OF THE COURSE?
The topic of the course is Earth Science, which blends Astronomy,
Geology, Meteorology and Oceanography

CONTEXT/GRADE, HOW MANY STUDENTS?
My learners consist of 9-12 grade high school science students,
who are roughly between the ages of 14 and 18. Average class
size consist of 36.5 students.
4. 3. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE COURSE?
To be able to investigate and explain real world phenomena, such
as solar and lunar eclipses, seasons, locations of earthquakes
and volcanoes, wind, tides, and so much more…..
By the time students are finished with the course, they should
have a comprehensive understanding of the global dynamic
process that shape and transform our world such as erosion,
weathering, gravity, convection, and pressure

FACILITATED? FULLY ONLINE OR
BLENDED? WHY?
Course pace will be facilitated and determined by the instructor.
Online summer classes through our district are both online and
blended.
The only on-ground aspect of the course is required for testing
and summative assessments, the rest is completely online

IMPLEMENTATION?
Online summer classes through our district are typically 6 weeks
in duration.

12 hours per each unit of study
There are five units of study, so 60 hours total

Yes, they are the California Earth Science content standards
As most teachers are aware, these standards will be obsolete
within a year due to the common core national standards being
implemented

It will most likely be Blackboard which is similar to Moodle
I am going to check to see if there is any degree of flexibility with
my district to use a different platform
I may use a wikispaces website, which I feel is more user friendly
and allows for increased collaboration

It will be a modified version of my class website, which has links
to PowerPoint's, Online Tutorials, flash animation and online
