My Pre-Writing Process
Prewriting defines any kind of opening work that comes first in the actual paper writing. It does not
necessarily have to be writing. In Fact, prewriting can just be strenuous thinking about what you
want to write your paper about. Personally, my favorite technique is journaling. I like this technique
best because it is used as an on–going process. When using the other techniques, brainstorming,
freewriting, clustering, mind mapping, and question–asking, they can wait until you have your paper
assignment and are thinking about where to start. Journaling is great throughout your assignment
with whatever material you could possibly be writing about. Also, it can involve pieces of all the
previous techniques that where mentioned above. However,

Modern Day Heroes Essay
Modern day heroes can be very important. These heroes importance on americans is that they help
us, the people in many different ways like physically and mentally/ vocally. These heroes empower
common people to do better. these heroes importance to the world is greatest, they help us to be
better (and make the world better) and learn from them. So with these three thing Modern day
Heroes better our world and we would be nothing without them.
To explain my point, The importance of modern day heroes on Americans are they help us. In
passage 1 there's a modern day hero named Betty Ford, Betty was the first lady and she had breast
cancer. Betty opened up about her cancer and told lady's to be safe and check to to see if they are
ok. Betty Ford in a way helped the people physically by making them go to the doctor, this could
have saved people– they could have caught the cancer before it was too late. According to Betty
Ford: A New Kind of First Lady "Checkups increased by 300 to 400 percent". I put this quote to
show how Betty Ford is so inspiring she had womans wanted to be sure they were alright and
there's a good chance some of those people in that percent might have had breast cancer, so Betty
Ford might have just saved there life. Modern day heroes affect Americans mentally/ vocally by
speaking up and taking a stand. In passage 2 the author spoke up about violence by involving
modern day heroes. Jonah Goldberg (THE AUTHOR) stood up for this one girl named Laura who

Plagiarism Essay
Plagiarism missing works cited
Plagiarism is a distinguished sounding word. One would almost think that it sounds like some lofty
philosophical ideal named for the great Greek teacher Plagiarus, something to be aspired to. This is
not so. Plagiarism is in fact a moral misdemeanor, and an academic felony. By definition, plagiarism
is "a piece of writing that has been copied from someone else and is presented as being your own
work." Socrates, Plato and Aristotle would have frowned on such a practice, and "Plagiarus" would
have been kicked out of the academy. Such is the fate of many college students today.
Plagiarism exists in greater and lesser forms. It can range anywhere from copying a phrase without
giving credit, to copying...show more content...
Internet technology has given birth to a new form of plagiarism called "cut and paste plagiarism". As
the name suggests, the less–than–honest student sits down to the Internet and in the course of
browsing a subject, simply copies segments or entire web articles and pastes them onto his or her
document. There are even websites that are geared directly toward the student seeking the easy
way out, such as School sucks, other people's papers and evil house of cheat. These are free, or
small fee sites that offer prewritten essays and research papers. One can even get a custom written
report over the Internet for a fee. Whatever the reason, or however great the temptation, the
punishment one faces if caught are severe.
Every school policy I have reviewed in my research states that a student caught for plagiarism faces
certain failure of the assignment, possible failure of the class and even expulsion from school. If
one is so inclined to cheat in this manner, the consequences would seem to be enough to deter a
student from engaging in plagiarism, however this is not the case. Many students are under the
misconception that there is no way to be caught at plagiarism, believing that Internet resources are so
vast, no one could prove the text has been copied.
A student that copies bits from here and there may not realize in his or her laziness that tense or
subject matter has changed, or that styles are completely

My Pre-Writing Process Analysis
My usual method for writing an essay made it hard for me to start and actually continue into
writing it. I would first start out and open a word document; Then, I would try and figure out how
I was going to write the entire paper in my head, which made it really difficult sometimes. Starting
the essay was definitely my worst enemy because I didn't know what to start with or how to go
about most papers. My method has changed since this class. I always knew what an outline was but
now I have implemented it into my pre–writing. Before, I write I try to make an outline of all of the
topics that will go into the essay. After, the outline is finished, the biggest lesson I've learned to get
my paper started is to simply start typing. It doesn't matter...show more content...
It was also one of the most fun essays because I got to try to write a poem. I have never really
tried to write a poem but always admired them. It was challenging in the fact because I really
wanted my poem to rhyme. It took me thirty minutes to come up with about ten short lines for a
poem. It was a long time to think about the rhymes I was going to use but it was challenging and
fun for me. The easiest essay I wrote in this class was also very enjoyable. It was my essay about
the golf tournament I went to. I included sensory details into it and hoped to bring people's
attention to my writing through it. I enjoyed the essay a lot because it was a true story on a great
experience I had in a golf tournament. The activities that assisted me in preparing for each essay
were simply an outline. Although, I'm not sure if randomly typing to start an essay would qualify
for an activity, it helped me a lot. The outline was very helpful for me to understand how my essay
was going to be written. I can't remember what activities that were not helpful because I don't
remember using any other ones other than the

