happen, this will
make the short film more powerful.
Target audience profile
1.Q: What is the age
range of potential
viewers?
A: The age for my short
film will for adults
between 20-55, but
younger people will also
be able to access this as
well, the main reason I
will be aiming at adults is
because the issue is
based around adult
domestic violence.
2.Q: ABC1
A: the target audience I am making this
short film for are all the classes from A-E
this is because I feel like the issue is
nation wide and happens in every class of
people so that why I have targeted at the
whole nation.
3.Q: What gender will the
audience be?
A: The majority of the
audience will be female
because they will want to
help put a stop to this
more than men but it is
also targeted at men
because the issue I am
researching the majority of
the abusers are male.
4.Q: What will the occupations be of
potential consumers?
A: The occupation of the audience will
more likely be the stereotypical house wife
because they are normally away from
normal society which isolates them, also
the abuser would normally be workers.
5.Q: What factors are
potential customers likely to
consider before
purchasing/consuming your
film?
A: Some factors could be-
Will it be good acting?/Is it
worth getting?/Does the
issue get shown properly?
6.Q: How will customers find out about the
short film you are distributing?
A: The short film will be able to be found by
the customers by posters and adverts on
TV and radio because these ways of media
are very highly populated and so that
means more people can find out and also
more of the target audience I am aiming
for will see this.
7.Q: Will the cost of the product influence
a customer’s decision to buy from you?
A: In my opinion I feel like the cost of the
short film will be a reasonable price so
that a lot of people can afford and be
aware of the issue, which means that I
feel like the only influence it will have if
the customer thinks its not good because
the price of the short film.
8.Q: List all the ways contact could be
made with potential customers in order to
gain qualitative and quantitative research
A: By going on the radio and presenting the
online survey and telling what the website
is, also going to populated areas in the
local area and getting research about what
people think when you are face to face to
them also try and targeted the age group I
am aiming at.
9.Q: Probable objections to
your short film
A: The possible objections I
would have against my short
film would be that no one
would take it seriously or
think that there is no need
for my short film because
there are many others about
the abuse I am studying.
10.Q: Risk of alienating your secondary
audience
A: The risk of the secondary audience
being alienated is very unlikely because
the short is for many different people and
also I don’t feel like the secondary would
influence people because the short film is
to promote awareness of domestic
violence.
Action sequences
Main Characters
 Amy – victim/female in relationship
 Jason – abuser/ male in relationship
 Maggie – mother of victim
 Billy – nephew of Amy
Amy suits the role because she is shy
and not confident which makes her
more vulnerable to domestic abuse,
this is because she cant defend her
self well which is stereotypical for
the victims.
Jason fits the role because he is
confident and feels powerful so
that's makes him stereotypically
more likely to abuse. Maggie fits in
as well by the way she is sweet but
you can tell she is not shy to a bit of
anger.
The characters play their role well
because they show the stereotypical
victim and abuser which makes the
audience understand the situation much
better, Maggie is the most interesting
character because you find out what she
does later which is unexpected.
Conflict
Amy wants love and protection from Jason
but all he does is put her in more danger and
he is the main danger for her. Jason wants her
to give him attention and strength to make
him feel better about himself and show how
powerful he is.
We see the point where both victims and
abuser clash when the mother of the
victim watches the abuse happen but then
starts using violence on him, then see how
the abuser feels after getting the same
treatment.
Jason will feel depressed because he
has lost his power over Amy and also
got beat up by a women which will hurt
his ego.
Audience Biases
The main majority of my audience
watching the short film would feel
like the women would never get
help and no one can defend them.
The abusers will
always be an
abuser and will
never stop, but
this shows that an
abuser’s power
can be taken
away by stopping
them or if the
same treatment is
used on them.
The audience will
also need to know
that the victims in
domestic violence
need help and cant
always be able to
reach out
themselves, the
abusers can be
stopped if you put
an end to domestic
violence.
I will show the abuser can
be stopped by humiliate
them and taking away
their power.
Structure
The short film will
be planned out by
making it a linear
story. This means
that the short film
will be in order,
for example (they
wake up -- eating
breakfast --
watching TV).
The important information gets displayed
at the start and end of the short film this
will be there because it will help tell the
story and how many people become
victims of domestic violence last year.
The climatic sequence will go in the
middle part of the short film and it
will be the point when the abuser
(Jason) gets angry then starts
beating the victim (Amy).
The story doesn't end on a cliff
hanger and it shows how the victim
is after the this event.
Form and style
In the short film
there will be a
lot of shots that
show the whole
setting for
example when
they are in the
living room the
camera has the
whole room is
in the shot.
At the start of the film it will be all light
when the family approaches the hose so
that it looks happy and friendly to the
audience and it will also show the
emotions of the victims when seeing her
family.
As the story
goes on the
lighting starts
to drop and go
darker so that
the audience
can tell that it
is getting dark
within the
story line.
