2. Kill Bill Volume 1 (Tarantino, 2003)
• The lead character, called 'The Bride,' was a member of the Deadly Viper
Assassination Squad, led by her lover 'Bill.'
• Upon realizing she was pregnant with Bill's child, 'The Bride' decided to
escape her life as a killer.
• She fled to Texas, met a young man, who, on the day of their wedding
rehearsal was gunned down by an angry and jealous Bill (with the
assistance of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad).
• Four years later, 'The Bride' wakes from a coma, and discovers her baby is
gone. She, then, decides to seek revenge upon the five people who
destroyed her life and killed her baby. The saga of Kill Bill Volume I begins.
3. The Dark Knight (Nolan, 2008)
• Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of
Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets
out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the
city streets.
• The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves
prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind
known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker.
• Creating a new wave of chaos; Batman's struggle against the Joker
becomes deeply personal, forcing him to "confront everything he
believes" and improve his technology to stop him.
4. Donnie Darko (Kelly, 2001)
• Donnie Darko doesn't get along too well with his family, his teachers and his
classmates; but he does manage to find a sympathetic friend in Gretchen,
who agrees to date him.
• He has a compassionate psychiatrist, who discovers hypnosis is the means to
unlock hidden secrets.
• His other companion may not be a true ally. Donnie has a friend named Frank
- a large bunny which only Donnie can see. When an engine falls off a plane
and destroys his bedroom, Donnie is not there.
• Both the event, and Donnie's escape, seem to have been caused by
supernatural events. Donnie's mental illness, if such it is, may never allow
him to find out for sure.