Turning 50 Research Paper
Turning 50: What it was like –

A zero year birthday plus the added distinction of being a
half century old may bring a depressing realization of how much time has past and the sudden
recognition of mortality – hence the unofficial color of 50, black.

I took a different approach
to the year. Turning 50 means I am just that much closer to retirement and is the beginning of "senior
citizen" discounts. AARP did not forget either. I received two invitations to join.

This
birthday brought a different twist and was one I will never forget, not for the typical zero year
birthday reasons but due to a big dark cloud hanging overhead called the workplace. All but the
biggest change in the last 20 years took place either simultaneously or in two–week...show more

If I can "dine at the dump" on vacation, then a birthday at the local Shell seems like something
special, if not unique. As my brother put it, "At least we got to go somewhere
expensive!"

The FED remembered me this year with a special commemorative 50 dollar
bill. For one day only they printed 50s with a picture of a long–lost relative of both General Grant
and myself, Gary Grant. The currency was "FED–EXed" to me as it came off the presses to be in my
hands on time. (Notice the resemblance to each of us of our ancestor.)

I received more mail
from Washington, D.C. This time it was a "birthday" card with a tired old Statue of Liberty on the
front, stating I have been declared a "National Monument." On the inside a notice that Congress
failed to allocate any money for my maintenance. Signed Nancy Poloski, Harry Reid & President
Obama.

I noticed another twist on birthday cards, as well. Two were just a like. Was this
one for each eye or to help the memory through repetition? In another re occurrence was a set of
three. These triplets had a genetic connection as the senders of all three was relatives of one another
(& me). We either have the same taste or card companies have a limited choice of

Informative Speech On Anxiety
Anxiety is one of the most common illnesses in America. Your palms can get sweaty, you get
nervous and your blood pressure can increase. Some students can go through anxiety every day just
by having to go to school or present in class like I am now. I am presenting a speech in front of a
decent size class some of who I am familiar with and some of you who I barely know so that can be
a bit scary and nerve racking.
I will discuss what Anxiety is, how to diagnose it, and also how to treat it. It is very common and
I'm pretty sure most of you know basically what it is. But just in case I will go over the main
important things to know about Anxiety. According to the National Institute of Mental Health,
anxiety disorders involve more than temporary worry or fear. For a person with an anxiety disorder,
the anxiety does not go away and can get worse over time. The feelings can interfere with daily
activities such as job performance, school work, and relationships. There are several different types
of anxiety disorders. Examples include generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social
anxiety disorder. According to the American psychological association, Anxiety is an emotion
characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts, and invisible changes like increased blood
pressure. You can have OCD, phobias, panic attacks, and PTSD. OCD is basically anxiety that takes
the form of obsessions and compulsions. I know many of you guys are scared of spiders or bees and

My Experience In English Writing
English is a core concept in the Untied States and other countries that has allowed inviduals to
advance their knowledge. Not only does English provide an advancement in knowlege, but has
created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why
English is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in
America including mine. I began taking English from a young age which allowed me to take
advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English
IV allowed me to further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome
obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any other thing in life there
are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was
something that was very challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to
organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in my English class
was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write
about the experience I had while hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had
many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my thoughts, so that it
flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around
more then I should have and this became a problem. I learned