The story line comes to its climax when
the abuse starts, the camera zooms in on
the abuse then onto the mother so that you
can see her emotions.
I feel like this
will make the
short film
more dramatic
and make the
audience think
more which
keeps their
mind on the
story.
Resolution
The resolution of my short film will be the
moving on of the victim by moving away
from the area and getting an apartment,
also finding someone who she likes and the
abuser going to prison with for years
because of the incident.
The final words will
be ‘This was only on
case of domestic
violence but this one
ended fine’(words
disappear) ‘But there
are thousands of
cases where the
victim is not helped
and is stuck where
they are’
Budget
I will need £6,000 to help produce
and edit the short film; the budget
with be going to different
departments which are…
 Scheduling
 Budgeting
 Cast and Crew
 Catering
 Location
 Camera and Lights
 Insurance
 Post-production and Marketing
 Call Sheets
Logistics
Any problems that
could would be
that days when
filming the
weather could be
bad and not
planned or if
casting crew are
ill or something
else has happened
to them.
If the audience don’t like the short film and
don’t take it on board which would be a
waste or the audience don’t like the acting
so they don’t feel for the short film.
Ways of keeping the
staff to keep on
time so that there is
no delay when
filming , also getting
the filming
equipment to the
right destination at
the right time so
there is no delay as
well.
Summary
In the research I have found I have grouped
together all the information I have gathered
and have made a summary to show an over
view of the issue and what the research
has showed me.
The research I
collected help
me understand
the people who
are involved in
domestic
violence.
The victims who
are involved in
domestic
violence are
normally female,
they are
stereotypically
very unconfident
and are very shy
people.
Victims are
normally the
stereotypical
housewife in a
relationship. The
abuser is normally
male shown by
statistics, they are
very confident and
feels like he is too
powerful for
anyone.
In most cases had a bad childhood, for
example their mother or father being
abused while he was growing up, which
influenced him to do the same.
Domestic violence
is when someone is
physically abused
at their home or
another household.
This type of abuse happens at
homes across the nation
because it happens in so many
different types of classes of
people.
Domestic violence
happens because the
male feels like he
must always be in
control so to show
his power and
dominance he uses
violence to scare the
female into doing
what he says.

  • 4. The situation has family visiting the house to see the victim and abuser but the abuser starts beating the victim again in front of the family members.
  • 5. This is to see how much it would impact a family and what if it was your family that was part of an act of violence.
  • 6. The reason I have made this scenario is because people can be affected in real life, this makes it hit the audience harder.
  • 7. Ultimately, I want the audience to feel horrified and angry so that it hits them hard. Which will make them help the campaign for stopping domestic violence, and to understand that this major issue must stop because eventually it will have a major effect on a lot of women and will lead to more domestic violence against women happening.
  • 8. Topic This film’s subject includes a female and a male in a relationship, living in London, having family visit, this will also be displayed as a story film so that it feels more realistic.
  • 9. I want my environment of my short film to a normal ordinary setting. I want this so that it doesn’t look out of the ordinary which makes the audience less likely to know what is going to happen, this will make the short film more powerful.
  • 10. Target audience profile 1.Q: What is the age range of potential viewers? A: The age for my short film will for adults between 20-55, but younger people will also be able to access this as well, the main reason I will be aiming at adults is because the issue is based around adult domestic violence.
  • 11. 2.Q: ABC1 A: the target audience I am making this short film for are all the classes from A-E this is because I feel like the issue is nation wide and happens in every class of people so that why I have targeted at the whole nation.
  • 12. 3.Q: What gender will the audience be? A: The majority of the audience will be female because they will want to help put a stop to this more than men but it is also targeted at men because the issue I am researching the majority of the abusers are male.
  • 13. 4.Q: What will the occupations be of potential consumers? A: The occupation of the audience will more likely be the stereotypical house wife because they are normally away from normal society which isolates them, also the abuser would normally be workers.
  • 14. 5.Q: What factors are potential customers likely to consider before purchasing/consuming your film? A: Some factors could be- Will it be good acting?/Is it worth getting?/Does the issue get shown properly?
  • 15. 6.Q: How will customers find out about the short film you are distributing? A: The short film will be able to be found by the customers by posters and adverts on TV and radio because these ways of media are very highly populated and so that means more people can find out and also more of the target audience I am aiming for will see this.
  • 16. 7.Q: Will the cost of the product influence a customer’s decision to buy from you? A: In my opinion I feel like the cost of the short film will be a reasonable price so that a lot of people can afford and be aware of the issue, which means that I feel like the only influence it will have if the customer thinks its not good because the price of the short film.
  • 17. 8.Q: List all the ways contact could be made with potential customers in order to gain qualitative and quantitative research A: By going on the radio and presenting the online survey and telling what the website is, also going to populated areas in the local area and getting research about what people think when you are face to face to them also try and targeted the age group I am aiming at.
  • 18. 9.Q: Probable objections to your short film A: The possible objections I would have against my short film would be that no one would take it seriously or think that there is no need for my short film because there are many others about the abuse I am studying.
