Editor's Notes
Modern Society has diminished the roles
And next to him was Shammah, the son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines gathered together at Lehi, where there was a plot of ground full of lentils, and the men fled from the Philistines. But he took his stand in the midst of the plot and defended it and struck down the Philistines, and the Lord worked a great victory. 2Sa 23:11-12
And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was a valiant man of Kabzeel, a doer of great deeds. He struck down two ariels of Moab. He also went down and struck down a lion in a pit on a day when snow had fallen. 2Sa 23:20
If men could die protecting a plot of lentils, sheep and to bring water to their commander, how much more for the families?
and shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel, today you are drawing near for battle against your enemies: let not your heart faint. Do not fear or panic or be in dread of them, for the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.’ Deut 20:3-4
And I looked and arose and said to the nobles and to the officials and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes.” Neh 4:14
First Hallmark; Men are called to fight for and protect their families NOT to fight and expose their families
It’s cowardice to physically assault a woman or a child
The Gospel invites us as men not into military action but fight the good fight of the Faith
John the Baptist; For Herod had seized John and bound him and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, because John had been saying to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her. Mat 14:3-4
Early Church; When faced with persecution the response prayer was God make us BOLD! And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, Act 4:29
China Church . It wasn’t a prestigious thing to be a Church leader in the early Church just like it’s not in underground China. We cannot remain SILENT or be POLITICALLY CORRECT.
But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” Rev 21:8
Why is immorality happening in your hostels because you’re afraid to speak
Fear has destroyed too many men
I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. 2Ti 1:5-7
For I have no one like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare. For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. But you know Timothy's proven worth, how as a son with a father he has served with me in the gospel. Phi 2:20-22
God in His holy dwelling is a father of the fatherless and a champion of widows. Psalm 68:5
Rebellion is normally the more prevalent among men who grew up in single mother homes. Ability to be loyal to the Master and submit to His authority is another mark of biblical manhood
Second hallmark is Loyalty and Submission to authority
His father Judah slept with a prostitute, committed incest and denied his son in-law to carry on the family name; that’s an emotional wounding
As she was being brought out, she sent word to her father-in-law, “By the man to whom these belong, I am pregnant.” And she said, “Please identify whose these are, the signet and the cord and the staff.” Gen 38:25
and may your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, because of the offspring that the Lord will give you by this young woman.” Ruth 4:12
The hallmark of manhood is the glory of the women and children; Restores Manhood in His lineage. Masculinity is best seen when the femininity closely associated with the man is seen to thrive
He achieved so much by turning around the shame of his Father into fame of his family in just one lifetime
He was among the thirty great men of David; Uriah the Hittite: thirty-seven in all. 2Sa 23:39
Uriah said to David, “The ark and Israel and Judah dwell in booths, and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord are camping in the open field. Shall I then go to my house, to eat and to drink and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing.” 2Sa 11:11
How can I cheat in exams?
How can I sleep with a girl?
How can I bribe?
The 3rd hallmark is being an example in conquering all the sinful cravings; Food, Comfort and Sex
And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly Mat 1:19
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. Eph 5:25-30