Who Are You As A Writer? Essay
When presented with the question, "who are you as a writer?", I was speechless at first. But after
thinking about it, I realized who I am as a writer has been influenced by so many different
sponsors throughout my life and there was not a short, concrete answer. Brandt mentions that
"literacy is sponsored by people, institutions, and circumstances that both make it possible for a
person to become literate and shape the way the person actually acquires literacy." (Brandt 43)
My attitude towards writing has been influenced by teachers, both negatively and positively, by
my mother, and by academic assignments over the years. My answer to the question can only be
answered by a narrative of my writing life. I have convinced myself that I am a terrible writer,
and when presented with a writing assignment, I get anxious instantly. I see writing as a burden
and a huge obstacle that gets placed in my life. Academic writing is not fun, but something I
value due to the fact that we are a grade driven society. When writing, I write to the guidelines in
order to receive points for the requested criteria. The reason being, I gave up on expressing my
own ideas because I had been shut down by so many teachers throughout my education. I tried to
write down what came to my mind and put my own twist on things, but that was not the "right"
way to write papers. In order to make both my teachers and my grades happy, I wrote what they
wanted to hear, and even then I was not to the level they

Persuasive Speech On Baseball
Baseball is a great sport that kids want to pursue when they're older. It's a game with 9 people on
the field at a time and 2 or 3 subs on the bench. Only one person is able to bat at a time. You go
through the order as many times as possible. Baseball is a game that lots of kids enjoy playing
but don't get to enjoy. However, our district gives the girls a chance to play softball. So many
people might think that baseball is very dangerous, but if you think about it basketball is more
physical. Although, people think that getting hit by a ball will hurt a lot, which is true, people
have to know when playing any sport there is a chance that you will get hurt. That's just part of
the game. So I am here to inform you on some reasons why baseball should be at our school and at
any other middle school that doesn't have a team. First, when adding an extra school sport, that
means that kids will look forward to coming to school every day because they know that they will
have a fun time at their practice or game that day. As Skylar S. stated , " Going to school is like
going to the library and reading for seven hours....BORING. Now if schools had more sports
teams it would make school more fun because it gives kids something to look forward to for after
school. " (S.Skylar, Middle School Sports) She is basically displaying how most kids don't enjoy
school as much as their teachers and parents might think. But this is a way for kids to go to school
and enjoy what they love doing:

Fee Simple Research Paper
Fee simple defeasible is another way of saying fee simple qualified. Fee simple qualified is an
estate for which owner has fee simple title subject to a condition. If the condition is not met, then
the title passes back to the owner. It is a conditional estate based on that condition. A condition
subsequent is a condition that must occur after the transaction and a condition precedent is a
condition that must occur prior to the transaction. The classic example is that of a specific use
being required of a property. A man gave his property to the city to use as a library. Years later the
city stopped using the property as a library and the man's heirs demanded the property back. The
man's family regained title because the title held by the city was a fee simple defeasible / qualified
title and the condition was that the property be used as a library. Just as a contrast, a fee simple

Why Kids Sext Analysis
In the article, "Why Kids Sext," Hanna Rosin explains the reasoning behind why kids sext and what
the punishment should be for those who do sext. Rosin hooks the reader with a general statement
about a scandal involving young teens on Instagram before jumping into an anecdote. This anecdote
involves a mother getting a call from her daughter's friend saying that there was a naked picture of
her daughter on Instagram. Rosin then describes the daughter as a good student who volunteers and
plays sports, emphasizing that this kind of thing can happen to anyone. She structures her article
using a main example, with small examples laced throughout, however always coming back to her
main example. Her use of statistics enlightens the reader onto the common practice of sexting
between teens. Also, Rosen talks to the authority figures surrounding the sexting scandal in Virginia,
giving her logos. She emphasizes the importance of authority educating the public on how to handle
situations like these. She found that the biggest issue for the police officers is the punishment for
sexting, especially those involving minors, rather than adults. Rosin explains that in some...show

Essay About Myself
There are three very important aspects that play a major rule in my life. They can be categorized as
intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual self is interesting because I am mainly
right–brained which means that I tend to use my creativity more than my mathematical skills, also
making me a visual learner. My social self consists of friends, family, and my surroundings. I spend
most of my time at home with my family. Whenever I am with my friends, I observe their behaviors
and listen to their opinions. I am more of an independent type of person. Being with different people
has influenced me into appreciating different cultures and beliefs. I have learned things that have

I find that I can only recall long–term memories if they are important to me, or if they are dramatic
experiences. A few examples of my childhood memories are my mother reading to me, my
grandfather playing his guitar, and my dad relentlessly teaching me how to ice skate, no matter
how many times I fell. The people who affect my social life the most are my family and friends. I
have an extremely close family that has played a major role in my life. They are whom I spend
most of my spare time with. My family usually gathers every weekend for dinner. I am also very
open to different religions, cultures, and practices because I know many people with different
backgrounds and beliefs. Since I've been influenced by various people, I've learned at a very
young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have
learned these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting
differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have to say, and then contribute to the
discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a
group, because it gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is
most greatly influenced by my family and friends. I believe that my spiritual self is the most
important out of the three. Although I have a certain religion that I belong to and practice, I believe
in a bit of