  • 19. 10.Q: Risk of alienating your secondary audience A: The risk of the secondary audience being alienated is very unlikely because the short is for many different people and also I don’t feel like the secondary would influence people because the short film is to promote awareness of domestic violence.
  • 21. Main Characters  Amy – victim/female in relationship  Jason – abuser/ male in relationship  Maggie – mother of victim  Billy – nephew of Amy
  • 22. Amy suits the role because she is shy and not confident which makes her more vulnerable to domestic abuse, this is because she cant defend her self well which is stereotypical for the victims.
  • 23. Jason fits the role because he is confident and feels powerful so that's makes him stereotypically more likely to abuse. Maggie fits in as well by the way she is sweet but you can tell she is not shy to a bit of anger.
  • 24. The characters play their role well because they show the stereotypical victim and abuser which makes the audience understand the situation much better, Maggie is the most interesting character because you find out what she does later which is unexpected.
  • 25. Conflict Amy wants love and protection from Jason but all he does is put her in more danger and he is the main danger for her. Jason wants her to give him attention and strength to make him feel better about himself and show how powerful he is.
  • 26. We see the point where both victims and abuser clash when the mother of the victim watches the abuse happen but then starts using violence on him, then see how the abuser feels after getting the same treatment.
  • 27. Jason will feel depressed because he has lost his power over Amy and also got beat up by a women which will hurt his ego.
  • 28. Audience Biases The main majority of my audience watching the short film would feel like the women would never get help and no one can defend them.
  • 29. The abusers will always be an abuser and will never stop, but this shows that an abuser’s power can be taken away by stopping them or if the same treatment is used on them.
  • 30. The audience will also need to know that the victims in domestic violence need help and cant always be able to reach out themselves, the abusers can be stopped if you put an end to domestic violence.
  • 31. I will show the abuser can be stopped by humiliate them and taking away their power.
  • 32. Structure The short film will be planned out by making it a linear story. This means that the short film will be in order, for example (they wake up -- eating breakfast -- watching TV).
  • 33. The important information gets displayed at the start and end of the short film this will be there because it will help tell the story and how many people become victims of domestic violence last year.
  • 34. The climatic sequence will go in the middle part of the short film and it will be the point when the abuser (Jason) gets angry then starts beating the victim (Amy).
  • 35. The story doesn't end on a cliff hanger and it shows how the victim is after the this event.
  • 36. Form and style In the short film there will be a lot of shots that show the whole setting for example when they are in the living room the camera has the whole room is in the shot.
  • 37. At the start of the film it will be all light when the family approaches the hose so that it looks happy and friendly to the audience and it will also show the emotions of the victims when seeing her family.
  • 38. As the story goes on the lighting starts to drop and go darker so that the audience can tell that it is getting dark within the story line.
  • 39. The story line comes to its climax when the abuse starts, the camera zooms in on the abuse then onto the mother so that you can see her emotions.
  • 40. I feel like this will make the short film more dramatic and make the audience think more which keeps their mind on the story.
  • 41. Resolution The resolution of my short film will be the moving on of the victim by moving away from the area and getting an apartment, also finding someone who she likes and the abuser going to prison with for years because of the incident.
  • 42. The final words will be ‘This was only on case of domestic violence but this one ended fine’(words disappear) ‘But there are thousands of cases where the victim is not helped and is stuck where they are’
  • 43. Budget I will need £6,000 to help produce and edit the short film; the budget with be going to different departments which are…
  • 44.  Scheduling  Budgeting  Cast and Crew  Catering  Location  Camera and Lights  Insurance  Post-production and Marketing  Call Sheets
  • 45. Logistics Any problems that could would be that days when filming the weather could be bad and not planned or if casting crew are ill or something else has happened to them.
  • 46. If the audience don’t like the short film and don’t take it on board which would be a waste or the audience don’t like the acting so they don’t feel for the short film.
  • 47. Ways of keeping the staff to keep on time so that there is no delay when filming , also getting the filming equipment to the right destination at the right time so there is no delay as well.
  • 48. Summary In the research I have found I have grouped together all the information I have gathered and have made a summary to show an over view of the issue and what the research has showed me.
  • 49. The research I collected help me understand the people who are involved in domestic violence.
  • 50. The victims who are involved in domestic violence are normally female, they are stereotypically very unconfident and are very shy people.
  • 51. Victims are normally the stereotypical housewife in a relationship. The abuser is normally male shown by statistics, they are very confident and feels like he is too powerful for anyone.
  • 52. In most cases had a bad childhood, for example their mother or father being abused while he was growing up, which influenced him to do the same.
  • 53. Domestic violence is when someone is physically abused at their home or another household.
  • 54. This type of abuse happens at homes across the nation because it happens in so many different types of classes of people.
  • 55. Domestic violence happens because the male feels like he must always be in control so to show his power and dominance he uses violence to scare the female into doing what he says.