The First And Hardest Part Of Writing An Essay
The first and hardest part of writing an essay is figuring out how to start. A professor may give a
topic to be written about, but in some cases that may not happen. The first step is to pick a topic.
The topic will serve as your thesis. You want to pick a topic that you are relatively knowledgeable
about so you are not completely in the dark. By picking a topic that you know even a little about,
will take away the anxiety of not knowing where to start or what to write about. If you chose to
challenge yourself and write a paper about something you are novice about, then you want to pick
a topic that is broad enough to find enough information about. For example, if you want to write a
paper about cars, do not make cars what your paper is about, because although it is a broad topic
it is also somewhat narrow. Try to broaden your topic buy changing it to, "how cars have changed
our lives." Changing your topic to a more argumentative thesis gives you a pinpoint area to write
about and leaves the door open to give you more to write about. The second step, and what I believe
to be the most important step is locating sources to support your thesis. A researchessay without
sources becomes an opinion essay, and that is what you as the writer want to stay away from.
Sources make your essay more creditable. If your essay is about "how technology has benefited
students and teachers in the classrooms," then you should find sources that are about how
technology is used in

Overcoming Obstacles Essay
Overcoming Obstacles What is life? Life consists of experiences, challenges, and achievements;
all of which are building blocks that essentially create ones path to success. In one's lifetime they
can experience tough and difficult challenges. Sometimes these challenges become unbearable,
especially when the odds are against you. However, going against all odds is something everyone is
capable of doing, and to overcome these challenges everyone needs to have a "never quit" attitude in
life. If we develop it, we'll overcome quite a bit. Many people all around the world face challenges
and obstacles every day in their daily lives. One man in particular is Nic Sheff; a man who was a
drug addict and wrote an autobiography called...show more content...
Society doesn't usually think of drug addicts as "good people" and they end up losing their
respect and reputation as they grow up. If these teens and young adults don't change who they are
when they are young, they won't be able to fix themselves as they grow older which can be a bad
influence. Bad habits start as a kid and if you don't change those habits you won't be able to when
you get older! Many people face challenges and obstacles at a very young age and that can change
who they are as they grow up. My grandma faced a very harsh and unfortunate childhood. Her
father died when she was 17 and that changed her life and her future. It meant she was given
many responsibilities since she was the eldest out of her siblings. She had to do many house
chores such as cooking, washing the clothes and dishes and waking up early in the morning to get
water from a nearby well every day! This placed a very large obstacle in her life at a very young
age. She had to leave school at a very young age because of all the responsibilities she was given
and had to overcome these obstacles and face them with great integrity. But due to these obstacles
that she has overcome, it has changed who she is now. She struggled in life right from when she
was just a little kid. But if she hadn't overcome these obstacles she wouldn't have been a very
independent woman like she is today. If her father hadn't died when she was young, she probably
would have had a completely different

In Fact, prewriting can just be strenuous thinking about what you want to write your paper about. Personally, my favorite technique is journaling. I like this technique best because it is used as an on–going process. When using the other techniques, brainstorming, freewriting, clustering, mind mapping, and question–asking, they can wait until you have your paper assignment and are thinking about where to start. Journaling is great throughout your assignment with whatever material you could possibly be writing about. Also, it can involve pieces of all the previous techniques that where mentioned above. • 4. Modern Day Heroes Essay Modern day heroes can be very important. These heroes importance on americans is that they help us, the people in many different ways like physically and mentally/ vocally. These heroes empower common people to do better. these heroes importance to the world is greatest, they help us to be better (and make the world better) and learn from them. So with these three thing Modern day Heroes better our world and we would be nothing without them. To explain my point, The importance of modern day heroes on Americans are they help us. In passage 1 there's a modern day hero named Betty Ford, Betty was the first lady and she had breast cancer. Betty opened up about her cancer and told lady's to be safe and check to to see if they are ok. Betty Ford in a way helped the people physically by making them go to the doctor, this could have saved people– they could have caught the cancer before it was too late. According to Betty Ford: A New Kind of First Lady "Checkups increased by 300 to 400 percent". I put this quote to show how Betty Ford is so inspiring she had womans wanted to be sure they were alright and there's a good chance some of those people in that percent might have had breast cancer, so Betty Ford might have just saved there life. Modern day heroes affect Americans mentally/ vocally by speaking up and taking a stand. In passage 2 the author spoke up about violence by involving modern day heroes. Jonah Goldberg (THE AUTHOR) stood up for this one girl named Laura who got in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Plagiarism Essay Plagiarism missing works cited Plagiarism is a distinguished sounding word. One would almost think that it sounds like some lofty philosophical ideal named for the great Greek teacher Plagiarus, something to be aspired to. This is not so. Plagiarism is in fact a moral misdemeanor, and an academic felony. By definition, plagiarism is "a piece of writing that has been copied from someone else and is presented as being your own work." Socrates, Plato and Aristotle would have frowned on such a practice, and "Plagiarus" would have been kicked out of the academy. Such is the fate of many college students today. Plagiarism exists in greater and lesser forms. It can range anywhere from copying a phrase without giving credit, to copying...show more content... Internet technology has given birth to a new form of plagiarism called "cut and paste plagiarism". As the name suggests, the less–than–honest student sits down to the Internet and in the course of browsing a subject, simply copies segments or entire web articles and pastes them onto his or her document. There are even websites that are geared directly toward the student seeking the easy way out, such as School sucks, other people's papers and evil house of cheat. These are free, or small fee sites that offer prewritten essays and research papers. One can even get a custom written report over the Internet for a fee. Whatever the reason, or however great the temptation, the punishment one faces if caught are severe. Every school policy I have reviewed in my research states that a student caught for plagiarism faces certain failure of the assignment, possible failure of the class and even expulsion from school. If one is so inclined to cheat in this manner, the consequences would seem to be enough to deter a student from engaging in plagiarism, however this is not the case. Many students are under the misconception that there is no way to be caught at plagiarism, believing that Internet resources are so vast, no one could prove the text has been copied. A student that copies bits from here and there may not realize in his or her laziness that tense or subject matter has changed, or that styles are completely Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. My Pre-Writing Process Analysis My usual method for writing an essay made it hard for me to start and actually continue into writing it. I would first start out and open a word document; Then, I would try and figure out how I was going to write the entire paper in my head, which made it really difficult sometimes. Starting the essay was definitely my worst enemy because I didn't know what to start with or how to go about most papers. My method has changed since this class. I always knew what an outline was but now I have implemented it into my pre–writing. Before, I write I try to make an outline of all of the topics that will go into the essay. After, the outline is finished, the biggest lesson I've learned to get my paper started is to simply start typing. It doesn't matter...show more content... It was also one of the most fun essays because I got to try to write a poem. I have never really tried to write a poem but always admired them. It was challenging in the fact because I really wanted my poem to rhyme. It took me thirty minutes to come up with about ten short lines for a poem. It was a long time to think about the rhymes I was going to use but it was challenging and fun for me. The easiest essay I wrote in this class was also very enjoyable. It was my essay about the golf tournament I went to. I included sensory details into it and hoped to bring people's attention to my writing through it. I enjoyed the essay a lot because it was a true story on a great experience I had in a golf tournament. The activities that assisted me in preparing for each essay were simply an outline. Although, I'm not sure if randomly typing to start an essay would qualify for an activity, it helped me a lot. The outline was very helpful for me to understand how my essay was going to be written. I can't remember what activities that were not helpful because I don't remember using any other ones other than the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Turning 50 Research Paper Turning 50: What it was like –

A zero year birthday plus the added distinction of being a half century old may bring a depressing realization of how much time has past and the sudden recognition of mortality – hence the unofficial color of 50, black.

I took a different approach to the year. Turning 50 means I am just that much closer to retirement and is the beginning of "senior citizen" discounts. AARP did not forget either. I received two invitations to join.

This birthday brought a different twist and was one I will never forget, not for the typical zero year birthday reasons but due to a big dark cloud hanging overhead called the workplace. All but the biggest change in the last 20 years took place either simultaneously or in two–week...show more content... If I can "dine at the dump" on vacation, then a birthday at the local Shell seems like something special, if not unique. As my brother put it, "At least we got to go somewhere expensive!"

The FED remembered me this year with a special commemorative 50 dollar bill. For one day only they printed 50s with a picture of a long–lost relative of both General Grant and myself, Gary Grant. The currency was "FED–EXed" to me as it came off the presses to be in my hands on time. (Notice the resemblance to each of us of our ancestor.)

I received more mail from Washington, D.C. This time it was a "birthday" card with a tired old Statue of Liberty on the front, stating I have been declared a "National Monument." On the inside a notice that Congress failed to allocate any money for my maintenance. Signed Nancy Poloski, Harry Reid & President Obama.

I noticed another twist on birthday cards, as well. Two were just a like. Was this one for each eye or to help the memory through repetition? In another re occurrence was a set of three. These triplets had a genetic connection as the senders of all three was relatives of one another (& me). Some students can go through anxiety every day just by having to go to school or present in class like I am now. I am presenting a speech in front of a decent size class some of who I am familiar with and some of you who I barely know so that can be a bit scary and nerve racking. I will discuss what Anxiety is, how to diagnose it, and also how to treat it. It is very common and I'm pretty sure most of you know basically what it is. But just in case I will go over the main important things to know about Anxiety. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, anxiety disorders involve more than temporary worry or fear. For a person with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety does not go away and can get worse over time. The feelings can interfere with daily activities such as job performance, school work, and relationships. There are several different types of anxiety disorders. Examples include generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder. According to the American psychological association, Anxiety is an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts, and invisible changes like increased blood pressure. You can have OCD, phobias, panic attacks, and PTSD. OCD is basically anxiety that takes the form of obsessions and compulsions. • 11. My Experience In English Writing English is a core concept in the Untied States and other countries that has allowed inviduals to advance their knowledge. Not only does English provide an advancement in knowlege, but has created a way for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings through writing. Which is why English is one of the four subjects that is required to be taught in almost every school district in America including mine. I began taking English from a young age which allowed me to take advanced placement English IV my senior year at Tupelo High School. Advanced Placement English IV allowed me to further my education in writing, which in return allowed me to overcome obstacles, low points and discover strengths I never knew I had. Like any other thing in life there are always obstacles individuals face everyday, for me in my English IV class writing was something that was very challenging. The first challenge writing presented to me was trying to organize all of my thoughts, so that it made sense. The first essay I ever wrote in my English class was a journal entry about a memorable experience, so with that being said I decided I would write about the experience I had while hunting with my Dad. The hunting experience with my dad had many different parts, and one of my biggest challenges I had was organizing my thoughts, so that it flowed correctly. Since I was telling a story within my journal I realized that I was jumping around more then I should have and this became a problem. I learned Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Who Are You As A Writer? Essay When presented with the question, "who are you as a writer?", I was speechless at first. But after thinking about it, I realized who I am as a writer has been influenced by so many different sponsors throughout my life and there was not a short, concrete answer. Brandt mentions that "literacy is sponsored by people, institutions, and circumstances that both make it possible for a person to become literate and shape the way the person actually acquires literacy." (Brandt 43) My attitude towards writing has been influenced by teachers, both negatively and positively, by my mother, and by academic assignments over the years. My answer to the question can only be answered by a narrative of my writing life. I have convinced myself that I am a terrible writer, and when presented with a writing assignment, I get anxious instantly. I see writing as a burden and a huge obstacle that gets placed in my life. Academic writing is not fun, but something I value due to the fact that we are a grade driven society. When writing, I write to the guidelines in order to receive points for the requested criteria. The reason being, I gave up on expressing my own ideas because I had been shut down by so many teachers throughout my education. I tried to write down what came to my mind and put my own twist on things, but that was not the "right" way to write papers. In order to make both my teachers and my grades happy, I wrote what they wanted to hear, and even then I was not to the level they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Persuasive Speech On Baseball Baseball is a great sport that kids want to pursue when they're older. It's a game with 9 people on the field at a time and 2 or 3 subs on the bench. Only one person is able to bat at a time. You go through the order as many times as possible. Baseball is a game that lots of kids enjoy playing but don't get to enjoy. However, our district gives the girls a chance to play softball. So many people might think that baseball is very dangerous, but if you think about it basketball is more physical. Although, people think that getting hit by a ball will hurt a lot, which is true, people have to know when playing any sport there is a chance that you will get hurt. That's just part of the game. So I am here to inform you on some reasons why baseball should be at our school and at any other middle school that doesn't have a team. First, when adding an extra school sport, that means that kids will look forward to coming to school every day because they know that they will have a fun time at their practice or game that day. As Skylar S. stated , " Going to school is like going to the library and reading for seven hours....BORING. Now if schools had more sports teams it would make school more fun because it gives kids something to look forward to for after school. " (S.Skylar, Middle School Sports) She is basically displaying how most kids don't enjoy school as much as their teachers and parents might think. • 14. Fee Simple Research Paper Fee simple defeasible is another way of saying fee simple qualified. Fee simple qualified is an estate for which owner has fee simple title subject to a condition. If the condition is not met, then the title passes back to the owner. It is a conditional estate based on that condition. A condition subsequent is a condition that must occur after the transaction and a condition precedent is a condition that must occur prior to the transaction. The classic example is that of a specific use being required of a property. A man gave his property to the city to use as a library. Years later the city stopped using the property as a library and the man's heirs demanded the property back. The man's family regained title because the title held by the city was a fee simple defeasible / qualified title and the condition was that the property be used as a library. Just as a contrast, a fee simple absolute, is a transfer with no conditions. Rosin hooks the reader with a general statement about a scandal involving young teens on Instagram before jumping into an anecdote. This anecdote involves a mother getting a call from her daughter's friend saying that there was a naked picture of her daughter on Instagram. Rosin then describes the daughter as a good student who volunteers and plays sports, emphasizing that this kind of thing can happen to anyone. She structures her article using a main example, with small examples laced throughout, however always coming back to her main example. Her use of statistics enlightens the reader onto the common practice of sexting between teens. Also, Rosen talks to the authority figures surrounding the sexting scandal in Virginia, giving her logos. She emphasizes the importance of authority educating the public on how to handle situations like these. With a rise in the use of technology, the issue of sexting is going to become an even bigger issue. • 16. Essay About Myself There are three very important aspects that play a major rule in my life. They can be categorized as intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual self is interesting because I am mainly right–brained which means that I tend to use my creativity more than my mathematical skills, also making me a visual learner. My social self consists of friends, family, and my surroundings. I spend most of my time at home with my family. Whenever I am with my friends, I observe their behaviors and listen to their opinions. I find that I can only recall long–term memories if they are important to me, or if they are dramatic experiences. A few examples of my childhood memories are my mother reading to me, my grandfather playing his guitar, and my dad relentlessly teaching me how to ice skate, no matter how many times I fell. The people who affect my social life the most are my family and friends. I have an extremely close family that has played a major role in my life. They are whom I spend most of my spare time with. My family usually gathers every weekend for dinner. I am also very open to different religions, cultures, and practices because I know many people with different backgrounds and beliefs. Since I've been influenced by various people, I've learned at a very young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have learned these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have to say, and then contribute to the discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a group, because it gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is most greatly influenced by my family and friends. A professor may give a topic to be written about, but in some cases that may not happen. The first step is to pick a topic. The topic will serve as your thesis. You want to pick a topic that you are relatively knowledgeable about so you are not completely in the dark. By picking a topic that you know even a little about, will take away the anxiety of not knowing where to start or what to write about. If you chose to challenge yourself and write a paper about something you are novice about, then you want to pick a topic that is broad enough to find enough information about. However, going against all odds is something everyone is capable of doing, and to overcome these challenges everyone needs to have a "never quit" attitude in life. If we develop it, we'll overcome quite a bit. Many people all around the world face challenges and obstacles every day in their daily lives. One man in particular is Nic Sheff; a man who was a drug addict and wrote an autobiography called...show more content... Society doesn't usually think of drug addicts as "good people" and they end up losing their respect and reputation as they grow up. If these teens and young adults don't change who they are when they are young, they won't be able to fix themselves as they grow older which can be a bad influence. Bad habits start as a kid and if you don't change those habits you won't be able to when you get older! Many people face challenges and obstacles at a very young age and that can change who they are as they grow up. My grandma faced a very harsh and unfortunate childhood. Her father died when she was 17 and that changed her life and her future. It meant she was given many responsibilities since she was the eldest out of her siblings. She had to do many house chores such as cooking, washing the clothes and dishes and waking up early in the morning to get water from a nearby well every day! This placed a very large obstacle in her life at a very young age. She had to leave school at a very young age because of all the responsibilities she was given and had to overcome these obstacles and face them with great integrity. But due to these obstacles that she has overcome, it has changed who she is now. She struggled in life right from when she was just a little kid. But if she hadn't overcome these obstacles she wouldn't have been a very independent woman like she is today. If her father hadn't died when she was young, she probably would have had a completely different Get more content on HelpWriting.net
